Giants kicked ass today, with a clean game could have dropped 40 plus on them.
Team is already better than last year, granted that is not saying much.
I do not watch as much non Giants NFL as I used to, but it does seem like the Giants have a lot of blown coverages in the secondary leading to big plays.

We get our first win next week book it .
There were a couple of third down calls head scratchers
But Eli Looks Better now than the last couple of years .
Randle still seems to lack fire almost like he goes
through the motions .
o-line made some real progress still wish we had
Will Hill .
I know it makes a nice "trouble-stirring" story, but Cruz did not complain about not getting the ball enough. He took ownership of his responsibility to the team.
""I think in order for us to be successful, there needs to be an increased number of targets in my direction," Cruz said, via the New York Daily News. "And in other playmakers' directions. Just like Rueben Randle as well, in my opinion. But that all comes with the continuity, that comes with getting the running game going, that comes with building what we want to build as the game continues."
One thing...maybe I'm reading it wrong because I am tired but under the Duds,.Donnell sectionit appears you wrote cardinals instead of Texans. Again im exhausted so I might be completely off lol
For a UDFA who had never caught a pass or made a block in a live game before this year, he has been close to a revelation.
Speed, size grace, hands and athleticism, and he fell on the on-side kick very nicely.
UDFA's who never played before in an actual live game will make mistakes, and we will live with them. He made some nice blocks, and he gives the Giants a TE other teams have to account for. We weren't supposed to have any of those.
is absolutely awful. So bad that with two minutes left, with the ball at midfield and a 13 point lead, they still had Jennings taking hits even though he already had over 30 carries. Williams can't catch, can't block, has no vision and goes down like he was 130 instead of 230.
Markus Kuhn is another dud. Bromley can move the pocket. The only thing Kuhn can do is speak German.

I disagree. Though Williams hasn't been great I think the Giants left Jennings in there simply because they trust him more (he's the veteran) and they absolutely had to win this game. There is no room for error going into week 3 with zero wins. You ride your bell cow to victory and thats what they did. Jennings being in there is no indictment of Williams.
Williams isn't running with the confidence he had in preseason Â
Game speed is faster than preseason. He will get used to that. Bad hands are bad hands; he will learn to be a mediocre receiver and that may be good enough.
This is the best he has looked in a long time. The whole offense looked much better today. The defense was very good as well. It was nice to see that we actually can compete, I havent seen this team play this well in at least 2 years. It looked like it was going to be more of the keystone kops with the fumble and botched snap but they kept it together and played well.
I dont think Donnell was a dud here, yes he had a fumble but the guy has looked better that any TE we have had in years. DaMontre Moore had the blocked punt, that is all stud right there. Robert Ayers may be our best FA addition. From the DT spot he has been dominant in every game, maybe he is not a star but a good solid player and a pleasant surprise for me.
Another Dud for me is Jaquan Williams for the 3rd straight game. He continually misses tackles and turns what would have been a good play into a negative. Should have had a big sack but again gets faked out of his shoes and then on the long run he was eaten up by a blocker. He needs to learn how to break down for the tackle and play under control. Until then he is a liability. Stevie Brown is another Dud for me, maybe he is still recovering from the knee but he really looks bad out there.
Maybe not a dud, but not so hot either. The fumble, while explainable (the tackle was right on, upward on the ball-carrying arm, popping the ball out), just isn't supposed to happen. On another reception that ought to have gone for more, he exhibited a strange side-to-side kind of stutter step that did nothing to fool or evade the onrushing tackler -- but did all but stop his forward progress. Still, 6 receptions for 45 yards wasn't that bad.
You are right, fumbles like that aren't supposed to happen. Â

Shit, this was the most time, Eli had in the pocket, in a long time.
Actually, thinking about (but not be able to review) the fumble again, the tackle was so right on the ball-carrying arm, I doubt anyone could have held on to the ball, no matter how experienced. So my "not supposed to happen" was unwarranted.
Maybe a more experienced player turns away before the hit.
Even on the off chance that this is the case, the Giants staff gets a gold star here. There is a reason they didn't go after a journeyman TE. They KNEW he had talent and a willingness to learn, coming off last year's practice squad. More upside than any TE since Shockey, without the neurosis.
That hit was perfect and on the ball, he had it tucked, it just unfortunately was the right spot at right time. I can however count many times Donnell came up with big catch to move the chains. If we are calling out players for one bad play, then home come DRC and Rolle aren't in the Stud category?
Donnell as been one of the biggest bright spots to this offense so far this year.
..just can not happen. Was it only one play? Sure. But, in a game that the Giants flat out dominated it was probably hard to find duds. Donnell has looked good but you simply can not fumble the ball. Luckily it is a team game and the Giants as a team picked him up and he had some nice grabs (a one handed one I think) to contribute after his fumble.
It makes sense to select those who committed the few, but costly, errors that even kept this game remotely competitive.
Best thing about yesterday was that the Giants rolled the Texans. They may have been the worst team record wise last year, but this year they were 2 - 0 and the Giants kicked their ass.
To me this shows the Giants are already better than last year with time to improve even more.
- Even with helmet on the ball, Donnell has to know when/where contact is coming from (not sure he had 2 hands on ball). He also needs to stay on his feet more and stop leaping around. More fumbles likely coming with him.
- Nice to see Cruz show up after bad last week, but getting caught from behind so easily? Come on man...turn it on.
- Prince had the nice pick but was beaten a bunch of times, and one time was bailed out with a penalty.
- D-line and LBs not punishing a scrambling QB...is Fitz the second coming of Randall Cunningham?
- D Moore's punt blocks are the ONLY thing special on this Special Teams for the past 2 years.
with some people here in regards to placing blame on the player. Sometimes they just happen, and it has nothing to do with technique or awareness.
In this case Donnell had caught the ball, turned up field and was immediately hit by the defender. There was no time there to check for every defender that was nearby him, moving the ball to his outside arm would have been dangerous and, most importantly, the defender put his helmet right on the ball.
sounds like a real Giant fan piece. Agree on the deep coverage point, just shows how smart we were to drop Will Hill. Don't agree at all on Donnell. Sometimes the other guys make good plays, and the DB simply put his helmet on the ball with unusual force. Last week, without any real cause, Jennings dropped the ball. In this game such things happen. The test for Donnell is whether he learns from this and brings it all back like Jennings did this week. And Cruz, too, less lucky and successful can lead to more trouble, but if the individual responds well, they prosper. The O-Line too. After two real workouts against Det and Ariz, they seem to have felt they were back on a level playing field and not trying to climb a mountain. They were ready to roll. Looks good going forward, at least we`ll get a break from all the BBI, the O-Line is no good, stuff.
Same with Zac. Everybody is entitled to a few mistakes without being called a dud when the majority of their play has been very good as in the case for both Zac and Donnel.
No Dud. We were supposed to have nnobody at TE. Suddenly there's this six-six guy who catches everything and leads the team in receptions and while his fumble was unfortunate , the guy is certainly one of the best things that has happened to the Giants.
Team is already better than last year, granted that is not saying much.

Big win today, it was fun to watch.
Studs and Duds: New York Giants 30 – Houston Texans 17 - ( New Window )
I thought the same thing. Brown was fixed the defensive right side way too long. When he he glanced back you could see the oh shit reaction. IMHO

- JPP was a handful for them, even with Fitz getting away too often.
Gentlemen - those three above "studs" are really the way we have to win.
The coaches must have said something to him, because he didn't do it the rest of the game.

It was a good defensive play, plain and simple.
