So I'm considering taking a trip to Copenhagen and Stockholm and was wondering if there were any BBI travelers who had visited or vacationed there with restaurant/museum/travel recommendations.
I posted here before my trip to Iceland and got a number of great tips out of it, so I figured I'd try again.
Thanks!
not sure how long you are going for.
it is expensive city
some amazing restaruants there
if you are there for more than a few days .. rent a bike
the bike lanes are extensive in the city and it is a fun way to travel
there seems to be more bikes on the roads than cars
tourist stuff
little mermaid statue
tivoli (amusement park right in the city)
the zoo
christiania section is worth the trip ... hippies took over a former miltary base and tried to make it into an utopian commune .. now it just has some nice up and coming restaurants
and of course is has a hash/pot market
each kid on our team stayed with a kid on the Swedish team hosting the tournament.
I had a great time, the tournament was from 12/26 - 1/6 or something like that - basically two weeks.
Loved it, but one thing that stuck out was while I was there, we had about 4 hours of sunlight per day, it snowed every day (not a ton but every single day) and the people were not very hygenic.
otherwise I was mostly impressed with a new year's eve celebration we had in a castle and were allowed to drink Heinekens, since there was no drinking age.
I'm sure this is not what you're looking for.
Thanks everyone for the suggestions!
I'll definitely email you if we end up booking it, but I'm 90% sure we'll be going at this point.
Regarding the post about Bornholm (the Island)
Just remember that you really have to be willing to pay big
Money. It is very popular and beautiful, but also very expenssive.
And remember that if you are here for a while, you are only 3-4 hours from Hamburg and 6-7 hours from Berlin by car, so they could be used as day trips.
Possible day trips:
Roskilde for the Viking Ship museum
Helsingor for Helsingor Castle
(Didn't do this but wish I did) Frederiksborg Castle
In Sweden I only had time for Stockholm, although I hear Malmo is nice to visit. Could make sense if you're staying in Copenhagen.
Ditto on the Vasa in Stockholm, it's a must. Old Town is fun to hang out at night.
We had fun playing the Punch Bug game using redheads instead of the car. I recommend that :)
It's expensive as hell though, particularly the food.
Probably from Copenhagen to Malmo. Since 2000 there has been the Oresund Bridge, which is for both rail and cars, and quite incredible (i.e., it's really long). I went over it from Copenhagen to Malmo by rail, changing in Malmo for the Swedish rail train to Stockholm.
I sent an email to you Koldegaard, not sure if the email from your profile is the right one to use.
