In 2008. Didn't stop them from earning the top seed. Even their 86 and 90 schedules were brutal.

Panthers played well last year and won the division. They also earned a tougher schedule.

Tough schedule, on paper. But who knows who will be banged up when Carolina faces them; a lot of times it's not who you play, but when.

The Giants' 1990 schedule was far from brutal.

Ravens, Bears, Packers, Saints have all looked very beatable. Even the Eagles and the Falcons have holes that can be exposed. It's not as bad as it appears at first, IMO.

Giants 2011 schedule was brutal. People bitched about how a 9-7 team won the SB, well flip the giants and 49ers schedules that year and both teams go 11-5.

Any team playing in the NFC East in those days had a brutal schedule just because the NFC East was the toughest division in football

2x Cowboys (who were on the rise after 1-15)

Then out of division the Giants played these teams in 1990:

@ SF (14-2)
BUF (13-3)
MIA (12-4)

It was difficult enough

That being said, 1986 was a more challenging schedule

2x Skins
2x Cowboys (who were good in 1986 until Banks KO'ed Danny White)
2x Eagles (easy on the scoreboard, not easy because Buddy Ryan's teams threw cheapshots galore)

@SEA (10-6 and missed the playoffs)
@LA Raiders (never an easy game in those days)
