Canadensis, Pennsylvania (CNN) -- Police in Pennsylvania appeared to be closing in Friday night on the suspect in the slaying of a state trooper.
Police have surrounded a home where Eric Matthew Frein is believed to be hiding, a local government official told CNN. The home, which was broken into, is not far from Frein's family home in Canadensis, in the Poconos Mountains.
Police exchanged gunfire in the area with an individual believed to be Frein, the official said.

similar to this a few yrs ago in the forest of Ca I think (?) where they flashbanged and burnt the cabin to the ground the shooter was still inside...?

I guess you could call that case similar. That was Christopher Dorner who murdered several people including police officers and was trying to kill more. He fired on them from the cabin where he was taking cover. He had just killed one or two police officers right before going into the cabin...

And some people on the wonderful world of the internet defended that piece of shit.

but plans don't always work out. He had two rifles, face paint, dark clothes and survival training apparently. He probably is a little nuts, because normal people don't ambush and murder unsuspecting State Troopers. I just think his plan didn't workout like he wanted. Unless of course he gets away or isn't where they think they have him pinned down. Then it would appear to be working since he has not been caught.

In a swamp in an area he knew like the back of his hand, he left all his identifying info in the jeep, he's running around the area his parents live in... I think he's very confused and maybe he's delusional and thinks he's in a war? I have no idea. But if my plan broke down, I'd get out of dodge.

I don't doubt that he's a little crazy. He might be setting up for a shoot out. I doubt he will go out peacefully, if he still has ammo.

"survivalist" training is being severely overstated in the press. Just because some freak buys guns and cans of beans doesn't mean he's Rambo. A couple days in and he's breaking into houses to hide.

Reports are coming out locally that they have IDed Frein and he refuses to give up.

is our local paper, they are reporting it. I also have been listening to the scanner. Officers were told to use lethal force if suspect didn't surrender, and to know they have officers inside the perimeter. I live right in the area so I've been following this very closely.

and also saw the quotes was more like "If a a positive ID is made and he refuses to surrender, deadly force is authorized."

So I don't think they have a positive id yet.

I was just going by what the paper tweeted and reported. They made it seem from he was IDed from a scanner report. But, I didn't tune in until after I had saw the report.
