Q: Was Stevie Brown injured yesterday?
A: No

Q: Was he off the field late in the game more than usual for performance reasons?
A: We had made a position change there, and that is all I am going to say about that. He is not hurt.
well one thing is pretty clear- Tom hasn't lost the team

it's a long year, so who knows but he still has them.
It's about time............

play with no effort or play stupidly, get benched. I think this is a good move. Everybody knows now that play smart, play aggressively or get benched. I would rather see a player get beat by a superior player than watch a player just screw up week after week. Somebody is responsible for all this "miscommuniation." We know who now. Good for Coughlin!!
Brown
SGMen : 9/22/2014 8:41 pm : link
never had speed.

ACL now?

Loss of good head? Behre to play rest of year!
probably still see Brown on the 3 safety

package.
Wow. Stevie Brown does nothing in his first two seasons
Reese's Pieces : 9/22/2014 11:35 pm : link
with the Raiders and Colts. No interceptions in 23 games.

Then he comes to the Giants.

16 games.
8 interceptions
2 forced fumbles
2 fumble recoveries
3 tackles for a loss
11 passes defended

Was that year just a fluke? Every ball bounced his way?
Or is he not over the ACL physically or mentally?

That was nice to see, during the game and in the locker room. After Donnell's fumble, Coughlin didn't rip into him, at least what they showed on the video. He coached up his player in a positive way. I like how the offense and defense players congratulate and encourage each other. They all seem to be true teammates.

I think Coughlin continues to sound the right note to his team, every year as far as that goes.
Brown is awful
WillieYoung : 9/23/2014 5:02 am : link
That supposedly great year he had is based on stats, not performance. We were constantly beat deep that year and ended up with one of the worse passing defenses in the league in terms of yards and big plays given up. His only claim to fame was catching bad throws.
He was probably our worst offseason signing.
Situation with Brown is not suprising
Great White Ghost : 9/23/2014 5:56 am : link
Guy is coming off an ACL.He's clearly slower, and I wouldn't expect a guy who missed a year to be the sharpest just yet.Maybe he unscrews himself, maybe not. He's looks to be suffering the after effects of his injury, both mental and physical.
The lengths that people will go to discredit a player
Ten Ton Hammer : 9/23/2014 8:41 am : link
due to personal biases is kind of tiring.

Willie you cannot discount the year Brown had 2 years ago
Giants11 : 9/23/2014 8:57 am : link
big plays are big plays. Yea safeties are going to get beat, but he made a lot of big plays for this team to help them win games that year.
Interesting tidbit why Beckham isn't really a possibility this

week.

Q: Road teams haven’t fared so well in these Thursday night games so far. How big a challenge is that and how do you sort of condense it and do you make any changes from the routines you have done in the past in regards to that.
A: We do have a set routine in our way in which we prepare for a Thursday night game. We experimented with this in the past; this is the one that we like, the schedule in terms of bringing guys in late today and having our normal Wednesday introduction in terms of meetings. Really the field work is very minimal . We want them to see everything but we don’t want a lot of exertion in terms of…I want them to move around enough to help the soreness, work the soreness out, but we don’t need to do anything with full speed at all today. This is the way we approach this week and will continue to do that. We have a plan which incorporates all of our learning, gives us a chance through the use of jog throughs or whatever, get as much on the field as we can without taking away from the fact that you just played a very physical game and it is a very short week and we want to be able to play come Thursday night.

Q: Is Tuesday the only day you are able to run at full speed?
A: Well even if I do that it will be limited.

Sounds like really meetings and half speed walkthroughs. Not really the kind of week a rookie needs for his first game.
I bet Beckham is one of the best players on the team
Jimmy Googs : 9/23/2014 9:18 am : link
at half-speed walkthroughs at this point though...

Looks like players made it through the game with minimal issues

Bodes very well for a short week.

What's the word with Washington's injuries?

Eric once told me that Will Hill had probowl talent, and I called bullshit on him for saying that because of the sample size that we were dealing with. Stevie Brown demonstrates this point perfectly.
Anyone else notice Beckham right there in front to congratulate Cruz
ImaGiant86 : 9/23/2014 2:12 pm : link
on his touchdown when he came to the sideline? I knew that thread was bs calling him out.
So, if the Giants thought that Stevie Brown wasn't anywhere
Reese's Pieces : 9/23/2014 3:19 pm : link
as good as played in 2012, why did they let Will Hill go?

The 49er's Aldon Smith missed five games last year due to a DUI, and this year was suspended nine games for DUI, making a bomb threat at LIA, pleading no contest to three felony charges of possessing illegal assault rifles, possession of marijuana and probably some other stuff. Management and fans tried to get the league to reduce the suspension and allow Smith to attend team meetings while suspended.

Since the Giants aren't stupid, I think that they thought Stevie Brown was a solid player, or they wouldn't have waived Hill so fast.

i dont think brown, or any other player, for that matter
fame56 : 9/23/2014 6:17 pm : link
had anything to do with why we waived will hill..

we waived will hill because he did not give any indication that he was willing to take the necessary steps to deal with his addiction and did nothing to offer any hope that he would become more reliable as a person who could be counted on to contribute to the organization

if he makes the necessary changes in his life and goes on to a long and prosperous career in the nfl, that will be a nice thing to happen, and I wish him well

at this point, however, I wouldn't bet on it
the Giants are much more of a "stand up" type organization
PatersonPlank : 9/23/2014 6:37 pm : link
than the 49ers. If Smith was here he would have been let go too.
Have you been watching Reefer Madness?
Reese's Pieces : 9/23/2014 7:45 pm : link
Is Hill the guy so addicted to Mary Jane that he ends up in a mental hospital for life?

You could be right that Hill is not disciplined enough to be a reliable NFL starter.

But I would like to know if you think the 49ers should have waived Aldon Smith. Smith was arrested for DUI twice in two years, once with his blood alcohol at double the legal limit. He was caught in possession of weed and other "pills." He was found stabbed at a house party at his house to which the police were called by sound of gunshots. Last season he missed five games getting treatment for his alcohol addiction. In July he was sentenced to 11 Mondays on a prison work gang and three years probation for drunken driving and weapons offenses. (Originally felony, bargained down to misdemeanor, three illegal assault rifles found in his home.) The NFL suspended him for nine games.

Do you think Smith deserves another chance?

I still say that the Giants, if they didn't think Brown was a player, would not have left themselves in the position of having to start a fifth round rookie at a safety spot. This was Eric's take:

Quote:
Brown has superb size for a safety and is fast for his size. He lacks ideal quickness. In 2012, Brown not only became a ball hawk, but also became a dangerous returner after the interception, averaging over 38 yards per interception return. The big question with Brown was 2012 a fluke?

I'm sure that they'll give him another shot, after some good practices.
