In the preseason he proclaimed the Giants were a mess. I think a lot of us thought the same even though they appeared to have a lot of able bodies on the team. Said they would finish in the basement one of the worst teams in the league. Said Eli was finished. Time to take him out behind the woodshed and this was the end for him and that the Giants needed to draft another QB.
Well, I think it's safe to say he was way off base. And I also think it's safe to say no one is going to concede this division anymore to the unstoppable Eagles.
Today on his radio show one of his callers was crying about the loss and the offensive line woes and other concerns for their unstoppable Eagles. Missanelli then responds to the caller that their next two home games were against inferior opponents and when they take care of business and are sitting at five and one they won't even remember this loss.
He actually believes the Eagles are so good that the Giants are inferior. Not a tick below. Inferior. That insinuates they don't belong on the same field with the Eagle juggernaut. Is there anyway this sentiment could become bulletin board fodder in the Giant locker room the week of their meeting?
This guys take just blew my mind. This Eagles team is good but they aren't that good. I know it's just stupid being stupid and I shouldn't give it a second thought but this is a classic example of why I dislike this team so much.

This.
Live alone in a paradise that makes me think of two...
And that eagles game still scares me to death in two weeks. Take no opponent lightly. And our LBs are nothing like San Frans. If we held the offense to no rushing yards and no points- then and only then can we talk.
He may very well be right.
None that I'm aware of.
So, for him at this point to classify them as inferior after the charmed life the Eagles have been living the start of this season and the legitimate beat downs the Giants and Cowboys have laid down the past two weeks he isn't paying attention.
I realize this will be a tough game but the Giants are not an inferior team. And they have a lot better defense front to back then last year. Lots of depth goes a long way. And they have that at every defensive position if you haven't noticed.
They will be competitive in this game. The Giants won't take the Eagles lightly that's for sure. However, the Eagles would be crazy to take the inferior Giants lightly.

Sounds like we're more in agreement than anything, you follow exactly what I'm talking about... Because you yourself said as much.
Dude he's an eagles guy - why wouldn't he say the eagles will bounce back and beat the giants? They very well might, handily.
Then again - they might not.
I think the biggest concern on the offense was the fact they were installing a new offense and along with it are the growing pains. It would appear they are moving past the growing pain stage wouldn't you agree. And the offensive line was so bad last year the worry was how do you improve it. They have not played that bad the past three weeks and as a result Eli is finding his receivers.
I know we need to see more have them be more consistent. You can say that about all teams. But if you are going to sit there and tell me the Giants are inferior to this Eagles team I think anyone who believes that is crazy. They have as much talent on that field as the Eagles. So how that makes them inferior is beyond me.
That should tell you all you need to know about the credibility of many covering sports today. They are more interested in creating controversy than reporting well thought out commentary.

Isn't that kind of the job of sports talk hosts? They are not reporters.
Good idea. Shut down the Corner folks, no point in us talking! ;)
Thats where the focus should be. It means turning the D into stallwarts and the O into a ball control machine, not unlike some of Parcells old teams. I would love to see that happen.
There is no question the Giants have more depth this year then in 2013. You look at he running backs, the secondary, along the defensive line, linebacker, and even the offensive line. That's what helps teams in this league win games. Depth. Some have more then others. The Giants have plenty of depth.
I know that assures nothing. It's what they do on the field. But it is quality depth. This is not an inferior team. You want inferior. The Raiders. The Jaguars who almost beat the Eagles. Those are inferior teams.
I downloaded the Tony Kornkeiser podcast for the first hour of Friday's show. Said the Giants was still a bad team and Eli was still a mediocre quarterback. He was bashing the Redskins' defense for making a mediocre QB look so good.
Might have to download the podcast for Friday's PTI to see what the back and forth was on that.
People will believe what they want to believe, and once that belief is in their heads, they'll fight tooth and nail to hang onto it. In 2007, we win every playoff game. Didn't matter. Predicted to lose every one.
In Kornheiser's mind, Eli had a good game because the Redskins had a bad one. If we beat Atlanta, it will be because of the Falcons' injuries. If we beat Philly and/or Dallas, it will be because those defenses were lousy. Wonder what he'd say if we beat an Indy or Seattle. Probably say it was an off day.
