I was at the game, and did realize Williams was in the last drive but didn't make the connection about Jennings maybe being benched.
I think that's a real bad move by TC. Maybe you bench or rook, but not a veteran like Jennings who brings much more to the table running and receiving, and experience in a big spot than Williams, sans the fluke fumble (which it was).
Fellas....I loved your review....extremely well done
but at what point do we start to analyze the coaching of Tom Quinn more closely. Connor mentioned one dumb coaching decison and Eric mentioned another but I didn't see anything with regards to the special teams unit.
This has been going on for years and, ultimately, isn't the coordinator responsible. Gilbride was criticized, we see Fewell get it all the time but Quinn seems to escape despite all evidence to the contrary.
I would just like to see more of a focus on his work and the special teams lack of performance. I know this is not all his fault but it has happened year in and year out. Surely, the top guy has to be accountable.
that's not what I said. I didn't say his drop caused the special teams disasters. But it certainly led to them. If he doesn't drop the pass, those plays don't happen.
are a number of high-priced guys on this team who are getting paid to make plays and who are not making them. Victor Cruz is one. Antrel Rolle is another.
guys getting the big bucks need to start making plays, and stop making bone headed mistakes. Also, TC is getting paid big bucks - benching Jennings with the game on the line was the height of foolishness. I thought it at the time, and mentioned it on another thread. Nice reviews by both Eric and Conner. Of note on the Jennings missed block, I think Richberg should have picked that guy up blitzing, and it through Jennings off a bit, so he missed as well. My gut tells me this group of lineman they have will develop and be a decent group in 3-4 weeks. I still would like Mosley to start if he's healthy. Let's see what we have in him.

100% correct. We only had 1 Pro Bowler last year and we are set to have the same amount (or none) this year. For a NY team - that's pathetic.
The guys we pay to be impact players......aren't. And they are often the guys contributing to us losing, as was the case w/Jennings + Cruz last week.
Hard to blame Quinn this week when Bowman had Ginn wrapped up and several other players whiffed in their efforts. That return is 100% on the players.
And Cruz absolutely deserves a large share of the blame. He ran his mouth all week about needing to get the ball more and then when he got it, on a play (drive) that could've iced the game, he dropped it. He had the 1st and room to run and the offense was actually looking good at that point.
Of the game that last drive. The Giants always do that though, and it drives me bonkers. It's impossible for them to win at that point so what's the point? Then, he throws a pick on last play of game and Inside The NFL shows that play twice in their highlight package. So annoying!! He played great and they show that play and not the two fumbles??

And the returner was Ginn, one of the best in the business.

But that's the difference between a good team, and not so good team. Handful of plays.
