@BobGlauber: Goodell: "There will be changes to our personal conduct policy. Nothing is off the table." Hopes to complete process by the Super Bowl.

@ProFootballTalk: Goodell says experts hired by the NFL will explore his role in the personal-conduct policy process. Sounds like he's giving up some power.

@RapSheet: Goodell on if he’s willing to give up some power: “Everything is on the table. We’re going to make sure we look at every aspect.”

@JasonLaCanfora: Goodell says "everything is on the table" in terms of surrendering power on personal-conduct. "We can't continue to operate like this."

@ebenezersamuel: Goodell says he should continue as commish because "I acknowledged my mistake..." But hold up hold up hold up. So did Peterson and Rice.

Even assuming Goodell lied about the tape, comparing the Rice/AP mistakes to that of Goodell is like comparing MLB to tee ball.
What do you expect him to say? He's going to have to testify at any hearing that comes out of this. He's not going to say anything about that.
I don't think this press conference was a good idea. He got some bad advice, but seeing how the PR at the NFL has been lately I can't say I am surprised.
@ebenezersamuel: I'm not sure Roger Goodell has to step down. Have not really thought about it at all. However, I'm not sure his justification makes sense.
Quote:
@BobGlauber: Goodell asked if he has considered resigning. "I have not. I’m focused on doing my job and doing it to the best of my ability."[quote]
[quote] @ebenezersamuel: Goodell asked about Ray Rice and how he thought it was portrayed. He does not answer the question. Dance around it. Wastes my time.
Quote:
@ebenezersamuel: A follow-up question..Commish, what did he say? And he sneaks through it by using the "I have to respect the appeal process."[quote]
[quote]@awfulannouncing: Roger Goodell is telling us to trust Roger Goodell because Roger Goodell is the only one who can fix this mess created by Roger Goodell.
Quote:
@ebenezersamuel: Is it me, or is Roger Goodell kinda-sorta lawyering the press? As usual...[quote]
[quote] @ProFootballTalk: Goodell's reluctance to talk about what Rice said in deference to the appeal process guarantees Goodell will be testifying at the hearing.

@ebenezersamuel: Goodell says he 'does not know" where Robert Mueller is in investigating how the delivered Rice tape never made it to Goodell.[quote]
[quote]@RapSheet: Goodell on why just two games originally for Ray Rice: “We made a mistake in letting our standards fall where they should be.”
While I have not been a fan of Roger Gooddell, I don't really understand the universal and societal scorn being directed at him and at the NFL here.
Listening to public criticism of Goodell and and hearing the questions in the presser, it's as if many think Roger Gooddell is responsible for these acts of domestic violence and sexual assault.
Adrian Peterson abused his kid because he chose to act that way. Ray Rice knocked out his fiance because he chose to do so. These incident have nothing to do with the NFL or with Roger Gooddell.
I applaud the NFL for wanting to to rid the league of people who act in this way, but it feels as if many think the NFL owes them.
The NFL didn't create these horrible people who play in their leagues. Their parents, their communities, and they themselves did.
I agree sir. People want him to resign. That's why the media and everyone else is acting all appalled that he's not answering the questions the way they want him to. Nothing short of him saying "I have looked over my performance as commissioner the past few months and I feel I have failed the players, owners, and fans of the NFL. Because of this... I am resigning from my position as Commissioner of the NFL" is going to suffice.
"There are so many questions they are not asking, folks" Â

The NFL had no interest in ridding their league of these people until the recent media coverage. That's driving the call for Roger's head: do we have to hope that he/NFL gets caught with his pants down again before wrongs are righted going into the future.
He's the commissioner for goodness sake, what the hell has been doing all this time? Just sitting on his ass. He needs to throw some more money at NOW because research and administration fees are the only way to end the problem.
So insincere

Not to mention the fact none of them cared about DV prior to the Rice video...

Where? Oh,that. That's not Ray Rice, that's Smokin Joe.

He's gone full-blown color commentary.
Why would the players be tweeting nasty things? It's some of them who created this mess.
