It's not a pissing contest.

I'm just saying at some point you've got to give Eli credit for making some of these guys.

Also, if you don't recall, David Tyree had a 3 TD game against the Bill Parcells coached Dallas Cowboys, Eli's first win (and first 4th quarter comeback win) in 2004.

give the guy some f-cking credit instead of looking for reasons to discredit him at every turn.

Jesus.
That's what's wrong here...
Britt in VA : 9/10/2014 11:54 am : link
Everybody is so quick to discredit him, or get rid of him...

Guy has pretty much zero respect here. It sucks, if you ask me.
and if you're sticking with this silly position

You really had better not be one of the people bitching about how Eli has no one to throw to since, using your logic, it doesn't matter who the receivers are - the magic of Eli will make them great!
With a decent offensive line I believe that to be true.

If you think the next guy is going to be better, you're probably going to be mistaken.

Yeah, the cap number is big but I don't think a lack of cap space is what is holding this team back. Poor drafting is.

Greg bitches about everything. That's his role here. Rainbows, sunshine, blowjobs, oxygen, IPAs...Doesn't matter.

Steve Smith was one of the best route runners this team has ever had. The dude had an amazing knack for finding space and getting open.

He was quite special in that regard.

Elite, gamebreaking talent? No. But he was a very good player for us.
arc, I agree with you...
Britt in VA : 9/10/2014 12:23 pm : link
and my point was not to diminish Steve Smith as a player. I still have gifs on my computer saved of him juking Cowboys out of their cleats. His route running was outstanding.

If I could have worded it better, like you I would have said he was not a naturally, athletically gifted, elite type reciever, but that's exactly what Eli pulled out of him in 2009. A record breaking season.
Class & Character

BB 56 wrote a nice thread which I really agreed with everything he I said, so this is along those lines. I come to this site because, I have moved away from NJ but miss discussions with Giant fans. I miss East Coasters in general, when I meet one out west I recognize them instantly. The tell you how they feel , their wear their emotions on their sleeves, you know where you stand with them. Once you earn their trust, they have your back, no questions asked. The friends I still have from NJ would give me half their last dollar. Best fucking people on the planet.

WTF is happening back there? This guy has 2 superbowls since 2007 and has given us some of the best sports memories any fan has ever had or likely ever will have. Beating an undefeated super team with a last second drive? Drilled into the turf play after play in SF championship game and getting up? Hasn’t missed a start, stage 2 separated shoulder, plantar faciitis ect? All class says the right never going to cause a controversy, will never embarrass us. This guy has been anything anyone can ask for.

I will stand behind this guy until he can’t move his arm. He fucking earned it. I expect better of you people. Until he has an opportunity to learn this offense and this offensive line has an opportunity to gel he should get the benefit of the doubt. Calling for him to be replaced, you embarrass yourself. Adversity doesn’t build character…It is revealed through adversity. How you act when the chips are down and things or when things don’t go your way says every single thing I need to know about your character or it’s obvious lack there of. Start acting like the men I know you can be…Show some class.

He will succeed if we give him average OL and WR's..

He has already won 2 SB's with a weaker supporting cast than his brother, Brady, Brees, Rodgers and Ben..

weaker supporting cast than Brady? Maybe if you buy into spy-gate a s cast member, but otherwise the Giants never won with a RB like Antowain Smith or WR's like David Patten.

Those offenses weren't great. Let's not as like they were.

The NE teams won then because of their defense.

and Manningham for that matter.

To be fair, I think around here Eli gets more credit for amazing plays than the WR's do. Don't get me wrong, the Manningham throw was an amazing throw that took an incredible amount of skill and accuracy, but the catch was also anything but routine.
I give both of them all the credit in the world for their part in...
Britt in VA : 9/10/2014 7:08 pm : link
those plays.

I'm not talking about single plays, though, I'm talking careers.
Who was it said ...

You are what your record says you are.

I don't think most people have any clue

the Vast Wasteland, the playoff dearth that awaits after Manning leaves. We got lucky in getting Manning as soon as we did after Simms. Look at some other franchises. A couple are lucky like SF and GB to get one good QB after another. Most get a good one, a real good one every 25 years or so. Before Aimms was Tittle, and that was quite a stretch.Don't count on Getting someone like Manning sooner, or maybe ever. He's probably the best QB NY ever had.I think it's hysterical listening to all these people calling for his head like they think the next guy is going to be better. after he goes it's gonna be like the dolphins after Montana left. The are still waiting for a decent QB 22 years later, and that's about typical for the average NFL franchise.I can't wait for all the jumping up and down and bitching about " How hard canit be to draft a decent QB" that's gonna still be going on 10 years after he's gone, and the people crying the loudest are gonna be the same schmucks that called for Mannings head.Speaking of heads, if you don't think Manning would do just fine behind a good OL with decent receivers and a TE that could at least catch and block adequately.Give him a running game, he'll take you right back the the playoffs.

Guy has no OL, and still you have guys going " yeah but,,,"as if somehow an absentee OL is something he's supposed to overcome while his receivers are dropping balls, his RBs can't catch out of the backfield and can hardly pass protect, he doesn't have a TE worth a damn, and frankly it's fucking amazing what a complete and total cock-up Reese has made of the roster.Noone outside of NY thinks Reese is a GM worth a shit. You'd have a lot more takers for our QB than you would our GM right now.
