Jose Pirela will start at DH tonight, so that is positive.
The Yankees claimed OF Eury Perez off waivers from the Nats. He hit .310 in the minors this year, mostly AAA, going 26/30 on the basepaths.
Very encouraging start for Tanaka, though I think the next couple days seeing whether he has any discomfort will be even more telling than was his performance.
An even more off the wall question, would any team in the majors consider a 6 man rotation? I think Tanaka would be the biggest beneficiary, and given Pineda's past health issues, I think he would as well. Obviously no one knows if CC can come back and be effective or if Kuroda will be back, but with Greene playing the way he has been, they could definitely pull it off, not to mention it would take some pressure off of the pen.
And A-Rod is not mobile enough for short at this point. Jeter wasn't really either, but A-Rod will be 39 next year, with hip problems, and hasn't played the position in 9 years.
And that's true about A-Rod, didn't think about his hip. Then again, god knows what he's been doing this season to try and recover...
I think you'll see something outside the box, I hope their answer isn't Stephen f-cking Drew.

After 9/1 callups a six-man rotation isn't a bad idea, but as old as our lineup is going with a short bench is a bad idea as it is. This is why the Yankees like having fringey guys as long men. Have an extra inning game or a double-header and you just DFA one of them. You can't do that with the Lindgrens and Tyler Webbs though.
Kinda guy Cashman loves!
