It's spilt milk, water under the bridge, no losing sleep over, but I happened to accidentally surf on the game review or whatever with Mariucci and a couple of other bloviators and they were raving over the Arizona defense as if it were the second coming of the Steel Curtain.
Excuse me, but didn't we practically have our way with these guys last week? And it wasn't that hard. Running was a problem, but Eli was pretty much shredding them and the game was well in hand offensively until the Cruz drops, the Randle drop and the Jennings fumble.
I know we're bitched and complained about this in other threads, but don't these guys ever pay attention to what happened in the games? Arizona's defense might be a great as they say, but last week Eli picked them apart and our O-line gave him the time.
End of Vent. Thanks for listening.
It's encouraging that our offense is performing the way it is so early, I expected it to take longer.
Keep improving, HUGE game this Thursday.
They've got a good team. We should have beat them given their injuries, though.
I think we will score at will against the NFC East opponents.
The Giants dominated a very good DL yesterday. Hopefully we will be able to run the ball more like that than against the Cardinals going forward. Will also help that the offensive lines we face should be of lesser quality since we faced two very good ones the past two weeks.
From a passing standpoint, he's very much like Stafford as a pocket passer who takes a lot of vertical shots. We've allowed quite of a few deep completions thus far.
I think we will see the O move the ball, but the real test, IMO, will be how the D plays on thursday.
I can see a score much like the Skins-Eagles game.
The Giants moved the ball on AZ on a possession basis, but points are what is important not yards.
Do we ever get tired of stating our that the Giants opponents are missing "key people'. The Eagles played the same QB's last year and rode it to the playoffs. I never hear apologing from other teams that the Giants had to play with 3rd string C & G's last year and their 5th RB.
You play who you play - everyone is missing people
That sounds like the typical uninformed analysis we hear on pre-game shows. The stock answer when one of these guys is asked about the Giants after a loss? "Eli has to play better"
Eli wasn't the problem last week, and he sure brought his A game yesterday
Thanks for letting me get that off my chest

Cousins doesn't have Megatron to throw to. If our corners play the way they should, there's no one on the Skins they shouldn't be able to cover.
I'm worried about our ability to stop the TE and the intermediate routes, and then when we adjust we will get beat deep.

barometer will be this week and how we handle Cousins.

DeSean Jackson and Pierre Garcon are better than our top two WR's and both are tough matchups for any corner. Prince and DRC are as good a combo as the Giants have had in a long, long time, but those two are still good WR's and if Cousins gets time, it will be hard to cover.
need a better pass rush or he could have a big night.
Detroit put Green Bay away yesterday, and Arizona took care of the 49ers. Then to look forward, Wash and Phil still have both to play (Ariz and Det), injuries or other factors could change them going forward, but there is no need to panic yet. Skins are hard to read, but Eagles have had three easy games, and squeezed out panic wins in each case. They have a will to win. Wash couldn't beat the Eagles, but looked good in their second game. Looking at the schedule and results so far, the Giants seem to just be a better, more solid team at their core than the Skins, and to have a lot more potential upside. But they are not yet disciplined and consistent. Giants should be able to run, but look vulnerable to deep passing attack. Hate to see Phil win, but with three days to go, that loss should give the Skins a bit of hangover. Giants appear likely to go 2-0.
Whatever one says about Kelly, he seems to have brought the team something to believe in -- a mindset they didn't have before and they seem to have coalesced around it.
That kind of fire is a helluva weapon and I think the Eagles have bought into it. All speculation, of course, but I have a sense that there's something that's different about them -- talent aside.
Thoughts?
Let's see how the pace wears on them. Coming back against the Jags and Skins isn't really showing the "will" as much as I think it is showing that talent wins over time.
They play Green Bay and Carolina.
Dallas plays NO and Chicago.
We play Lions and Atlanta.
Washington gets Tampa and Vikings.
Those are the only opponents we do not all share.
Losing to the Lions week 1, was a loss to a non-common opponent and in the end, isn't that bad.
I hope we can beat Atlanta in NJ, but they dominated us last time we played them. We owe them one. Bottom line is we need to win our division games, at least 4 out of 6.
Then we need to find at minimum, 4 other wins in the other 7 games. The Eagles injuries are mounting up and their defense is terrible. We sweep this division, we're in the playoffs, simple as that. Let's hope things continue to go our way.
re. Cousins - my impression has been that he's fairly mobile, not RGIII (pre-injury) mobile, but quick and able to avoid the rush, even roll and get the pass out on the run. He's not a statue.
Fitzpatrick was awful yesterday; I think Cousins is a stiffer test.

Fatman,, we all know about the damage injuries do to a team. And the idea of "will" may and can transcend them. It's an intangible. It may or may not sustain, but all I'm saying is I think Kelly has sold them on his "system" and that they've bought into it. Nothing more, nothing .ess.
I was pleased that we'd played well, and hadn't expected to win. But yesterday's performance has given me hope for this season that the previous six games had crushed.
