Eagles C Jason Kelce likely to miss two months

Dunedin81 : 9/22/2014 11:51 am

That line is serious problem --& gt;MT @howardeskin Starting to hear #eagles C Jason Kelce likely to have surgery. Could miss up to 2 months.

As Raanan says, that line isn't likely to improve. Foles was absolutely destroyed yesterday, both on that cheap shot and on a number of hits thereafter.
I don't wish injuries upon anyone
Ten Ton Hammer : 9/22/2014 11:53 am : link
but it's nice that the Eagles don't have incredible injury luck this year.
I see a buttfumble in the Eagles' future

...
Good.

Let the injuries keep happening. Let them feel what we had to go through
Foles was hammered
Greg from LI : 9/22/2014 11:59 am : link
And the Skins defense and pass rush sucks ass, too. Foles is playing on borrowed time.
Skins have a good d-line
BigBluePrestige : 9/22/2014 12:08 pm : link
actually. Solid DT's, Orakpo and Kerrigan up front scare me. Their secondary, however, is garbage.
Orakpo's rep far exceeds his production
Greg from LI : 9/22/2014 12:11 pm : link
Same thing with Kerrigan. I remember when Skins fans used to try to pump up trash like Adam Carriker as if he was worth a shit. Cofield is a decent plugger, nothing more.

had... There's still a bunch of season left.
Not to keep belaboring the same point over and over again

When praising the Eagles Offense it seemed that so many posters glossed over a few inconvenient facts.

Especially that the Eagles O-line has a similar makeup to the Giants line and had just put together an incredible injury free year after suffering through years of problems. People who complained numerous times about Reese putting faith into Baas and Snee would then a few threads later praise the Eagle’s offense without noting that their management was forced to reply upon guys with similar histories. Last year, they put it all together. This year, the odds are catching up with them.

While I’m sure that they had contingencies plans in place, it will be interesting to see if being forced to use so much of the back end of the roster for a little while will have a noticeable effect.
Jason Peters is due to blow out his achilles again by now, isn't he?

It should. It hurt the Giants a lot with a crappy Oline. Foles is a pocket passer.
Kelce is very good
Deej : 9/22/2014 12:19 pm : link
That's a huge blow to them.
I could see San Fran

destroying Philly this week. They need a win in the worst way.

excellent point. It is frustrating to see so many people say things as if the Giants exist in a vacuum.

We are the only team that gets injured. Every other team drafts excellent linemen and LB's. Our coaches don't ever make adjustments. Our training staff is the worst.

To listen to some of the idiots on BBI, the Giants should be a perennial 4-12 team. By that reasoning, we must have awesome coaches and gutty players to be able to over-achieve each and every year.
I'm curious as to whether any suspensions will come...
Dunedin81 : 9/22/2014 12:24 pm : link
from that brawl yesterday. Peters seems unlikely, if anything Baker for the cheap shot and maybe Trent Williams for jumping in when he wasn't playing would seem more likely.
Baker is the most likely
Greg from LI : 9/22/2014 12:25 pm : link
He was the one who set off the entire thing.
Things can change very

quickly in this league. Kelce was the brains and director of that line...now he's out. Let's see how they respond.
does Baker have a past history
GIANTSr01 : 9/22/2014 12:30 pm : link
of personal foul type plays? If not, it seems unlikely he'd be suspended.
and another thing
BillyBoy8384 : 9/22/2014 12:30 pm : link
everyone has to say "I dont wish injuries upon anyone" when their real gut reaction is yes! be honest you think NFL fans would care about one of our guys being out? Nope just say nice we wont have to deal with him for X amount of time. Injuries happen in football for those who got cut in HS
I'd be pissed..
FatMan in Charlotte : 9/22/2014 12:32 pm : link
if a Giant got suspended because he hit the opposing player legally and without targeting the head or using the helmet.

I'm already pissed McClain was fined for the hit the week prior on Stanton.

Meh. Some injuries don't bother me. A guy like Hall, or Desean Jackson, wouldn't bother me because they act like jackasses on a regular basis. But guys who seem decent enough, even Jeremy Maclin, you hate (or you should hate) to see a career or even a season cut short. And while Clowney being out may help the Giants, most of us are football fans too and we know the product suffers when exciting players are on the shelf.
I think Baker
St. Jimmy : 9/22/2014 12:34 pm : link
will get suspended. The NFL doesn't want QBs getting hit like that. That said, I thought it was probably in retaliation to what happened when the Eagles hit Cousins on the delay of game penalty, what I think was the series before where the Redskins missed the fieldgoal. If the call in the Giants game last week was correct, then this whole mess is on the refs for letting it go when the Eagles' did it this week.
Skins Dline will make several Olines look bad
Andy in Halifax : 9/22/2014 12:43 pm : link
I think they have talent on the lines.

As for the Eagles, this was bound to happen as they went through last year incredibly healthy. Luck won't last forever.
The game in San Francisco this week could be ugly for them.
Big Blue Blogger : 9/22/2014 12:45 pm : link
They do catch a break in not facing Smith or Bowman. The 49er defense looks rather ordinary at the moment.

After that, they get Lane Johnson back to replace third-string RT Andrew Gardner, who took over when second-stringer Allen Barbre went down for the year in Week 1.

The interior will probably continue to struggle without Kelce and Mathis. If Wade Smith has anything left, he might be playing before long.
I thought
RetroJint : 9/22/2014 12:54 pm : link
that under Chip, The Fat Prick, injuries were no longer an issue for the Trogs. Do you know that Chip has individual smoothies prepared for each member of his team that are tailored to their needs & are wholesome & so good for them? " I Love Chip. I really do." And with his Pretzel Women teaching the ball club the Lotus position and with the Kenyan long-distance running program, they would never sustain another injury. Plus with their goal of snapping on 12 seconds, they would destroy the opposition with their premature ejaculation formations. Just like Del Rio provided the "solution" to Coughlin's Byzantine ways his first season with the Jags.

Well the Eagles are 3-0. Good for them. The refs helped them win 2 & in the other game they were down 0-17 to a team that Alabama could probably beat. But they were lucky last season health-wise. Their luck ran out. Mother Dunne did long-distance running, Cybex & enhanced stretching for Fassel. We all know how that worked out.

I thought this was interesting:
"Kelce's surgery also forces the Eagles to make a roster decision, since they've already used their injured reserve-designated to return spot. Philadelphia will either have to keep Kelce on the roster, or place him on IR."
Jason Kelce to have hernia surgery - ( New Window )
Just to be clear though, the Eagle O-Line played very well
Jimmy Googs : 9/22/2014 2:12 pm : link
at the end of that game after putting in many replacements.
Eagles did not give up any sacks yesterday
ChicagoMarty : 9/22/2014 2:38 pm : link
that I saw

Skins did have some injuries of their own however as Jason Hatcher left the game with a Hamstring issue

The Skins OL also had some injuries which may be of more interest. Their starting left guard left the game when a knee swelled up on him. Their C left the game for a while

Nothing seemed to bother Cousins however.

He was a pretty cool customer back there
A similar injury/surgery knocked McNabb out for the year in 2005.
Big Blue Blogger : 9/22/2014 2:39 pm : link
He had been playing with the hernia, but aggravated it in Week 10 and wound up on IR because there wasn't much chance of him coming back. That ended the closest thing Eagle fans have ever experienced to a dynasty.
Kelce is going under the knife in September, so I imagine they will keep him on the active roster, at least for the next few weeks.
