NFT: Movie: "The Drop"

I saw the movie "The Drop" last night with Tom Hardy, James Gandolfini, and Noomi Repace. It was a limited release this weekend but when the buzz catches on it'll get a broader one. I really liked it. Tom Hardy might get Oscar pub for his role and for those who loved Tony Soprano you're going to get a similar performance from Gandolfini here.

Did anyone else see it? What did you think?

I haven't, but I've heard good things.

But speaking of Tom Hardy, I just saw Locke in which he not only stars, but is the only person on camera. The whole movie is him talking to people on the phone while he's in his car. Might sound a little strange, but I really liked it and found it to really hold my attention.

and you have to see it to appreciate how good Tom Hardy is. Just him in a car and a car phone. You will be riveted

What a really great movie. Everyone's performance is top notch. You would never know that this Tom Hardy if you had seen him in Locke.
Eric see Locke which I think is on Netflix now. Not sure which one Hardy should be nominated for. Locke is superb but the Drop will have a wider appeal

and knew I was watching a great actor. Bronson is another small story base on a real person and it is not Charles Bronson

It's for Locke... a 90 minute one man show, excellent performance.

Gandolfini was just doing his regular gig. Very good but not great. Hardy was so understated but by the end he'd just taken over the whole film. Very impressive.

Story was a little tired, but overall a solid movie.
