This is a two-year plan, like it or not. I am as frustrated, disgusted, and embarrassed as anyone about how bad this team has become but we have to remember that (unless things get REALLY bad in 2014), next year is the make-or-break year for Eli, Coughlin, and McAdoolittle.
So before anyone starts calling for the BBI guillotine, we have to give this a chance to develop.
With that said though, unless things get much better, I can't see how Reese is back next year. He's really driven this team off a cliff after Accorsi built us into a perennial contender and Reese rode the coattails of his personnel to two Superbowl Championships then reality set in and the bottom fell out.
If it was a 2 year plan, they wouldn't have spent all that FA money in the offseason.
What's it gonna be next year when it's still not working?
And irrespective of his talent McAdoo will be gone also. Remember when Sean Payton got dumped as a solution to Fassel's problems? Not that McAdoo is necessarily Sean Payton, but it's impossible to have watched Lombardi's offense execute, and not compare the two first year OC's.
If the freaking Lions have too much talent for us we're a bottom 10 team in the league.
I enjoyed the 2007 and 2012 runs as much as the next guy, but the product being put out on the field right now is indefensible. There is no discernible strategic plan for this roster, just very poor drafting and a sudden reliance on overpriced/under-performing free agents. I wish it was as simple as the cries to getting rid of Eli, but this is a roster that's nearly rotten to the core and devoid talent at key positions across the board.
Its not a coincidence the Giants have the second oldest roster in the league right now - its due to the fact the entire middle rounds of the past half decade of drafts would have likely netted better results if the team used a dartboard method to make the selections. Only the Raiders are older, which is dubious company to keep in the NFL.
Miami has 5 new starting OL and put up almost 200 rushing yards on the PATs. Detroit has a new HC and OC.
Giants need to get there shit together this year or I'll be among the herd clamoring for a new GM, coach and franchise QB.
If it is, it's a bad plan....
It's only one game....it's not encouraging....
But you can't base it all on one game....you have to sit back and watch each game, and only hope you see improvement from week to week....
What can wreck this improvement, is injuries.....especially in the OL......this OL has to gel....it has to communicate better...that stunt up the middle, where Walton blocked no one, is a prime example....if this OL does not gel, the season is over for the Giants.....this defense is not as good as everyone thinks.....it can't keep us in games, waiting for the offense to "get it".....

Must be an especially rough week for you with the Pats losing to the Dolphins...
Funny thing is, look at the similarity of both teams.....
Both OL's put pressure on their qb's.....
Both defenses were suppose to be great.....
Both defenses couldn't rush the passer....
Neither offense has a true WR....
Both defenses had a high priced corner, that didn't play like one......
Both offenses had QB's that didn't play like ELIte qb's....
Both offenses did not rush the ball well....
yes, most on this board can't fathom the fact that I have a favorite NFC team, and a favorite AFC team......especially since I live in Ma., where I get a lot of looks at Market Basket, when I wear my old LT 56 jersey....
Rebuild the offensive line and begin the transition to Nassib as his mobility will extend plays behind a porous offensive line. He is better suited for this offense than Eli. It's not a pleasant thought but reality is starting to set in. If we're going to suck then let's get to sucking and rebuilding. Can't believe I just wrote that. Get rid of Eli's contract and you can pursue high-priced OTs/OGs and re-sign JPP.
Granted, this becomes the plan if the team is 2-6 at the half-way mark w/ no signs of improvement on the line. Hopefully, we see a remarkable turnaround and away we go!
They did a lot this off-season but not enough. It's going to take 1 more year and a healthy Beckham to get the talent level up to teams like the Lions.
It is what it is.
Well shit, that's a point I'm envious of not having thought of first.
