Prince Amakumara was an excellent pick......

sxdxca : 9/10/2014 7:08 am
I thought he played lights out at Detroit. Broke up many passes when he was targeted, including a few when he was locked up on Megatron.

I know Reese has taken a lot of heat lately, but Amakumara was an excellent pick he made.

I believe we need to let this season play out for a while, but I believe we will become a better team down the road, just gotta be patient.
I agree

He played well as did JPP. The two guys with contracts looming.

SanFranGiantsFan : 9/10/2014 7:22 am : link
A keeper no doubt. I'd love to see him here long-term.
People forget Price was considered a top ten pick
Blue Blood : 9/10/2014 7:23 am : link
and as good as Patrick Peterson coming out.
I love is attitude
robbieballs2003 : 9/10/2014 7:24 am : link
He is a keeper. Others should follow his lead.

Is good. Predicted in the 10-15 range. We got good bargin. But to even say he was being talked about in the same breath as Patrick Peterson is Fucking ridiculous. Come on guys I know we are homers here but Peterson was being talked about in the Deion Sanders class. I've heard it all!
Prince
stretch234 : 9/10/2014 7:49 am : link
Peterson was always considered better because he is taller and faster. Prince is/was a very good player and basically only played man coverage at Nebraska.

Would be nice for him to be here long term and not have to worry about drafting high for that position as a priority

Headhunter : 9/10/2014 7:51 am : link
he is proving to be a top ten talent so it was an excellent pick
I wish the giants made him shadow number 1 wrs all game
ANGPASS : 9/10/2014 8:00 am : link
but that is after we lock him up. other wise he would shut down everyone and demand a huge pay day.

Yep, Rolle... our 2nd best player
on the team last year...
completely over rated....
we need Grimble... and resi-gn
Painter.... trade Eli....move
Nassab to WR..... fix offense
He's not Patrick Peterson, so the draftniks were wrong there
Ten Ton Hammer : 9/10/2014 8:27 am : link
he just doesn't have the ball skills and hands. Irvin said he was a "Giants Cornerback", which he is. Tough, Physical, run support friendly.

Glad to have him. If he takes it to another level, even better. Giants should keep him.
But he broke his foot his first season and was essentially useless.
WideRight : 9/10/2014 8:28 am : link
Since we only have three years on his rookie deal, it killed any chance of getting great value from the pick.

Just like so many of our high picks recently
Best thing about Prince is he keeps getting better.
Bold Ruler : Mod : 9/10/2014 8:28 am : link
He's playing his best ball right now. Hopefully he gets even better.
Prince is awesome
Essex : 9/10/2014 8:34 am : link
he is one notch below the elite corners (which there are like 3 of them including Peterson and Sherman).
The CBs are a talented, physical bunch being held back by
Victor in CT : 9/10/2014 8:46 am : link
Fewell the Tool's stupid Cover 2 schemes. Hey guys! Let's play 20 yds deep on 3rd and 18!
I think Prince dropped in the draft...
Milton : 9/10/2014 8:52 am : link
...because his personality was considered odd and teams wondered how he would fit in the locker room.
He has really come on
St. Jimmy : 9/10/2014 8:52 am : link
starting last season. He was the best guy in the secondary against the Loins. It is frustrating to watch this defense in that the plan on third and long is play zone, rush 3, and tackle the receiver after the catch. It turns a lot of 3rd and 15s into 4th and 4s when it works.
Always puzzles me how the national media piled on Prince
Ben in Tampa : 9/10/2014 9:04 am : link
the last few seasons. His rookie year was a wash and there was the hazing video, but it became a meme that the "Giants weren't getting enough out of Amakumara." He's probably the best DB on the team right now.

Hell of a player.
Prince didn't carry the grade or "sure thing" label that PP had
JonC : 9/10/2014 9:06 am : link
He was a top 10 talent on many team's draft boards, including the Giants, but he wasn't considered as strong a prospect as PP.

I was thrilled he felt into our laps and he looks to be a new confident version this season, he's gaining experience and looks like he belongs and then some.

I really hate how often they run that silly coverage when the CB has to "pass off" his man to a safety. The CB just has to assume the safety is doing his job, and it makes everyone look like idiots when someone screws up.
he's a Mark Collins type of CB
Greg from LI : 9/10/2014 9:31 am : link
and I love him for it.
And it is interesting to note
Rob in NYC : 9/10/2014 9:32 am : link
that a portion of BBI turned on him as injury prone, labelling him a wasted pick. Sounds familiar...

And before the pessimists quibble about him being a true "shut down corner", it doesn't change the fact that the pick was, at minimum, a good one.
Part of me thinks that our OL needs to be thrown in a tub.
shepherdsam : 9/10/2014 9:37 am : link
Maybe that toughened Prince up some.

The other part of me thinks JPP would hurt himself trying to do so.
Prince is a solid corner,
Doomster : 9/10/2014 10:00 am : link
but not a shut down corner, and definitely not a turnover machine.....he has problems with big receivers, like Marshall last year in Chicago....

Yes he looked better than DRC, because of who DRC was trying to cover.....this was a healthy CJ, not the limping one we faced last year.....

So yes, he is a solid pick....should be....he was a number one pick.....

My favorite play by him from the game was, CJ goes deep, and for some reason Stevie goes to cover a receiver on a shorter route....CJ is open and somehow Prince came from across the field and hit CJ, and knocked the ball loose.....that was a great play.....

Fitzgerald's father is upset that his son was not targetted in the last game.....wonder if DRC will stay with him, or if he will be covered by Prince....

I know one thing, if I am Palmer, and I see Cover 2, I just wait until those corners release the WR and hit him in stride....
Like a broken

record.
there are maybe four or five real shutdown corners in the entire NFL
Greg from LI : 9/10/2014 10:08 am : link
He isn't one of them - so what? He's still very good.
Patrick Peterson is arguably the second best CB in the game
Ten Ton Hammer : 9/10/2014 10:11 am : link
and he gets beaten.

Revis got beaten on sunday. There really isn't a shutdown corner anymore. Sherman might be the closest thing. Aaron Rodgers actively avoided him

So many new players starting in the secondary, and even Rolle's position and role has changed from last season that there were many mix ups, it did make fewell look bad, but to be honest, it is to be expected, he needs to adjust to the talent he has, and they need to adjust to the role the team is asking them to play, and this all evolves as the season progresses, and changes from one week to another.

The two biggest positives were JPP and Hankins, and that is very good news indeed. I still have not given up Moore, he is not very bright, but he has the raw talent, the other things can be taught and things could change in a hurry for this guy, I just hope the organization does not give up too soon.

The other thing that should get better is Beason, it was his first game, remember how bad Strahan looked when he held out his first game back, and the great LT also looked real bad after he held out, so Beason should also improve dramatically.

Williams was the huge disapointment, he played poorly, and that is on him, not Fewell, he was given an opportunity, and dropped the ball big time. The other disapointment was DRC, but that is just due to the new system, they need to make things simple for him, let his skills play out, and allow him to play instinctively without thinking too much, and that is on Fewell, he handled that poorly, real poorly.

The other good sign was Prince, he was good, but Demps was bad, real bad. I hope we don't regret giving up on Hill, that will really be a huge blunder if he stays straight and turns into a very good player, it will be another poor judgement.

Thurmond is another player that should improve as the season progresses, and he should improve a lot also. I also have hopes for Andre Williams, he is quick to the hole and runs with real power and seems to find a hole quickly. I think this kid is going to turn into a very good player, we have to hope his blocking and pass catching skills improve quickly so he can get to see the field sooner rather then later.
and he spent the first

Carl whether you believe it or not I distinctly remember reading articles that said they were the top 1 and 2 CB's in the draft and I read articles that had him going anywhere from 4th to 10th.. in addition I also read some said that you could draft EITHER one and get a top flight corner..

So maybe YOU didnt read it.. but I know I did..
