Justin Pugh became a man by NFL standards

dpinzow : 9/22/2014 12:09 am
I know Watt beat him for one sack but he did a phenomenal job protecting Eli for the most part. Pugh gets the game ball this afternoon because if it wasn't for him, Watt could have totally dominated this game and made life hell for Eli. He helped shut that side down and kept the pocket mostly clean for Eli to dominate.

There's pretty good potential with this OL once Schwartz comes back. I think we'll have a pretty good running game going to our right.
The whole line gets the game ball.

Pugh did well

as did Richburg and Jerry.
I loved watching the Jennings TD...

Jerry just flattens his guy - literally and then Pugh gets in the hole and just throws his guy into the pile. Watching him do that was amazing. the size of the hole Jennings had at that point reminded me of what having a good line could be like. AMAZING!
It's been a bit of an under the radar thing

But the O-Line is not playing poor at all this season. I didn't even think they were all that bad in week 1 either, to be honest about it.
They were bad in week one

And throughout preseason. Let's call it like it is. But they've gelled these last two weeks and that's all that matters.

Exactly. Baptism by fire, after the two weeks against the Lions and Cardinals DLs, and now the Texans.

I've killed the OL, but they were very good yesterday.
The excellent

Thing is, they have been up against, 3 of the best d lines, in the nfl. So, they're getting, great experience

Pretty much
Wait, I thought Jerry was garbage?

I just read on BBI on Friday that the Giants should have kept Herman instead of Jerry because Herman outplayed Jerry in preseason? Ignore the fact that Jerry was coming off an injury during pre-season....

Watt was moving all over the place
oghwga : 9/22/2014 7:05 am : link
And attacking different guys but everybody held up.

For Christ's sake, just stop it! Stop making sense!

Watt vs our line all game. Watt was frustrated and our guys didn't back down. There was lots of pushing and shoving after each play and just because it was watt our guys couldn't care less. Nice toughness.
The OL played

very well. That's where the games are won or lost. Up front.

OL was excellent yesterday. They were awful against Detroit, less bad against the Cardinals, and very good yesterday. Let's hope that trend continues. Containing Watt is a good sign that we can contain Kerrigan.
I thought the OL played well against the Cards
PatersonPlank : 9/22/2014 9:21 am : link
We just killed ourselves with turnovers.
Our line was MUCH improved vs Cards

And Simply dominate yesterday... I am SHOCKED this group is capable of back to back good to great performances
Some people want Jerry to be garbage
Curtis in VA : 9/22/2014 9:40 am : link
because they like having reasons to pile on after the trouble he got into with Miami.

He played well yesterday and I'm hoping his character is improving as well.
He played lights out
BillyBoy8384 : 9/22/2014 12:38 pm : link
so did Richburg and Walton.
I loved

how on one play - Jennings tackle-breaking run down the sidelines in the red zone - there was a fight for yards and Pugh came in and knocked someone off the pile. I didn't see a lot of fire in this line, and seeing it there was a welcome sign.
I was hoping against odds
mrvax : 9/22/2014 12:55 pm : link
that Walton would be a decent center. Just keep improving a little each game...
Did PFF tell you that Walton
kmed : 9/22/2014 12:55 pm : link
was good this week?
This is super encouraging
Sonic Youth : 9/22/2014 2:10 pm : link
If Walton gets his legs under him and can get back to his old form, along with continuing improvement by Pugh and Richburg, we might be on to something. Hopefully Schwartz can come back and give us a shot in the arm.

If we can get the line sorted out, Eli WILL make this offense go. It's our biggest obstacle.
I can't recall
Mike in Marin : 9/22/2014 2:26 pm : link
ever seeing a patchwork (so many new guys, not that they are all talent-less) OL come together in such a way. I know the new WC offense has a lot to do with making it harder on the defenses, but holy crap, they have looked amazing in pass blocking the last 2 weeks and the run blocking yesterday was just beautiful.

I had hoped to see the offense progress as they new system came together, but this was way beyond what I could have hoped for.

Now if the D can keep progressing on the 3rd and long situations, we could have a chance to be relevant this season.

Just an amazing job by the coaches and team. I am thrilled.
