THE OFFICIAL WEEK 2 GUIDE FOR "WHO TO ROOT FOR!"!"!"?

TommytheElephant : 9/10/2014 8:29 pm
Yea. It's back.
Why? Because what the fu*k else are we supposed to do for the next 16 weeks/15 games??!?!

If anyone has a better idea, please let me know.
We are forced to play the cards we have been dealt.
The deck may look shitty, but we have to play...we must play....(where's piranha at?)

My intent is to try to find the most ridiculous rooting angle when there isn't one, reel in the far fetched, Note the obvious to most oblivious to some, and piss off those who take this personal.
My intent is to not root for a losing season for draft choice...
My intent is the playoffs.
My intent is to find any possible angle to go against AFC vs. NFC to root against the Jets.. which makes no sense as it pertains to the Giants.
My intent is victory.
My intent is all that's left...

BB'56 ...This is for you Bruce

Steelers vs. Ravens (Thursday Night)
What better way to get back to football and away from the Ray Rice story...then kickoff the week with Ray Rice's former team? If you are tired of this story dominating the headlines, just wait until CBS kicks off their Thursday Night contract with a game that has more front page stories than the back...
The AFC North plays the NFC South. Obviously during week 2, its quite difficult to pick a team to root for based on any potential wild card implications.
However, Strength of Victory is a potential tiebreaker (as common opponents are not).
I hate the Ravens but if forced to make a far-fetched rooting interested pick, you have to root that the records in the AFC North are bad.
RAVENS

Dolphins vs. Bills
When I looked at the schedule on CBSSPORTS, the caption next to it actually said "Tickets starting at $130".
AFC East plays the NFC North. Both teams are 1-0, However the Bills are 1-0 vs. the NFC, and the Bears won't get to use that strength of victory tiebreaker in this case. I am going to stick with the Bills, in the event the Bears might beat them, and we are looking at strength of victory tiebreaker.
Too bad we couldn't carry the preseason wins over for common opponent...
BILLS

Patriots vs. Vikings
One of the easiest and most logical choices this early in the season. AFC vs. NFC.
PATRIOTS

Falcons vs. Bengals
See the above. It's funny because these are two teams I can't picture playing each other.
What happened to David Klingler?
BENGALS

Cowboys vs. Titans
Cowboys are 0-1, and their next four games, after this week:
@ St Louis
New Orleans
Houston
@Seattle
It is very possible to see a hobbled 2-4 (dare I say 1-5) Cowboys play the Giants on October 19th...Not sure what meaning the game will have by then.
Either way...
TITANS

Jaguars vs. Redskins
Jacksonville became themselves during the second half last week.
Redskins next 4 opponents after this week...
@Philly
Seattle
Giants
@Arizona
JAGUARS

Saints vs. Browns
AFC vs. NFC. You never know when Drew is away from a cushy dome...Although the Browns did go into New Orleans and beat them 4 years ago... I remember Scott Fujita with a big play...
BROWNS

Lions vs. Panthers
Both NFC, Both 1-0.
The Lions don't play the East. They only are allowed to beat the shit out of one of us in the division.
The Panthers will play the Eagles, but strength of victory is a far cry in the divisional tiebreaker. I would normally root for the Lions as they seem to shit the bed midseason. But, the Panthers have to play an absolutely BRUTAL schedule. They will be taken care of eventually...And we might have a common opponent here.
PANTHERS

Seahawks vs. Chargers
This is tough because I hate the 49ers so much and don't want them to win that division, but I have to stick to AFC vs. NFC.
I have to.
I have to....
CHARGERS

Rams vs. Bucs
NFC vs. NFC...Bucs are the better team, and we play the rams so why not increase some strength of victory?
RAMS

Texans vs. Raiders
We play the Texans next week.
TEXANS

Chiefs vs. Broncos
The AFC West plays the NFC West. Strength of victory? (seems to be a common theme this early)
CHIEFS

Jets vs. Packers
Have to root for the Jets for AFC vs. NFC but I will be happy when they get shit on, who am I kidding...
Its early enough in the season where I don't have to root for the Jets, right?
Refuse to say

Bears vs. 49ers
NFC vs NFC. Try to keep the NFC standings somewhat close.
BEARS

Eagles vs. Colts (Monday)
Maybe we can take the division at 8-8.
COLTS

Sorry I had to rush towards the end, but I have to run an errand ...
Week 3 I will spend more time, and last season I had some key theme advice. I believe the best one was finding a common player in the past between both teams. So I'm all ears for this season.

Go Giants

And as ALWAYS, much appreciated

.
strength of victory
ray in arlington : 9/11/2014 1:17 pm : link
looks farfetched, but the Giants made the playoffs in 2006 via strength of victory, and missed the playoffs in 2010 due to strength of victory. so it does happen.
