Anybody recall seeing this on Sunday?

Ten Ton Hammer : 9/23/2014 10:04 am
"The Giants showed a new wrinkle, with Pugh a few times moving over to the left side, lining up outside left tackle Will Beatty." “Something we put in this week and something we will see where it ends up,’’ Pugh said.

They using Pugh as a jumbo TE?

definitely not aware of that

I wonder what the blocking scheme was in that set. Were they double teaming the DE or did Beatty in effect become the guard?
don't recall any "jumbo" sets

outside of the goalline. Maybe just an off-balanced line?
err, unbalanced line
GIANTSr01 : 9/23/2014 11:13 am : link
not off-balanced
Correct

It's only a jumbo-set if an additional lineman came in to line up at RT and Pugh was lined up at TE.

This was an un-balanced line, where the TE lines up at tackle (as an ineligible receiver) and the tackle (in this case Pugh) lines up essentially as a TE outside the opposite tackle.

Not very common in the NFL but very typical formation in HS and college.
Did not notice that.

Thank you for posting.
I thought I heard one of the announcers mention
Matt M. : 9/23/2014 3:03 pm : link
an unbalanced line, but I couldn't tell who was unbalanced, as they cut away from the replay very quickly and from a bad angle (you couldn't see the numbers). I thought I saw a "5" as the second number on the jersey at RT, so perhaps it was Fells?

The TE can line up next to the Guard but be uncovered (by a WR) so he would be ELIIBLE. Likewise, on the other side, the extra Tackle can be covered by the Split End, so he is ineligible. In this case, the Tackle (Pugh) wouldn't even need to report to the referee and the unbalanced line is more of a surprise to the defense.
