I was part of the chorus killing Walton & Beatty. Walton played a very very good game and William Beatty was beast like good. J.D, II guess it does take time to get rid of the rust, William you are far from done you are playing like 2012
get into game shape, same with Rookies. Doesn't mean they won't play poorly next week but the bailing on Beatty after the season we had last year with that apalling line was ridiculous.
one game. Walton looked bad during the preseason and the first two games. So did everyone, frankly. Need to see them string together a few good games. They don't need to be perfect, just reasonable and decent. Eli has succeeded behind an average OL.

Hows this for a franchise LT? @Giants threw 29x with Will Beatty in the game. He didnt allow a sack, hit, hurried or pressure on Manning.
the Walton sucks and Beatty has no heart and is a beating waiting to happen. 1 game? Ok, will they get beat again? yes they will. Do they suck and stink? NO!

I'm a Beatty supporter, but he did get burned pretty badly by Watt on one of the few negative run plays. But it's Watt, so that happens.
there isn't an LT in the game who hasn't been burned
but the last Beatty we saw was with arguably the worst OL in the league last year. I don't even bother using that as a barometer as its impossible to assign blame.
he was a big reason why it was the worst OL in the league
I just think it was the sum of the parts. Bad play is contagious and hard to break when so much goes wrong. Cohesion needs to be had on the O-Line and there was less than none last year.
If Beatty strings off a few good games in a row, last season should be put to bed.
them before they got their sealegs back? Beatty was hurt last year and did not perform well. The year before he was fine. No reason to believe he won't be good enough to do his job. Walton? How does anyone kill a guy the Giants thought enough of, just because he has been out the last two years? If the talent is there(the Giants thought so and they know far more than we do), getting back in shape and manning a position is like riding a bicycle..He's certainly young enough to come back.
It was ALWAYS about TIME and PATIENCE. It wasn't happening overnight. Schwartz' injury was unfortunate, but when he returns, he'll give this line the talent I believed it had when these guys were acquired/drafted..
How anyone could assess a new line during pre-season with their extremely limited snaps is stunning to me. Pre-season is about trying guys at different positions(where appropriate) in order to be prepared in case their linemates go down..But most importantly, the "work in progress" that many give lip service to but have little patience to let unfold, takes at least 4-5 games(with continuity) to get in sync. We're beginning to see that now. No surprise to this fan..
We've made mistakes in talent evaluation to be sure, but to me, much of it has been borne through uncanny injury..If healthy, This OL will provide Eli with just enough time to be the solid player he is, imv
I was thinking about starting my own post on that (tackle on the fumble). To me, that was the play of the game. That could have easily been a 95 yard fumble return and probably is if Beatty doesn't come up with that play or diverets the returner's route. If the Texans score, it could've been same old Giants and they don't recover. They don't and the Giants went on to win the game fairly easily.
Beatty played bad last year but so did the rest of the line. He got very little help because of it. I wasn't completely down on him because I always saw some hustle plays like yesterday. The play he got hurt on was another example as he was hurt as he was running down the field to either make a tackle or get a block. When you see hustle with talent, there is a chance.
As bad as the negative ones, except there's been a much longer recent track record of negative play.
What is the recent track record, idiot? Two games of adjusting to one another? Most who know football have said it would take perhaps well into a third of the season to mesh; to see what we have..
BB56: The point is, WHY were you and others killing

If the entire line including Jerry & Richburg are playing well, do you really think that Schwartz would just replace one of them? Or, do you leave well enough alone and let Schwartz be a backup?
I really thought his performance last season was partly due
to a ripple affect of poor OL play stemming from the interior. I thought if they could fix the interior he wouldn't feel as overwhelmed and start playing better again. Hopefully the line can build off of yesterday's performance.
If the OL can consistently pass block and run block this is a winning football team

Excellent question. Schwartz was a big FA signing for us and TC has no history with the guy(unlike O'Hara, Diehl and Snee, whose experience he seemed to lean towards whether their temporary replacements were doing well or not) and my GUESS is that he goes with the performing line and has Schwartz as his backup FOR NOW..
Why isn't Herman on this team? Where is Quarels? Arrrrrgh@!!!
Sorry to miller: Enoch--you in the wastes? I am and loving it about 10 hours in.

Yeah, not much time in yet (the baby was sick this weekend), but it's a lot of fun so far.

I had to leave them poor sumbitches in the Ag Center to die. Still unhappy about it. . .
I will make a new thread on Wasteland in a day or two. It will be fun to compare build strategies and stuff.
Hope the baby gets well soon. Take care.
We should wait a few more games and see what kind of team we really have.
Fans have a right to bitch and moan when their team has been as bad as ours the past two years.

He was not as bad in Detroit as it first appeared. He was pretty good last week and he was fanatastic this week.
His run blocking is never going to blow people away, but his 1st job is pass protection and thus far it more like 2012.
Next week is another good test with the Skins outside rushers.

But it is exactly why teams don't pay much attention to what we say.
