Fantasy Football thread: 17-Sept

TheEvilLurker : 9/17/2014 2:13 pm
First time starting one of these threads.

I have an interesting question: Adrian Peterson has been dropped by another person in our league. Do I pick him up to hold a spot for him?

RBs I have:

Doug Martin
Reggie Bush
Terrence West
Bobby Rainey (handcuff for Martin)

I would like to drop an RB, or possibly Eric Decker or Steve Smith Sr...I could possibly drop Delanie Walker (TE), if Vernon Davis can play.

Should I take a chance?
I would take a chance
bigblue12 : 9/17/2014 2:19 pm : link
And drop Decker
.
arcarsenal : 9/17/2014 2:21 pm : link
I would pick him up.

He was my first rd pick in the league I have him and he's one of those guys I can't drop. I wonder if Yahoo will change that if he winds up suspended for the year or whatever.
Arc - I believe they will
knicks3031 : 9/17/2014 2:25 pm : link
I remember a couple of years ago I had Jamaal Charles as my 1st round pick and he went down. Once they confirm he's out for the year he was removed from the "cant cut list"
need a defense...

Bears vs. Jets

Falcons vs. Bucs.
Falcons may be your best bet Dep

Hawkins vs baltimore or Wheaton vs Carolina?

That's rough, dep.. I'd probably go Falcons believe it or not.
I don't think I'd grab AP
Rocky Thompson : 9/17/2014 2:37 pm : link

Last week I jumped on Asiata and promptly traded him thinking AP would be back this week. Monday I was a genius! I got to tell you from what I've heard today I don't think AP will be back with the Vikings at all. Another team may takes a shot (Raiders?) but I don't really see it happening.

Until we see otherwise, Martin is the handcuff for Rainey.

Depends on your scoring, you get 2 more weeks out of West and then it's all Ben Tate ( until he gets hurt again), in a PPR league I'd say West is expendable for a shot at Peterson...
.
arcarsenal : 9/17/2014 2:46 pm : link
Asiata sucks. If this is going to be a season long thing for AP I'd be making sure I grab McKinnon. That guy could wind up being a huge asset in a few weeks.
yep very happy that I scooped up McKinnon
Osi Osi Osi OyOyOy : 9/17/2014 2:56 pm : link
Asiata should still be the guy for a couple more weeks, but sooner rather than later the talent of McKinnon is going to win out.

Pierre Thomas, Khiry Robinson, or both? I'm a PT owner and I'm hoping his veteran reliability gets him the majority of touches in New Orleans, but Khiry is such an exciting runner.
I also could pick up
dep026 : 9/17/2014 3:13 pm : link
Baltimore vs. Cleveland
Indy vs, Jags.

I think I am going to go Baltimore over Atlanta due to the fact I probably can use Baltimore later on in the year.
so i own both Charles and Peterson
Mr. Nickels : 9/17/2014 3:16 pm : link
as keepers. Very depressing.

Tonight is waivers I am 3rd

Is this the correct order:

1. Knile Davis 2. Antonio Gates 3. Ahmad Bradshaw

I could flex Gates but Davis obviously is Charles handcuff though he hasn't been ruled out.

I have Gordon and Ap suspended on my bench. For now AP is in the IR slot but soon he will cause me problems adding because he is listed as SUSPENDED not Out (which is bullshit imo he is Out not suspended)

Is there a small chance Peterson returns in October or gets a 6 game suspension and returns or is his career over?

Also Matt Ryan vs Tampa or Tom Brady vs Oakland
Personally,
kmed : 9/17/2014 3:24 pm : link
I'd absolutely hold onto AP or pick him up if I had the space. At least until things become a little clearer in the next few weeks. I also agree with arc regarding the Minny RB situation.
Advice Please
Saos1n : 9/17/2014 4:46 pm : link
My Team

QB - Jay Cutler and Tony Romo
RB - Eddie Lacy, Ahmad Bradshaw, Doug Martin, Bobby Rainey and Chris Johnson
WR - Brandon Marshall, Randall Cobb, Cordarelle Patterson, Kelvin Benjamin and Marcus Wheaton
TE - Rob Gronkowski

I have been offered Gio Bernard for Randall Cobb... I feel that trade straight up is pretty even, if not favored towards Bernard and given my RB situation, a little more favorable...

The thing is, I want Jeremy Hill in the deal as well and the handcuff... He requested Lacy, which I won't do....

How far do you go, BBI?

I'm 0-2...
So
HakeemNicks : 9/17/2014 4:57 pm : link
in my ESPN league you can IR Peterson but not Gordon.

I guess because Peterson isn't officially suspended.
UPDATE
Saos1n : 9/17/2014 5:12 pm : link
In the trade, I Would receive GIO and J Hill for Cobb and Rainey... I have DMartin... Thoughts?

I'm doing Browns Defense vs. Ravens.

The Browns are a solid football team, and have a really good defense. I expect that crowd to be bumping fresh off a win vs the Saints.

In my league it has Peterson as suspended and non-IR elligible.

I don't understand I use ESPN too? Or did you do this this morning when AP was just "OUT"
Ppr league....

Would u drop s. Greene for McKinnon. Other rbs are Charles, Stacy, k. Robinson, and k. Davis
I would..
arcarsenal : 9/17/2014 6:22 pm : link
I don't like Greene much at all this year. McKinnon has way higher upside.

In a league where I only need to start 2 WR's.. I'm trying to decide if I should drop Terrance Williams or Justin Hunter for McKinnon. I have VJax, Mike Floyd, Brandin Cooks and Josh Gordon for when he gets re-instated.
Asiata didn't suck last week
Rocky Thompson : 9/17/2014 6:54 pm : link

And McKinnon's too stupid to understand the play book. He's a physical specimen but the Vikings won't be able to run with either current RB rendering most of Minny's offense useless in fantasy. At least Asiata can catch a pass...
Brady or Ryan?
Rocky Thompson : 9/17/2014 7:00 pm : link

Can't trust Brady until he shows something even though he is head and shoulders better than Ryan, Roddy White hurt or at least limited, maybe Devin Hester picks up the slack, nobody knows what NE is going to do offensively, Steven Jackson at full strength, I'd reluctantly go Ryan...
He averaged 2.8 YPC...
arcarsenal : 9/17/2014 7:00 pm : link
... against a Pats d that Miami ran all over just one week before. McKinnon is much more talented. It's a matter of when, not if. Asiata just isn't that good.
I'd recommend doing the opposite
kmed : 9/17/2014 7:02 pm : link
of what this rocky guy suggests.
Shone Greene
Rocky Thompson : 9/17/2014 7:07 pm : link

I liked him a lot last week even though it's RBBC without Sankey being involved yet, if he can't get it done against Dallas, can't justify starting him anywhere else.

Drop his ass.

McKinnon's worth a long term shot but not something I'd even consider.

Love Khiry Robinson for the next month, Saints gotta run to keep the triple team off Graham...
Yes kmed
Rocky Thompson : 9/17/2014 7:12 pm : link

How bout that Roddy White injury before Reggie Wayne's?

Bernard only gets you so far, Jeremy Hill is still productive.

Cashed in Fanduel last week. First time playing. We should go in kahoots and play for some real money, ya know...
Asiata sucks
UConn4523 : 9/17/2014 7:13 pm : link
lucky TD early and was nonexistent after.

For me do I give Brady one more chance in a good matchup or try Cousins against Philly?
Roddy isn't missing any time..
arcarsenal : 9/17/2014 7:15 pm : link
.
Not arguing that arc
Rocky Thompson : 9/17/2014 7:16 pm : link

Asiata got me 20 pts in a PPR league, thank you very much. McKinnon = Sankey, talented but not relevant til Halloween, If you got the room, stash 'em...
Yes, I also started Asiata...
arcarsenal : 9/17/2014 7:21 pm : link
But it was because I knew he was going to get the bulk of the work regardless and was a good volume play. I think you can get another 2-3 weeks of ok flex points out of him but I don't think he'll last much longer than that before he starts to lose touches.
Thinking about rolling with Niles Paul as my TE
NYG in NC : 9/17/2014 7:28 pm : link
With Garcon at flex and Morris at RB. Would you do it or is that too many Skins? I figure Garcon will be targeted heavily since he was barely used last week and Paul has looked as good as Jordan Reed and will be targeted too. On top of that, Morris should gash the weak Philly run defense and Helu is hurt.
Matt Ryan had a poor outing because both of his Tackles missed
AnotherGiantsFan : 9/17/2014 7:44 pm : link
The game. That's a big deal.

Roddy White also hasn't missed any games. Stupid argument to be made. Production can't really be argued either since he's outproduced Wayne in both weeks.
Arc, I agree
Rocky Thompson : 9/17/2014 7:53 pm : link

AGF, you're bordering on stalking me. I wouldn't care but with 22 years of experience as a personal trainer and you do a hit and run on the weight lifting thread questioning me, I can only assume you're trying to make a name for yourself. I run too deep, go sniff someone else's ass please.

That said, the Roddy White comment was directed at kmed, he said Reggie Wayne was a bigger injury risk than Roddy White earlier this year, I disagreed. Roddy's limited in practice this week, Reggie is not. Point to the old guy.

I'll spend 30 more seconds on you and tell you that even though Roddy White played 13 games last year, he was injured and only used as a decoy in 8 of them. His injury history is misleading if you don't actually watch the games.

Now go away and monitor my posts quietly if you need to learn something...
AGF, pay no mind, I swear he said the same exact thing to me
kmed : 9/17/2014 8:02 pm : link
about using him to make a name for ourselves. He's funny like that.

Re: Roddy and Reggie...you can't guess who's going to get banged up first. I also wouldn't call Roddy injured. I'd say he's hurt, but an injury is one that keeps you out for a while. Regardless, picking who will get hurt first is guessing. It's not like picking who will get the majority of the touches in Cincinnati's backfield. That you can pick...if you are smart. Picking who gets banged up first is guessing. Roddy being on the injury report at all isn't ideal, but let's see how the season plays out before seeing who had the higher risk of injury.
There was a whole to-do in my league about picking up
kmed : 9/17/2014 8:08 pm : link
Asiata. I don't get it personally. It's not like he's stepping into a great RB system like Ben Tate for Foster. That offense is not good without Peterson. He was ok last week, but only because of circumstances with the game. They dumped it to him a lot because they were getting creamed and he scored a TD. I know nothing about McKinnon so I can't say whether or not he looks beeter, but I gotta figure he will get a chance. To me, Asiata wasn't worth it.

I picked up Brian Quick instead. It was strictly a numbers pickup, I haven't watched him play. I just like that he's gotten targeted so much and he has 7 catches per game. I needed to add a WR to my roster. Anyone have thoughts on him?
No question kmed
Rocky Thompson : 9/17/2014 8:10 pm : link

Roddy's "limited" as of right now, I won't hold that against you.

Could happen to Reggie at any time.

Do you love Khiry as much as I do this week? Do you see Arian Foster setting a new rushing record for a single game against the LB less Jints?
Quick
Rocky Thompson : 9/17/2014 8:13 pm : link

Nice pick up. St Looie was supposed to have a top 5 D this year, hasn't happened. They will play from behind, throw often and Quick seems to be the comfortable target. I missed on him in my leagues but would have grabbed him if I could have. ( does that mean yer gonna drop him now?).
I've never been great at picking the productive NO back.
kmed : 9/17/2014 8:14 pm : link
They've always rotated 2 and 3 guys in every game and you never know which one is going to be productive that day. I've always seemed to stay away from their RB's.

Have you watched Quick?
kmed : 9/17/2014 8:19 pm : link
He's a 3rd year WR(I always like them) who was a high draft pick. Is he just now "getting it"? Do they run plays for him and make sure to get him the ball early and often?

You claimed in the thread you lost 50+ pounds. That tells me you're just a fat guy who finally decided to get in shape. Which is great, but it doesn't mean you know anything about weightlifting or diet plans. Diet/workout advice is pretty easy to give for heavier, out of shape people.

The 6 meals a day thing was the tell tale that you don't know much. It's a myth. It doesn't work any better than eating 3 meals a day. You can claim it helped you all you want but I'm sure a lot of things could help you since you were so out of shape. That broscience wouldn't always work for a guy trying to cut from 15% bodyfat to 11-12%. Congrats for losing all that weight though.

As for Roddy White, look at the last 5-6 games of the season. And if you want to talk about actually watching the games, you wouldn't shit on Matt Ryan when he had no time to throw the ball due to his tackles being out.

I'm sorry that you take people disagreeing with you so personal.
Can't tell k
Rocky Thompson : 9/17/2014 8:31 pm : link

Too many QB changes in St Looie. I did well with Brandon Gibson as a sleeper 2 years ago. Fischer is run first, play D, big plays later. If you have Quick getting the most looks, he's a decent bet since the D is not playing up to expectations.

Zac Stacy as a 3rd rd pick or higher is a waste, Cunningham is there to stay. This ain't the best show on turf anymore, it's closer to smash mouth. If you picked up the top target on the Rams in the 3rd week of a 12 team or more league, I say well done...

I need to eat to achieve an optimal physique.

Davante Adams looked pretty solid in the Jets game. Released Laadarius Green and snagged him up. A #3 WR in GB could be solid value for a bench.
