The Giants have 5 straight games with at least 4 turnovers

Mike in Long Beach : 9/16/2014 3:28 pm
dating back to last season. The longest active streak in the NFL.

We can talk about Cruz's drops, the O-Line, injuries, etc... but none of it matters if we don't stop turning the ball over.

I know this is not an Earth-shattering revelation, but I feel like this statistic really puts an ugly (and appropriate) face on our biggest problem.

they should open a bakery.
the o-line
MookGiants : 9/16/2014 3:33 pm : link
playing better would significantly cut down on the turnovers.

The O-Line could've played like they did in 2008 and we still would've had 3 against Arizona.
I think if the Giants turn the ball over less,
Randy in CT : 9/16/2014 3:46 pm : link
they will have the ball more, thusly giving the Giants more scoring opportunities. IMO, this will give the Giants more of a chance to win.

1-2 year fix is baloney. This is a mess that's going to take a legitimate, workable plan (who's your coach, who's your qb, what are you building TOWARDS), years of solid drafting, and wise expenditures to correct. We're throwing shit against the wall right now because everyone involved is in cover your ass mode. 4 turnovers in 5 straight games? Cmon. Stop trying to polish the turds. Weed them out. What are we now? What's our identity? Establish the run and play defense? The league is designed such that I could throw for 300 yards on a fairly consistent basis, and we cant play defense. Square peg, round hole, etc.

This is going to be a long year.
This offense, and certain players, as much as I love them,
Dave in Hoboken : 9/16/2014 3:51 pm : link
are a turnover machine.
jeez...
BillKo : 9/16/2014 3:55 pm : link
we turned the ball over 5 times in the finale versus Washington? And won? Versus Detroit too?
Great stat

if only it were correct. Cant get on ESPN too much for calling a 1 game streak a 5 game streak. Hard to remember the only 2 turnovers in last weeks game.
yes..that stat is wrong....
BillKo : 9/16/2014 3:58 pm : link
even opening day we had just two (by Eli).
Bad research
RinR : 9/16/2014 3:59 pm : link
Well they only had 2 against Detroit week 1. 3 vs Washington in week 17; 2 vs Lions week 16.

Not that it matters.....
It really is amazing...........

That a team under the watch of such a detailed coach who harps on not having turnovers is so careless with the football. I love Coughlin but I have to wonder if his message is getting through.
We had to rally with 3 in the 4th
Reale01 : 9/16/2014 4:02 pm : link
To get to 4 this week.
I PREDICT
tomjgiant : 9/16/2014 4:04 pm : link
that streak ends this sunday.
Blue...I agree
WideRight : 9/16/2014 4:05 pm : link
Its a reflection of coaching, and we know that Coughlin stresses fundamentals. He may not be getting his message through.
FAIL
tomjgiant : 9/16/2014 4:23 pm : link
Sorry but only 2 turnovers in each of the Detroit games.

Don't let facts screw up a good rant!
Factually correct or not...

(yes that's important but not to this point) the most frustrating part of it:

TC was big on this when he got here, famously fixing Tiki's fumbling. Further, PF was known for takeaways in his D - IMO this zone style scheme absolutely requires that piece to be effective - and iirc we haven't been so good there at least since last year if not b4.

Yet we stand here, whatever the official plus minus is, I bet we are way near the bottom over the last at least yr if not 2-3. Not conjecturing as to why...but outside of pts that's more or less the most important stat in the game.
Like I've said before..

Take a good look at the other teams starting offensive lines in our division and that should give you a good reason why the Giants are last in the division..

Throw in a bad DC, and that could be the main reason why the Giants are almost dead last in the NFL rankings..
