Tidbit about Soldier Field. Their are four levels on the west side. The idiot who designed it left out restrooms and a vendor area for food or drinks. So if you go down at half-time from the 4th level to the 3rd level good luck making it back to the 4th level before the 3rd quarter ends due to the crowds on the stairwells.
a TD because he touched the pilon. However, the ball was at least a yard short or reaching the goal line when he touched the pilon. TD? I thought the ball had to break the plane.
I have to knock on doors after the Packers-Bears gathering signatures for a local petition drive. Will have a better reception if Packers continue to carve up the Bears. Packer fans are not very friendly after losses. TVs have bullet holes, spouses are abused, and they go into a funk.
should be reason to fire everyone officiating this game. This may go down as the worst officiated game ever in the NFL. This is worse than Steelers-Seahawks in the SB.
What? You mean to tell me that if I make a catch coming back to the ball out of the end zone, my toes are in the end zone and I catch the ball at the 2 that it's a TD?
This is not a difficult concept so I'm not sure what the issue is
The goal line stretches across a football field from pylon to pylon. It is literally painted on the field. The goal line does not stop at the pylons, however. That line continues to infinity past the pylon, use your imagination to visualize this.
Your body can cross the goal line inside the pylon while in the field of play and the ball can be outside the pylon the same time. If it crosses before the play is blown dead, it's a touchdown.
Extend the plane outward?

Theoretically speaking the goal line extends from the pylon all the way to the 1st row of the stands, so if the ball swung around the outside it would be considered a TD.
However I agree with you, because when Stafford went out of bounds the ball was nowhere near the goal line.
Hope this link to the replay works. Stafford clearly hops out over the inside of the pylon before coming down out of bounds. It's pretty clear. Link - ( New Window )
Thank goodness Pugh did a good job on him last week :)
Make that Bears
Way to go Rex
Here come the "we want Vick" chants

Haha this
Not upwards - outwards. He crossed before coming down out of bounds from the replay.

The ball clearly crossed the sideline, but never the goal line plane.
The Jets offense is bad enough to make that impossible. What a brutal drop by Ivory.

Their QB is the problem.
