that last PP seemed strange for the Rangers
mfsd : 9/29/2014 8:56 pm : link
got home and flipped on the game in time to see us pepper them with shot after shot after shot until we buried one

Sure, we scored and all, but Coach Dale wouldn't approve...

African American players
oipolloi : 9/29/2014 11:29 pm : link
Rumun Ndur played in the late 90s
Jason Doig had a cup of coffee about the same time

Brashears

Nathan Lafayette also played a few games in the 1990s, and Tony McKegney in the 1980s.

There was also an African American who played for the Rangers in the 1940s. Forget his name. But the Times did an article on him about 15 years ago.
So many new kids

How tough was McIlrath? Any gif of his hit? Is Haggerty a finisher?
a lot to like with the young guys
Greg from LI : 9/30/2014 12:29 am : link
Duclair absolutely looks like the goods, Fast and Haggerty had great games, even McIlrath had a nice game

Gotta admit, I liked what I saw from Glass
Anakim : 9/30/2014 2:42 am : link
Hustle, lots of hits, including one that goonfuck Zac Rinaldo, a fight with a much bigger guy.

Good for him
Not bad showing for one of the least talented systems
Headhunter : 9/30/2014 7:55 am : link
in Hockey. Buchnevich all of 19 though scoreless in his last 3 is a boy playing against men and more than holding his own. The system is light I Dmen

A few young forwards just soared onto the Rangers' radar http://nyp.st/1rGKTdL
Brooks - ( New Window )
These young kids are really impressing

Going to be hard to keep them away. I like what I'm seeing, we were a fast team last year that looks even quicker now.
RE: Did I read something about them possibly changing..

...the college signing process (i.e. Haggerty, Hayes) and making it some sort of waiver system or am I just making that up?

Oh geez, i hope not. Can't find that info anywhere and hope it's not true. This is a gold mine for slats.

arcarsenal : 9/30/2014 9:46 am : link
Yeah, I could have sworn I read that they may change that whole system but I could totally be wrong.

Also, didn't really see him mentioned much but Mueller has been pretty impressive as well. Feels like this is the most stocked we've been with young talent in forever.
WOW

I have not seen a kid with the skills of Duclair coming up on the rangers in a long time. His skill is as noticable as when Leetch got here. Other then Duclair who was the best player on the ice for both teams already, Haggerty, Hayes, and MacIlrath all looked really good. I like hayes a lot at center, with him and Miller we may actually be in good shape at center in the future. How does Hayes, Miller, stepan, and Brassard sound as our future! not too shaby, you add MacIlrath on defense and Haggerty and Duclair alone along with Pavel Buchnevich up front, then you add the current core players of Kreider, Haglin, Stepan and Zuccs up front and McDonaugh and Moore on the backline, plus the kid SKjei in college and we look to be in great shape moving forward, great shape.
watched last nights game...
Torrag : 9/30/2014 1:06 pm : link
...the defensive zone coverage was piss poor at times. Not unexpected this early in the process. Duclair is making every GM in the league look dumb so far...but it's very early on so I'll be patient and not go gaga...yet. Haggerty showed better speed than I anticipated. He made a solid defenseman(McDonald I believe)look real bad on his first goal and followed that up with another power move to the net with a high snipe goal. Dan Boyle moved the puck very well and was a factor on the power play goal from Mueller which is why he is on this roster. Hank looks a little further along than usual at this stage, byproduct of playing so deep into the summer perhaps? If Cam lives up to last years promise it would be smart to get him a few extra days off along the way with an eye to keeping the King fresh for the tournament.

The flyers didn't suit up Simmons and Giroux is nursing a leg but overall so far so good for the Rangers this preseason.
Does Duclair's shot and speed remind anyone else of Pavel Bure's?
yatqb : 9/30/2014 1:49 pm : link
To me that's the best comp I can come up with. This kid and the young Russian, Buchnevich, should bring a lot more speed and offense to the team over the next few years.
tonight not

I was anticipating him next season or 2016. Shocked he is playing so well among men. Still think he could gain more weight and fill out but maybe he's (don't want to jinx it) a legit superstar and maybe the next Bure. He hasn't really been tested on the boards but he's absolutley flying in open ice.
