Cleaning house is not a option but a must. All coaches gone, except maybe McAdoo, you don't want to start ALL OVER with a new offensive playbook, assuming that McAdoo does a decent job, let Coughlin retire but fire ALL the other coaches. Player wise try and get the team younger and look for another quarterback because after next year Eli is due for a new contract and his current contract eats up too much cap room. We have several options, either offer Eli a three year contract that is cap friendly and that will not eat up nearly as much cap as his current contract or release him after the end of the season if we are convinced he his no longer a franchise quarterback then go with Nassib who seems to play good under this new system or try to do what the Saints did a few years back with Drew Breese and get via Free Agency or trade a quarterback who we believe can instantly step in and at least help us get to the playoffs or if we are in the draft position draft Winston or Marobola sp?? as our future quarterback or a quarterback who would be NFL ready FROM DAY ONE.
If Coughlin and Reese are both gone i expect Eli will be gone because the Coach and GM would want to get their Qb which probably means Mariota or Winston...
the best prt would be no more fewell and dropping back into deep zone on 3rd longs any more...i hate the tampa 2...
Winston is only a franchise QB in the California Penal League.
But if the worst happens, I think there would be a thorough house cleaning. Which is unsettling to say the least.
The truth is in 2011 they sucked too until something ignited them when they played the Jets and Cruz scored on that 99 yard pass play. Up until that time people were bitching and moaning and Tom was on the hot seat then already. How much more of this are we supposed to accept.
Again I know we are lucky to have two Super Bowls in the past seven years but it seems Tom is constantly on the hot seat with this team. Even in the years they won those two championships. No one expected them. 2008 was their best year under Tom until Plax almost blew his nuts off. Other then that they have been a middle of the road team.
If Eli is released, they need a competent play calling pocket passer that the receivers and coaches have confidence in, not a guy who is a project and has questionable legal issues bound to come back to haunt him in the new NFL.
Sign some Free agents to big contracts that haven't played in 2 seasons
Draft at positions of strength and ignore Tight End Linebacker etc
You can't just evaluate a record. For example, what if most of their losses were by 1 score or less?
You'd have to review the actual game tapes and see what wasn't working. Was it certain players that don't fit the new scheme? Was it the scheme? Did things improve as the season went on? Why/why not?
Maybe when things are evaluated you come to a conclusion that the new scheme is flawed and you make a coaching change, but you have to remember that they did a massive reshuffling last season. Is it worth it to change schemes and going through growing pains all over again?

Even if all 13 losses were all by one score or less, it'd still be time for major changes. 13 losses is 13 losses.
Hopefully bring in some cheap young FAs - guys who have talent but didn't really "make it" at their 1st stop. They don't have to be stars, but just getting some guys who can compete for spots, especially at LB and OL would be nice. We should have a fair amount of cap space if we really shake things up.
It will be really important to have the right coach/QB combo. We'll need an offense that emphasizes the QBs strengths - not pigeon-holing him into a pre-existing offense.
Could Reese get fired? It's possible. But there is absolutely nothing in this organization's history or its established MO that would suggest that will happen.
I also think, if the offense shows signs of coming around, that McAdoo could easily stick, and that he might even be a candidate for promotion - like Wade Phillips in Denver when Dan Reeves was fired.
7-9 probably gets TC to retire, and the new HC chooses his staff. Fewell and Quinn go. Ross on the bubble unless this year's rookie class truly shines.
6-10 or 5-11 gets you that, plus a major housecleaning in the scouting/personnel dept. Ross definitely goes. Reese on the bubble unless the season is lost due to an Eli injury.
4-12 or 3-13, Eli injury or not, gets you that, plus Reese goes.
2-14 or worse, They probably are firing everyone but Pat Hanlon and Nilay Shah.
This all should have happened this past January but ownership is just too loyal at times.
This is so intensely stupid that it beggars belief. Especially considering that Winston was never charged with a felony and the NFL is a league that willfully employs convicted felons on a weekly basis.
Just. Stupid.

while the org's history can't be dismissed, you also can't overlook the likely possibility that John Mara and Steve Tisch will have a different approach than their fathers.
This team is weak in many areas and we are in year 2 of at least 5 years of mediocrity.
After factoring the past 3 seasons, absolutely. And 13 losses? Really?
I would expect Fewell to go, and a big shape up in personal department.
Regardless of whether or not Eli is going to play out his contract, the Giants need to start thinking about a replacement. We need significant talent upgrades on the offensive line and we need them ASAP. The secondary is decent, but Rolle is getting old and Stevie Brown does not look to be the same player (albeit he is only 2 games back). Our linebackers are absolutely TERRIBLE. Beason is a quality player but is getting older and has too many health issues. This franchise needs a full rebuild. We've drafted two lineman in the top rounds of the draft the last two seasons and we need a few more. The Giants need to decide what kind of team they want to be. Do they want to be a finesse team that throws it down the field? Or do they want to be a powerful, physical team that runs you over and feeds off play action? On defense, we need an entirely new attitude. Start by instilling a mindset of dictating to the offense instead of sitting back and attempting to react.
It's going to be a long rebuilding process, but hopefully ownership makes some rational decisions going forward and does what is best for our beloved franchise. Being a fan of over 30 years, I've been through the good, great and bad. The 2 super bowls won by the current regime were worth it to me, regardless of the frustrations we are going through now. Coughlin and Eli Manning have solidified themselves as all time great members of this franchise. However, all good things must come to an end at some point and it's time to rebuild for a shot at another championship caliber team.

Neither was Ray Rice nitwit. Nor was Adrian Petersen. But I don't want either of them. And I also don't see Winston as a top flight NFL QB
If they shit the bed for 2 years ( no playoffs ) then its time to start over IMO.
But this year ? I think we are in year 1 of a 3-4 year rebuild in my opinion.
The one thing that happens if we go 3-13, we get a QB in the draft ;)
Yes, in fact I would have fired Reese last year, and at this point, I would fire TC and Fewell now, and let Mac be interim, and find a DC. Anything is better than Fewells TERRIBLE game plans, and lack of in game adjustments.
How many times has he done stupid clock mgmt, and it bites us in the a$$ then the writers and fans blame the players?
Those 2 gut runs for 0 yards at the 10 min mark, then calling a timeout at 4:32 are ALL TC. Thats what he does that irks me, can not manage the game, at all. That 2nd and 9 at 10:10, when he handed off, both me and father looked at each other and said "he just did it again, a double digit loss is coming". Our football crew we watch every game with nodded and agreed.
We got TC'd, again.
Thank you Victor. Unless TC was responsible for poor drafting 2009-2012 and injuries to players he's not to be blame for a shit fest. The guy is a HOF coach & we were so damn lucky to have him.

why would you want to extend coughlin another 2 years at 70 years old. im sorry its time for a change..and a new staff, David Shaw from Stanford is a guy id like them to hire as head coach.
