In this offense, Eli looks almost exactly like Aaron Rodgers.....a slow Aaron Rodgers, but I'll take it! Haha
Exactly. Rodgers is terrific, but that offense is made to make QBs look really good. It's such a good scheme.
It only makes QBs look really good if they are smart enough and quick-thinking enough to take advantage of what the defense is giving them. It wouldn't be a good system for a QB like Kerry Collins.
nickname for Larry Donnell? Larry Legend is taken.
was at the game at the club level. definitely refs are very, very bad. terrible call on the paul hit - a wr ducks his head down and gets hit hard and it's a penalty; he was certainly not defenseless. and then he's down by contact - huh-how is that possible when goes down to make the catch - just stupid, weird calls. and two giants get hit late and/or hit in the helment and no call - weird! and the non-td for randle was laughable; you need to make a football move in the endzone - really? guess you can fumble in the endzone - refs are a joke. but yep, hard to think we'll get 6 to's per game. and enjoy watching the giants the rest of the season. I'm very tempted after tnite, but will stay with my boycott of watching nfl games after the rice debacle :-). just went tnite since a friend invited me weeks ago and didn't want to be rude. go giants in spirit :) (will just follow on smartphone and highlights - smile!).
I was one of those Eli skeptics, but he has really returned to form with a new interior of the offensive line, the emergence of Donnell, and an offensive coordinator who puts him into high percentage situations. But let's be honest: he hasn't played this well in a couple of years. It was right to have doubts and ask questions about whether age and playing behind some bad lines had permanently tarnished his ability. The Giants had to have their own doubts about him. As a Giants fan, I'm glad he still has plenty left in the tank. My greatest concern was that the team would peak after he had, but right now I think the team looks good enough to compete in the NFC East, and then maybe Eli gets hot down the stretch. It was great to watch, and as always I'll be rooting for him.
get em' all healthy, maybe get Beckham out there, get Beason ready (Herz won't cut it) and prepare to slug this NFCE out! Last night's win was MASSIVE!
I had 4 to 5 win expectations, and its nice to envision having a season on our hands. This makes me retroactively much more pissed about the arizona game which we straight up blew. Should be 3-1 right now.
as always it comes down to turnovers. Winning the battle as decisively as we did last night virtually guarantees victory. Defense has been making a ton of plays the last couple weeks, hope it keeps up. We do have a lot of guys in that secondary with above average ball skills.
Eli was awesome last night. He has strung together 3 very solid games now and played one of his better career games in general last night. Only interception was terrible luck. Was it just me or did he also look bizarrely happy at several points last night, downright cheesing that rivaled any emotion displayed certainly in a regular season game. Looks like a guy who hasnt had a lot of fun playing football in a while and all of that was pent up ready to burst
donnell is a monster. 4 games in, ive seen enough to say we have ourselves a mainstay at that position for years
this was one of the more satisfying wins in washington ever, just ridiculously dominant
It's really interesting to watch a completely new offense. It looks like Eli's not getting killed nearly as much as he used to in the pocket. I'm guessing this will help extend his prime and his career.
looking unusually giddy last night. I said the same thing as I was watching.
And these last 2 games should prove that changing the offense was essential for this team's immediate future. No knock on KG but this is such a fun offense to watch and Eli looks like a different QB in it.
As I said last night in a game thread.... I was 100% wrong about this team. I do not understand how a team can simply look this different in such a short time but I am now a believer.

The addition of Hatcher..he command a double and clogs the middle..He suffered a hamstring injury and might be slowed. That will be a test for Walton..
McCoy was dancing all game..he didn't hit the whole hard at anytime and was stacked up a lot..I think he missed a yards dancing in the backfield. That being said, they have been pretty good against the run with Hatcher..
The LB'er is non-factor and they have Fletcher's replacement in Keenan Robinson..They have no one to play in space against TE's and slants..
Secondary is the biggest weakness.. They have 2nd year player Amerson who has been beat a few times and have to star they're 4th rod draft pick Breeland on the other side with Hall's absence..Merriweather is a head hunter and Clark is very slowed..
The NYG might not have a big running game against them, but i think the short passes and hurry up is going to to kill them..
Oh, and their special teams suck..Big Time..
The line is also weak..They cannot run block well or Pass protect will..Houston line ate them up..Philly has no one to pressure them..
Speaking of lines, Philly lost most of them during the game and before..They had about 4 new guys playing and they still did not give up a sack..
One thing about the Skins fron 7
GMANinDC : 9/24/2014 4:56 pm : link : reply
They had 10 sacks against Jax and none against Philly or Houston..Philly played with a completely new OL because of injuries and ejections and the Skins still didn't get a sack off of Foles..
If the Giants continue with the short, quick passing and no-huddle, it would neutralize Kerrigan and Orakpo..
I think the DL is going to to give their OL fits..The running game with Morris has not been as dynamic as last year because they lost Montgomery and the right side has been porous. Trent Williams is the best guy on that line..
This is going to be a low scoring game for the Skins..I can't see them putting up more than 20 points..
The efficiency of the offense is really seen in the easier 3rd down chances it creates. I commented on that in a preseason thread after watching the Packers' offense. I've always felt red zone efficiency is largely based on play design and we're seeing it now. They're isolating their biggest mismatch and going to it repeatedly in numerous ways.
Eli, Larry Donnell, and Prince Amukamara all played outstanding games. DRC's addition has made Prince's life much easier. The o-line was also fabulous.
The only negative was Herzlich. On 2 separate plays, he was completely clueless. It was ugly to watch.
The non-TD on the Randle play was quite possibly the worst call I've ever seen. If that's not a TD, then WTF are we doing?
I have never understood that. All a RB has to do is have posession & inch it over the line. Why not a WR. Randle was clearly across the line with posession.
adding three new interior linemen, fixing Eli's throwing mechanics, adding a pass catching tight end, adding two running backs, and an experienced wide receiver had nothing to do with it.
So, yes, it was the magic system. You guys must also believe in Santa Claus and the Tooth Fairy.
McAdoo had washington guessing and panting for oxygen
Dominant Eli performance. Neutralized Haseltt's blitzing. Owned that D.
YAC from receivers.
Larry pro bowl Donnell
O-Line, kept eli clean and good run blocking generally
Preston Parker
Jennings
Hillis - dude was a mack truck last night
weatherford/ST coverage units
pass rush
the prince!!
rest of the secondary - 4 picks and almost a 5th
Opportunities for improvement
couple of easy drops + randle needs to ensure full concentration until the whistle - second time he's turned the ball over at the goal line in last two years
ST return unit
constantly fooled by play action pass/wide open running backs - not sure which LB/safety was at fault or if it was fewell's design, but they had that play 4-5 times for big gains
was extra giddy last night. THis team has been beat up on and off the field since late 2012. Last week felt good but last night felt like a rebirth. They just look tremendous. You don't put up nearly 80 pts in two weeks by accident.
That game felt a lot like @ philly 2011. Cruz breaks out much like Donnell broke out last night. Big crunching road win that has to put the NFL on notice just a little bit.
Donnell...how long is that dude's fuckin contract. Holy fuck he's good.
You would think by now we(fans in general)would show a little patience before making concrete statements.
You would think. Users on this board have been watching football for a long time, yet when it comes time to panic, conventional wisdom and common sense goes out the door first thing. Kind of like how Eli is declining or finished or awful because he's had to play with a crap offensive line for 2 years.
You would think by now we(fans in general)would show a little patience before making concrete statements.
Isn't a concrete statement that the Giants don't have the worst TEs in football? Shouldn't we be patient and wait to see where we rank at the end of the season?

You enjoy your roll, don't you? But seriously, is this is all you bring to the board?
last night's game had everything you could ask for:
our no name tight ends with 4 touchdowns OMG
an eli manning scramble TD
a nassib and robinson sighting
our secondary picking everything off in site
imposing our will on both lines
getting the redskins to tap out on their home field - man they looked bummed!!
All important things as well, but you are kidding yourself if you don't think the change in Offense isn't a big component of what we are seeing these past few weeks.
I'd love to know the last time Eli went over 70% comp percentage in back to back weeks, and then add in 6 passing TD's to 1 (BS) INT in those 2 weeks. And then add in 2 convincing wins against good defenses.
This entire offense looks different and (I believe) much better and more sustainable. If you don't see that, well, I am not sure what you are watching.
It is nice to be back on the other side of the humiliating drubbings;
and laughs head over to the ExtremeSkins game thread from last night. What a shit show of epic proportion featuring the biggest collection of ham n egg mouthbreathers since Paulie and his special forces team invaded Poland in the 70's.

umm, it's week 4 - folks probably need to relax. it's a long season with many ups and downs; so we'll see. but obviously if we can continue to run-block well and give eli time (and folks catch the ball), we should be fine offensively. and the d is obviously creating turnovers; but we'll see how it goes with better o's and qbs - since they won't face hou and was every week. but yes, lots to be excited about so far.
We get to root for New Orleans and San Fran, both of whom have a good shot. SF is desperate, and I really don't think the Eagles are that good, especially on defense. Dallas has their usual issues, and NO needs a win desperately too.
All the while, that awesome score from our game will be popping up on the ticker every once in a while. HA!
I was very happy the Giants kicked ass last night. This may be because of the tough game the Skins played against the Eagles four days earlier. That game was played as though it was a playoff game. Very physical game. Based on what I saw, the Skins didn't look like they came to play. They looked flat footed and slow. I think they were just beat up and tired. Injuries always hurt more when you lose. I'm not making excuses for the Skins. I'm just merely making an observation. I realize the Giants played 4 days earlier as well, but it wasn't the same type of game. I am curious to see if anyone else viewed the game this way.
Spent the offseason saying we had to draft that ND TE in the first
Spent the weeks starting with preseason posting endlessly that Eli couldn't adapt to the new offense. Well my only excuse is that I'm 84 and senile. My Dad took me to all Giant home games from 1938 to 1941..

This is pretty much the #1 reason I thought we had a good chance to win. Washington was coming off a brutal, emotional, divisional game. By comparison, our game against Houston was fairly workmanlike. I thought our team would have a lot more in the tank for last night, especially late in the game if it was still competitive.
Exactly. Rodgers is terrific, but that offense is made to make QBs look really good. It's such a good scheme.

I hate to be Debbie Downer and say something negative, but Herzlich should never see the field again ad a linebacker!!
I would agree with that. He deserves to be benched just like Stevie was benched for poor play.
You can't blow assignments for huge plays like that.
J. Williams sucks too. Another "great athlete" who can't make plays. He can't tackle. ANother special teamer.
Since Eli made all the passes, can someone explain the math to me?
Kerrigan sacked him for a five yard loss at the end of the first half, a couple plays before the sideline strike to Cruz that set up the field goal.
Probably the sack that Pugh gave up.
And these last 2 games should prove that changing the offense was essential for this team's immediate future. No knock on KG but this is such a fun offense to watch and Eli looks like a different QB in it.
