mostly did well...there were a few plays where he got blocked at the point, including the 46 yard run. But his 4th down stop was huge (Kiwi and Patterson helped to disrupt that play too).
Hankins has filled the void of Linval this year. He's also been able to collapse the pocket with authority like Hamilton used to do. It's a real joy to see a high draft pick work out.
JPP played a hella game 2 weeks in a row. It looked to me that the Texans were forced to hold him on several plays that were not called. Great effort in a contract year.
and it really spotlighted Herz's ineffectiveness at his position. Watch the tape closely there.
Herz is mirroring the LB. He pursues right into Kiwi's back. Now Kiwi was pushing and driving his man into the backfield, and maybe Herz was purposefully running into his back to add to the push. Yet he lost the runner and was unable to make anything more than a quick grab at the air as the runner cut into the hole left there and flashed right by Herz. Not only was that a first down without Hankins, but it was a long gain because Herz was in no position to do anything to stop the runner.
Was it just over-pursuit by Herz? Not sure, but it sure didn't look fundamentally sound to me and left him as a virtual non-factor.
JPP and Hankins give other teams problems.
