Francesser saying Mcadoo is Mara's Boy and his hire.

Rich Houston-NYG-WR-1971 : 9/10/2014 4:09 pm
In turn, TC and Eli are bystanders in this GB like offense and they do not feel like they "own" this offense.

Francesser said it was weird for Mara to speak out after week one to keep the faith with Mcaddoo offense. He said it was atypical for Mara to speak out at this juncture of the season and indicates TC and Eli are separated from McAdoo and his offense

If that is true, then they should have just cleaned house
Victor in CT : 9/10/2014 4:13 pm : link
after last season. That is undermining the Head Coach.
Francesser made these comments just before 1:30pm today
Rich Houston-NYG-WR-1971 : 9/10/2014 4:18 pm : link
and repeated the theme today. I didn't see it posted and thought it was worth mentioning. I agree, if true they are undermining TC.

Francessor further said it is the lack of talent hurting the scheme and weak OL. He mention JD Walton hurt last two years and didn't relly play. RG is a big problem
Eh
BigBlueShock : 9/10/2014 4:18 pm : link
I doubt anybody on the planet not named Kevin Gilbride would have been TC's choice. Of course McAdoo is Maras choice. Mara decided to make a change, and TC is insanely loyal. Sometimes to a fault.

I thought this was pretty much common knowledge
It's becoming less and less atypical for Mara to make statements
Ten Ton Hammer : 9/10/2014 4:21 pm : link
so I'm not sure how much we should be surprised that he made statements. He's the owner. Fans have been in a panicked state since preseason. The media coverage has been very down on the team since preseason. He probably felt like saying something was needed.
I think its clear
Rflairr : 9/10/2014 4:21 pm : link
hes involved in a lot of the moves. Thats why I don't think Reese is in trouble or should be.

But I don't believe this crap he keeps saying about the OC being forced on TC
Interesting scenario.
TMS : 9/10/2014 4:22 pm : link
Mara wants McAdoo as HC down the line. Gets Coughlin to stay one more year, take his last shot at another SB, and tutor McAdoo in the HC position. Next year finally unloads the incompetent Reese and brings in a new GM. I can live with that.

If that were the case, don't you think he'd unload the whole lot in one shot and let the GM pick his coach?
Francesser also said Eli is being a good Soldier about the new offense

He's never been the type to interfere in that way. The Giants are a very business like organization. He's not stepping on his coach's toes like this. I think he would have moved on from TC rather than override his authority. Not saying he wasn't involved or part of the discussions just not dictating coordinators to his coach and GM.

Unpossible!
I think Coughlin is stuburn
BigBlueDownTheShore : 9/10/2014 4:43 pm : link
and is insisting we try to run run run, when the west coast offense is all about opening the run up with short passes. So yeah i think there is some validity to the statement.
Need to hear audio of this one

because I can't find shit.

Mara might be hypnotized by Jerry Reese, but I would be surprised if he's involved in the hire.If he is,we are in deep doo doo.
I don't know.....
BillKo : 9/10/2014 4:43 pm : link
I saw TC on the pregame show of ESPN, and he seemed very enthusiastic about the new offense motivating everyone in a very positive way. Almost re-engergizing the offensive personnel.

I don't see TC as a guy, being that animated, while giving lip service.

over a decade now. Tell him to shut up and just talk about Neilson TV ratings scores, because we give a shit.

If he happens by random chance to be right on this it is only because he pulled this golden nugget out of his ass, not because he has any actual knowledge on the situation.

it's the only thing that makes sense:

(that's what the whole "go home and think about it/talk to Judy" stuff was)

We're bringing in a new offensive scheme - the exact opposite philosophical scheme you've committed your entire coaching career to. Are you in or out?

The crazy thing would be if Tom decided "out". Who the hell would be the Head Coach right now? Probably Perry Fewell.
and as colin Great Blue North
area junc : 9/10/2014 4:51 pm : link
has pointed out, it raises questions as to what exactly Coughlin's role on the team is?

He doesn't know the current offense we're running.

He isn't in charge of it.

The writing is on the wall for both him and Eli, IMO.

No

You unload them as the best replacement becomes avaulable. It may be they didn't think anyone that could do the job was available last offseason. Change for it's own sake is dumb. Change when you can upgrade, however....

if there ism going to be "regime change" then the owner/operator should absolutely be calling the shots.owning the team is what he does-he's the president AND CEO.the idea someone else should be calling the shots is silly.Especially if regime change means a new GM. Even if it didn't I have no conviction that Reese is better suited to hire a new coaching staff than Mara.

He has a right and a responsibility to speak out about the success of the team. That's not the same as dictating coordinators so your first paragraph is BS.

And as far as a real regime change that is his job and his job alone so your second paragraph is BS.
sometimes, you have to save TC from himself

kinard : 9/10/2014 5:20 pm : link
... My guess is that if Coughlin didn't like the coordinator that Mara supposedly forced on him, he would have walked away and retired.

If Coughlin stubbornly continued to coach with a new guy calling plays who he didn't buy into then he's not as smart as many think he is and he would be doing a disservice to the entire organization.

I have to laugh. People call to talk to him and then they thank him for taking the call. Really? He should be thanking them. And then he responds what's up in such a manner like its a bother to have to converse with the chump who had the nerve to call and then have to talk to him.

So much heavy lifting. It must be a killer for him.
