already are grabbing for the handle on the toilet bowl. I am sure by the last week of the season if things are as bad as "most" think, then the handle will pressed down and a new regime will be coming to you next year.
Then what to do about our Eli and his nearly 20 million dollar cap hit.
Decisions, decision, decisions. What a business this football stuff is to all of us here.....
Than me last season but I'm willing to wait til mid season at least. Certainly doesn't look good.
This is most likely not a playoff team. Question really is what record is unacceptable? Competitiveness is also a measure. You can lose to a better team but losing like the last 2 weeks can't be the norm
RE: I guess that depends on what happens the rest of the season
is because TC understands something that will never change in football. If you take care of the fundamentals, understand your job as a player, you have a good chance to win. He needs players that understand this simple truth.
at least officially. He will be walked out the door in a gala retirement party. Reese will not be fired. I do not want to see either fired. Reese has started to rebuild the team. The talent is getting better. Tom is an excellent guy to be teaching through the transition. There will be no wholesale changes in scouting, either. If that is what Mara wanted, the changes would have occurred before the college season started.
should have been gone after last season. I know it is not the Giants way but why wait anymore. Its clear the biggest problem going into the off-season was the OL. Clearly it is still a huge problem. Fire Reese now lets start giving TC the players he needs starting with better OL.

Couldn't agree more. I want the people in place to stay in place and do their jobs better. They've proven more than capable.
is after last year 0 - 2 people said 'we're 1 game back in the division' and at 0 - 3 still just a game and a half back in the division, by 0 - 4 it's 'we just need to go 9 - 3 down the stretch to get in"
people will give up much quicker this year. At 0 - 6 you still had people counting on running the table.
... Please ... all I want is for John Mara to promise to become a spectator and give up ALL say regarding football operations (other than selection of a GM)... but stay the FUCK OUT of the draft room and all other personnel decisions.
The entire front office should go. Despite their efforts, the team has note gotten better in any crucial position since the SB win. No move they seemed to have made really panned out and the players they were able to acquire aren't understanding the playbook. Still too many "miscommunications" for a professional franchise and way too many boneheaded plays for a team focused on discipline.
It's not on the players as much as it's a failure of leadership and that's on TC and JR.
I'm not sure it's in the DNA of the Maras to fire someone like TC or even JR but they need to go if the franchise is to move forward and become competitive again, IMO.
Isn't going anywhere without a shot with a head coach of his choice.
That's what mcadoo is. They are rebuilding and TC will retire soon. TC should have taken an exit with gilbride and let mcadoo build his staff.
Players are not afraid of TC or his staff. There is no fear for my job pressure a new staff would bring.
Please tell me who really thinks that in the NFC Atlanta, TB, Wash, Dal, Chi, GB, St. Louis, AZ really have more talent across the board.
Again, how do you blame a GM for having his top WR get injured and not recover. Then lose your speed RB to retirement.
Every other top WR who has gotten hurt has come back to form as a No 1 with exception of Nicks.
He has brought in players for the OL. There is not 1 person on here who could honestly say they knew that reject S. Ohara and undrafted FA R. Suebert and 5th rd pick Deihl were going to amount to anything.
Yet now we have bitching continuously and it has been 2 games. He drafted a OL in the 1st rd last year and a 2nd rd this year. He brought in a G who had started 57 games.
He gave Beatty a contract coming off playing well for 2 years. If he did not choose to do that, what were the options in FA - there were NONE at LT. There were none in the draft either.
If he had gotten rid of all the veterans a year earlier, the same group would bitch that he needed to keep vets around the franchise QB that it would be a huge risk.
The guy has brought 2 Championships, was a contender for another until dbag shot himself. Not including the brain fart 7 minutes that cost a no 1 seed.
Until Wilson retired, he hit on every 1st rd pick and most of the 2nds - no other GM has done that.
Does he make mistakes - absolutely - everyone GM does. I do not see where you get a better GM
Maybe his flaw is trying to build a rounded team rather than trying to be top level on 1 side of the ball
Is there really any question? The guy never should have been hired. He certainly should have been fired last year. What the hell kind of defense does Perry coach? Our defense is a joke.
unfortunately, I don't think Reese is going anywhere......
However, I think TC will be asked to step down. He's no youngster anymore and the team has gotten worse the past 3 years. He deserves better and Reese has not really helped him, but I just think the owners sill say its time for a change and thank TC for what he's done for this franchise. He'll be missed.
Given the tenuous nature of Tom's situation I found it interesting that a young first time OC would take the job knowing full well if the season goes down the toilet it probably means a new head coach and I would think an entirely new staff.
Then again maybe he took it for the experience alone. Makes sense. Then again maybe he was reading between the lines that if Tom is let go he would have a real good shot at being the head coach. Given the way the Giants do things that would not surprise me in the least.
I say that because of the Perry Fewell situation. I think while he isn't the worst DC he is far from being a good DC. Yet Tom keeps him on and the defense keeps having communication issues. You would think that after five years on the job that would not be an issue. But it remains a major concern.
Reese was gifted the two hardest things for a GM to find - a quality HC and an elite QB. He shouldn't be 'allowed to choose his own coach' merely because one was here when he was hired. If anything, allowing the roster to become so mediocre with Eli and TC should put his head on the chopping block before either of theirs.
And fire Tom Quinn, of course.
RE: RE: I guess that depends on what happens the rest of the season
nearly every decision he makes is wrong.... He has completely destroyed the team..TC steps down...Then fire Fewel,Quinn and Mark Ross....Reese and Ross should be let go now so the new GM and head of scouting can start to evaluate the roster and prepare for the draft during the college football season.
the problem and has been all along. Pushed by Accorsi and now we are stuck with him and his hire Ross. Unable to evaluate talent and draft or acquire football players to fill the vacancies that are part of a team aging in the NFL. Sooner the better.

Um, no. How did you ever come up with that hair-brained idea?
Wait, oh shit.

Guess It's Too Late To Fire Coughlin

Isn't it?
It's the giants way for a long time now.
Tom Quinn
all 3
