Geno Smith To Jeering Jets Fan: "F- You"

Patrick : 9/28/2014 11:57 pm
Haven't seen this posted yet.

Not only did Geno Smith lose today, but the Jets crowd booed the quarterback and chanted "We want Vick" as the Lions won. Smith, who completed 17 of 33 passes with a touchdown and two turnovers, wasn't happy after the game, and chose to respond to a Jets fan with a "fuck you." A nearby camera from WLNY caught Smith's comments on video.

Geno Smith always rubbed me the wrong way. Lots of arm talent. Not sure about all the other stuff that goes into being a good QB, especially in NY.

See I disagree with this assessment and think it is a tired argument to make for a young black quarterback.

From day 1, you can tell that his accuracy has always been an issue. A lot of guys can throw the ball aorund, but can they throw it accurately? I don't see that in Geno. He looks to be a good thrower down the field, but his accuracy outside the hash marks is downright brutal.

He cannot hit the guy in stride on the crossing route.
He cannot dump the ball off with air under the ball
He cannot throw the back shoulder

He has arm strength, but no arm talent when it comes to accuracy outside the hash marks.

I think he's a smart guy whose head exceeds his talent. I see him make a lot of throws 20-30yds downfield on posts and double moves that are eye popping. But he just lacks the accuracy everywhere else.

This. They are looking at starting off 1-6. Couldn't happen to a better franchise and fan base.
Geno's days are numbered anyway..
EricJ (formerly Tyleraimee) : 9/29/2014 7:11 am : link
as someone else described earlier here, the guy simply is NOT a good QB. If he could not use his legs on occasion to pickup a few yards, he would NEVER start for any team in the league.

Vick actually knows the game better than Geno.

and keep everything as it is. It's almost a rite of spring to hear from the sports media types (that have the picture of Namath waving his finger hanging in their offices) about how much better the Jets will be because of Rex and his "new look" offense or defense and their new impact player. How much players want to play for him and how they compare to the Giants.. Sells newspapers I guess.
I feel sorry for the Jets..
Tark10 : 9/29/2014 8:22 am : link
It amazes me that New York City doesn't have two successful football franchises. The Giants have had some bad quarterbacks over the last 40 years, but they've also managed to land two franchise quarterbacks with Simms and Manning. By contrast, the Jets haven't had a top-flight quarterback since Namath was sent packing after the 1976 season. Todd, O'Brien, Sanchez.. That's it.. When I was a kid in the '60's, the older guys were Giant-Yankee fans, and the younger ones were Jet-Met fans. I became a Giant fan because of Tarkenton and a Met fan because all my friends were Met fans. Still am to this day. I hope the Jets grab a good one next year.
Why does anyone think a 34 year old, physically beaten up Vick
Victor in CT : 9/29/2014 8:23 am : link
can win anything when he couldn't do it in his prime? It's one thing to use him like a George Blanda to come in and try to turn around a game, but quite another to think that he will lead a team to the playoffs and beyond. He always had a penchant for gagging up a turnover in a big spot anyway. I don't think Smith is that good, but they also don't help him by forcing him to pass so much. They have a good OL and some good backs, run the damn ball.

I listened to the Jets radio broadcast
Bobby Humphrey's Earpad : 9/29/2014 8:33 am : link
while working in the yard yesterday afternoon. The whole organization is hilarious.

The Jets commericals indicate their fanbase as Vinny and Johnny Goobatz.

Buttle and Lyons are homers to the end, you would think this team is coming off of consecutive playoff runs. Buttle compared sitting Geno Smith to sitting Colin Kaepernick, except the fact that the latter led his team to a Super Bowl appearance and was one play away from another.

They cover up our SB trophies, which should tell you everything you need to know about the mentality of that franchise. I'd wish the plague on them if I wasn't afraid it'd spread.

If it were me, I'd leave them the Lombardis out on display and remind the players that we had some catching up to do.

..to be competitive is a real QB. Not to blame it all on Geno but he does not look like a future franchise QB to me.

Imagine if the Jets had Eli? With their O line and D they would be competitive no doubt about it.

That is what a franchise QB gives you, that is why Giant fans are so lucky.

39th overall pick just 20 games into his career
Osi Osi Osi OyOyOy : 9/29/2014 10:22 am : link
I think it's too early to boo him if you're a Jets fan. You need to give this guy that you invested a Top 40 pick on more than 20 games to prove himself. He has been thoroughly mediocre but he does look a little better this year. And it's not like he's surrounded by a great offensive cast that would thrive without him.

This is why the Jets are the Jets. When they signed Michael Vick, they knew this was a possibility. Just like they knew it was a possibility that fans would turn on Sanchez when they signed Tebow. They are a circus of a franchise. They never seem to have a real plan on offense.
The Jets
McNally's_Nuts : 9/29/2014 10:26 am : link
haven't exactly done Smith a favor in surrounding him with talent either. Unless you consider Eric Decker who was always viewed as a complementary piece and CJ2YPC.

I know Decker, Kerley and Johnson on the team, I don't know who else is on that squad.
All this clamoring for Vick is weird from our green cousins
dpinzow : 9/29/2014 10:41 am : link
Did they not see Vick play the last couple of years in Philly? They think they're getting 2005 or 2010 Vick when in reality he's going to play more like the Vick of 2012-2013 who broke the Eagles' back time after time with turnovers

If we take out of the equation what fans we're talking about, Eli's half of 2004 was worse than the first year and 4 games Geno Smith has had

What are you talking about? I do not get why people hate the Jets so much. And their "fanbase" is almost the exact same as the Giants...New Yorkers. Prob more LI'ers and maybe skewed younger but still largely New Yorkers.

For all the talk of the "little Brother inferiority complex" posts like Matt's are what look insecure.
