I think the NFL's more fun when the Raiders are relevant. You just know Winston is gonna go there and bust.
I know what you are saying but Carr is very good. The best thing that franchise can do is trade down and acquire picks. Also, I would touch Winston in the first.
to just abandon Carr. He's shown rookie struggles but he's looked better than a lot of rookie QBs we have seen in the NFL.
As stated above, if the Raiders stink, their best bet is to trade down and get an RG3 haul in return and build their defense back up much like the Rams did and also the OL.
1) Getting paid well to play for an Oakland team that sucks, where the fact that his body has worn down won't be noticed much; or
2) Getting paid less well to be in a fishbowl, where the low likelihood that he will make it through a full season healthy and effective would be the topic du jour almost every jour?
I loved the guy at his peak. I still like him as a human being. As a DL the team would need to rely on throughout the year, this year, not so much. And it wouldn't be fun for him, at all. Ayers is clearly a better choice than THIS Tuck. And Oakland is a vastly better choice for him.
Diss Tuck. We don't win the last two Super Bowls without him and the last one he gave more than he had on the force of his will. He got paid. Good for him. Tuck wasn't in the Giants' plans going forward and rightly so, so what do you expect the guy to do?

When he is done, would love to have him here as an assistant coach

Yeah, having him come back as an assistant coach would be terrific. We would be competing with TV Football announcing, of course, and the latter pays so much better.

Yeah I bet football players who destroy their bodies and often drastically shorten their lifespan in exchange for millions of dollars often wish they would have taken less money to play for a better team. Those good feelings would easily be worth more than the millions Tuck made by going to Oakland. Because really at the end of the day it's not about the money for these players it's all about winning and having fun and not about providing for one's self or family.
If he was determined to play professional football he would be wise to always take the money and run. More likely is that years from now Tuck would regret ever playing pro ball or not retiring as soon as he had enough money to do so.
is for anyone who has small children, Justin Tuck authored a children's book called "Home Field Advantage". You should look it up and buy it.
I bought it for my daughter when she was in kindergarten and it turned into one of those books she had to hear every night before bed for a while.
Her teacher had a series of mystery readers come in to read to the class (parents of the students mostly) and I offered to do it and of course read this book (to a class full of Patriots fan kindergarten students). The kids loved it.
I tweeted a picture of me reading it to her class (one of maybe two tweets I've made in my life) and Justin Tuck replied to it and then retweeted it out. Several of his followers replied to me.
that he will come back here for a single appearance and retire as a Giant. He is loved, and that includes by Giants management. They will make it work.
The initial offer the Giants made to him before free-agency was so low that he knew the Giants wanted him to at least test free-agency. John Mara, he says, called him and told him to call the Giants before he signed a contract with another team.
So Tuck got an two year, $11 million offer from Oakland and called the Giants. Why would a two time champ want to sign with Oakland?
Quote:
Tuck told the New York Daily News that he brought the Raiders offer to him back to the Giants and admitted he would have been willing to sign for $3 million less and was given an offer he deemed insulting enough to leave the table.
Did the Giants make the right move? Tuck or Kiwanuka at the top of the left defensive end position? Kiwi according to BBI is making $1.5 this year and is scheduled to make over $5 million in his final year, which is never going to happen.
I often have a different take on player moves than most of BBI, or at least the posters on BBI, because I root for the players and don't care about too much about rooting for the laundry. Tuck was the defensive leader and one of the last of the two ring guys. Strahan was productive at 35.
But if Tuck wanted to return to the Giants so badly, why did he wait for the second half of the season before he began to play well? In mid-2011 Tuck talked about his thoughts of retirement. That should really have had the Giants thinking about how hard he would play if he didn't think that the team had a chance to go to the playoffs.
You could make a better case for having kept Bradshaw. He was coming off a 1000 yard season with 4.6 per carry. They were going to draft Wilson and had Andre Brown, so they thought Bradshaw could be traded for 2.6 million in cap space. How did that work out?
Bradshaw, 28, is now the toast of Indianapolis (probably after Luck) where, splitting snaps with Richardson, he has gained 182 yards at 5.4/carry and caught 14 passes with 4 TD catches. And he has shown Colts fans how he only plays at one speed, as hard as he can, and can drag tacklers down the field with him. It puts a lot of pressure on Richardson to show the same effort. Bradshaw's feet are finally healthy. I wish he were still a Giant. They hurt his feelings. - ( New Window )
He was a great Giant but life goes on. And does anyone think that he would be playing better than Ayers? I don't. We'd probably all be complaining about his mopey attitude and poor production. Sometimes you just have to cut the cord.
the Giants and was willing to take a cut from 11 million to 8 million and maybe less to stay with the Giants, but the counter offer the Giants made was substantially lower than even that. So you wonder why Mara told Tuck to call before signing with another team. I think that the real comparison is between Tuck and Kiwanuka.
Anyway, I'm not saying that Tuck should have been re-signed. For sure the Giants handled the situation badly. Why should Mara tell Tuck to call him before signing with another team when the Giants weren't going to have him back at any price?
Ayers? Hope that in his sixth year he suddenly lives up to his selection as 18th overall pick in the 2009 draft, but I can't ever remember this happening. In five full seasons with the Broncos, missing only eight games, he had total 12 sacks and three forced fumbles.
Bing!

That would rock

Hahahahaha
After the Jamarcus Russell experience I don't think they sign up for a guy with even more red flags than Russell had.

Small gesture, but made me feel good.
He'll get arrested/suspended no matter where he goes. Ryan Leaf to go.
You go to get paid.
He will sign a one day contract with NYG for retirement.

At his age, why not. So few players get to do that, capitalize when you can
