?
I've always noticed a lot of team do this in September, and then switch to dark jerseys at home as the weather cools down. The Giants have done this exactly one time that I can remember - the home opener in 2000 against the Cardinals, when Ron Dayne and Tiki Barber both went over (or close to, can't remember) 100 yards rushing.
Is there really something to this? Do players wearing dark jerseys really get hotter and more uncomfortable in warm weather? (I assume this is why it's done)
Maybe down south it might be different
Correct. It's then time for autumn colors.
We also wore white versus the Cowboys, forcing them to wear their blue jerseys which back in the 70s/80s was their bad luck uniforms.....we stopped doing that in 1988.

White at home the entire season.
Here were the teams that did it just this past Sunday:
Tampa Bay
Carolina
San Diego
Buffalo
Jacksonville also does it too. Even Philadelphia has done it wearing their home whites in September thinking back to the '06 comeback game. Arizona before they got the dome would do it for certain home games.
Any little advantage you can get I guess. It seems to be a very long tradition of this happening.

FYI Philly is wearing white at home this year until their green uniforms come in. Nike didn't have them ready in time,
