....putting lettuce and tomatoes on your sandwich even when you don't ask for it? If I wanted a salad, I'd eat a salad.
There was a place in my town where I grew up where, if you said you wanted a cold cut sandwich, unless you affirmatively told them not to, they would put lettuce, tomatoes and mustard on it.
Why???
yeah its based on the same thing from dibellas... but its really all about the sesame seed bread with both of those subs.
If you want the truth - The Ritz at RIT made the best RB sub anywhere in rochester. it wasnt a big sandwich, but the roll was fresh and the beef was perfect. LTO, mayo, s+p, provy, banana peppers and pickles. dash of oil and vin.
they also had spicy honey wings called Tiger wings. the bomb..... The Forest here in Richmond has a sauce that is damn close. so fucking good and crispy.
With tomato and lettuce because only racists hate tomato and lettuce on a sango.

first, any sandwich from a good "Mom & Pop" deli, especially one on the East Coast, blows away any franchise sandwich shop.
Getting that out of the way, after eating at Jersey Mike's, I'll never go back to Subway unless I have no choice. The fresh bread and freshly cut cold cuts at Jersey Mike's taste infinitely better to me than Subway.
100% agree, no comparison at all between the two
and their roast beef is actually left with some red, and the cheesesteaks are pretty damn good.
they opened a jersey mike's near me in Mass. I have literally never seen a business close so quickly in my life. it was open less then 6 months before becoming a quizno's. it's now a brazilian deli or something.
there are too many local sub shops for these chain places to break in. We have a Subway, but it's not crowded.
Dav has uncovered my dark secret... racist towards vegetables. Take that rabbit food and get it the fuck outta here!
This is such a timely post. I'm in Ft Lauderdale for work and I got a Publix sub for lunch that I didn't get a chance to eat sitting in my fridge. This thread just reminded me of it in general, and this post got me excited for it.
Also, tangentially related but since I've been down here, it's impossible to find any good breakfast sandwiches. I'm getting back into JFK at like 6 PM, but I don't give a fuck about the time, I'm still going to get a bacon/egg/cheese/potatoes/hot sauce/toasted onion bagel.
We tried to get breakfast here on the weekend before heading to Miami for the day and went to a cracker barrel in a remote location half a mile from our hotel. 55 minute wait for average food (we'd tried it earlier in the trip).
I love NJ diners and breakfast food in the tri state.
I do however, like lettuce, on my sub or sandwich, hoagie or whatever you wanna call it, sometimes because it makes the sandwich "more filling"
When I eat a sandwich it feels like nothing. I eat it in one whole swallow. Nothing. Give me anything you got on there.
I can't stand any of the "chain" sub shops, especially when a local deli can make a sub much fresher and usually cheaper.
