Randle back shoulder throw

NewBlue : 9/26/2014 10:49 pm
Perhaps the moment I felt the transformation most was when Manning and Randle did NOT have a miscommunication on that back shoulder throw.
How many times over the last 2 years have we seen Eli and Randle not on the same page, resulting in Incomplete passes or picks & pick 6's. This was reminiscent of Eli to Nicks when Hakeem was a player. Maybe the light comes on for Reuben, one can only hope

the fact that Eli didn't throw to Randle in game 1 was on purpose and sent a message to Randle. That message was to get your head in the game or you don't get the ball. That's just my gut feeling based on nothing.
apparently they simplified the offfense for Randle

Is probably given one play. Instead of 3 or 4
Most of the time, I think it's a pre-designed play ..

It's very effective IF you don't over-use it, else the DB will be looking for it.

It's just like looking off the safeties and throwing the opposite way (Eli used that against the Skins). Remember Super Bowl XXXVII, the Raiders' Rich Gannon did that all season, but his ex-coach remembered ….

And made him pay with some critical interceptions as Tampa Bay won.

Same as the pump-fake, very effective too, if you don't over-use it.

It was not one play, he has the Go routes where he caught 2 deep balls that Eli dropped in there....but knowing when the back should was coming.....that recognition was not present until yesterday
Randle is slow...

They made that play look easy. After I saw that I thought, wow the offense is really starting to improve and gaining confidence.

Let Randle master the art of actually making the catch consistently then see how he can improve YAC. If he's moving the chains and an occasional deep threat, I'm a happy camper.
It is all about Eli getting time to throw from the OL
PatersonPlank : 9/27/2014 9:26 am : link
Eli had time to wait for Randle to get out there, and Randle was actually looking back at Eli when he threw the back shoulder. Its easier to recognize the back shoulder when you see it coming. With no time Eli would have thrown it before Randle was ready and likely he would have kept running

This isn't right type of offense for Randle. I hate when they run that toss out to Randle in the flat....he's got about a zero chance of making someone miss.

This offense is a better for a Cruz/ODB type receiver. If you notice all of the Packers Wrs they are very similar to Cruz and ODB.....Nelson, Cobb, Boykin and Adams.
Nelson is 6'3"

Sure he is genius....it's call speed and quickness!

I don't give a rat's ass if he's 8 foot 2....the proto type wr for this type of offense is about speed and quickness…if they have size too that’s a bonus.

I observe the same thing. Well, maybe not slow as much as lacking any quickness. He doesn't seem to have any burst to make defenders miss after the catch.

Randle's better suited to certain types of plays; slants, go routes, etc. Those passes in the flat for him are not going to work, and haven't, given his lack of short area quickness. He does serve a purpose in this offense though and was a decent target on Thurs night. ODB will bring a different dimension to the offense. He will be better at those passes that Randle is getting in the flat or crossing patterns.
How does someone who has returned punts in the NFL

have no elusiveness? A great way to get killed if you can't elude tacklers as a returner
So Eli singles out RR for praise during

His post game presser, and BBI trashes him?

And how does anyone know OBJ can do jack besides play with the jugs?

Randle always makes 1-2 plays a game that are just crippling. I dont think anyone wants to root against RR, but he needs to put a few games together where he doesnt drop a ball, screw up a route, or dances around and gets nowhere.
dep IMO you're too harsh on Randle.
BlueLou : 9/29/2014 7:37 am : link
Even TC says repeatedly he has consistency issues, but he's improving especially the last game. The coughed up TD really wasn't his fault, whatever the ruling. Maybe just a perfect play by Merriweather. Eli said he should've led RR a bit more so RR could see the hit coming to protect himself (and the ball.)

Meanwhile, RR has made 2-3 outstanding contested grabs the last 2 games while being interfered with to boot. TC wouldn't be harping on him if he didn't see a high potential upside with RR.
