I am hard pressed to name a better game than this for Eli. Whether you look at statistics, the way he led, his avoidance of mistakes I just cannot remember a better game for him. I was not even including of his running touchdown.
I'm hoping that this season is similar statistically, for him, to the 2011 season. If so, that would probably mean good things for the team overall, as well.
The 1st two mentioned above in a toss-up, the two NFC championships Eli won, once in Green Bay in ridiculously cold and windy weather and vs the Niners in SF when he withstood the worst beating I've ever seen laid on a QB and still threw that 3rd and 15 dart to Mario for a TD in the 4th quarter. He "survived" at least a half dozen drops in that GB game, and folks remember Plax making a chump out of GB's All Pro CB (Harris?), but Eli was on fucking fire in Favre's house; that was a beauty.
Forget stats man, they really don't define Eli at his best. Though it may be very, very fun to watch Eli compile them in this McAdoo O.
Game 2012 ..over 500 yards and 3 TD's don't worry about the 3 INT's actually if you count 1 of the INT's he had 4 TD's. Giants win 41-34 that's all that matters. Hakeem Nicks' last big time game as a Giant
I think years from now when I think of Eli, the 2011 NFC Championship will be the absolute first game that comes to mind, every time. What a legendary performance, on so many levels.
against far tougher competition. I would never consider this Skins game to be on the level of his 2 NFC Championship games, his '11 Super Bowl, his '11 game against Dallas, and other games where he showed his clutch gene against tough opponents. Eli has Heavyweight titles under his belt, beating a mediocre team like the Skins in Week 4 simple can't be his greatest game.
But in terms of treating a punching bag like a punching bag, this Skins game may have been his greatest. He took care of business and looked as in control as I've ever seen him. 5 TDs, 1 fluke INT, 18-20 passing in the 1st half with 2 drops. Probably his best performance against a mediocre team ever.
but what was very impressive about that game is who he was throwing to. I know if before the season, if BBI knew Eli was going into the game with Cruz, Parker, RR as his three WR's and Fell and Donnell as his TE's, you'd think it would be a rough game. He took that group, put up those stats and now has people talking about Donnell in the same sentence as the top TE's in the league.
favorite game of his is still the 2007 NFC Championship Game.
Either Green Bay Playoff game would be my choices with a nod to the 2011 game. 49's defense in the 2011 playoff game had the Giants stopped cold most of the afternoon. Same with the super bowl games vs New England. Defense by the Giants won those games.

Yep, with the pounding that Eli took, being able to score like that against that defense on the road, I don't think Eli could do any better than that in my book.
What Eli reminded me of on Thursday was Phil Simms in XXI. It was as if we has incapable of throwing an incomplete pass.
Looked as efficient as he has ever looked, but it is 1 game and it was not a significant game in comparison to what he has already accomplished, so the comparison is not fair really. Someone mentioned the 49re game, he was not nearly as efficient, BUT, he is playing a very good defense in the NFC championship game and on the road, so how can you compare them?

s true, it was, but for me that Day In Green Bay defines him, how I think about him, how I'll remember him.

It was extremely cold in Green Bay, but not windy.
No way was it 2011 NFCC game. He took a beating, but he also chucked and ducked about 3 INTs that were dropped. Yes, we won the game, but it was really our defense and special teams that got it for us.
His best game imo was the 2011 divisional game against GB. We were underdogs on the road against an explosive offense that shredded us in the regular season. Eli had to control the tempo and prevent turnovers. He did both
The game he just played against WSH was just more pretty. But those 2 NFCC performances were gutty as hell and his 2 best given the circumstances, conditions, etc. He was throwing darts in GB and he outdueled a legend on his turf. I'd be hard pressed to name any other time where I was more proud of Eli specifically.
At some point in the next two, three years, maybe as soon as late January, Eli will have to silence that 12th man far away from home, for another shot at a ring.
The giants offense did little to nothing in the second half vs green bay, the defense played a great second half. As for the 2011 NFCC game, i don't care how many ints the 49ers 'dropped'. Maybe i will start counting 'shoulda been tds". Last i checked you gotta catch them for it to count. You sound like Ron Jaworksi, he said the next morning on mike and mike about the 2011 nfcc game when asked about Manning's performance...I don't look at interceptions, but could have been interceptions. That is how he explained a night where a qb was beaten into the ground and excelled against easily the best defense in the league at their house.
Surprised not to see Super Bowl XLVI mentioned more in this discussion
and the Eagles game were both games where he got the living hell knocked out of him, and he kept coming. Those are the kinds of games that stand out to me. Eli is one tough fucking dude.
would be how I should have phrased it. The games everyone else mentions are close games. I just cannot remember Eli outplaying his opponents this decisively.
I remember telling a co worker the next morning how excited I was after that game. I was going to "look back on this game as where it all started". He looked at me like I was crazy : )
I have followed the Giants since 1957, and while Eli has had more meaningful games, I would say this was his most dominant game in terms of performance. I felt he was in complete command. This game was similar in many ways to the games YA Tittle played in the 1960's. The Giants have never gotten the respect from the press that other teams have gotten. I felt at eases the whole game, no anxiety about the outcome.
I'm hoping that this season is similar statistically, for him, to the 2011 season. If so, that would probably mean good things for the team overall, as well.

I was thinking about this one too!
Sir. U r correct . Eli was hit over 20 times that game . Warrior performance.

I'm looking forward to it, as I'm sure Eli is.
Thats what I meant to type.
No remembers the rope he threw to manning ham? Only a few make that throw also later in the game he had a great throw to Bradshaw.
But yeah it was just defense and luck. Wow

and gets the job done.

Actually, no. I'm giving Eli the utmost respect by posting a pic of The Scarecrow.
Of course, you haven't given it much thought, have you?
Then, after the game, a packed bus full of Niners fans was in awe of Eli that night.
But I vote dallas '11 JPP block.
To me one of the best QB performances I have ever seen
On the road!
