0-16 is not out of the question. They have a home game against St. Louis later in the season, otherwise it's tough finding Ws. Can't see how they win any games in the division.
i think the raiders problem is that they have been such a shit show for so long that no self respected free agent will want to go their and as a result the guys who they sign are over the hill vets who are looking for one last pay day and once they get their money arrive in oakland and no longer give 100% and focus more on easing into retirement and staying healthy like justin tuck and quiet frankly i would do exactly that if i was an over the hill vet.
The only way to turn things around for the raiders is to get a positive image boost by moving to the LA market or take the long term option of building a building a young team through the draft and slowly build up some respect
I love the guy for past performance but his best days are way behind him. I wouldn't want him taking playing time away from JPP, Kiwi, Moore, Ayers at this point.
the last 14 years or so, it's easy to slam the Raiders. But, I think Mark Davis deserves a chance. He hired a highly regarded GM candidate (at least at the time), who, quite honestly, hasn't done a bad job--I actually liked what Reggie did this offseason in terms of free agents and draft. And that's after he cleared the Raiders from cap hell.
Allen didn't have much to work with, but he had enough talent to do more than what he did. It's actually a patient firing--Mark Davis gave him every chance. Do you think DA would have survived through year two with Al? Not likely.
I'd be curious what the GM can do with another quality candidate. The Raiders need to be smart, though, with the next coach hire. There's talent on that roster. The can't be cheap, but they also can't overreach. And that will be the true test of what kind of owner Mark Davis will be.
The 2 previous seasons before he was hired they were 8-8 each year. I won't profess to know details of what occurred there over that span, but the results are obviously horrendous since he took over.
when you hire a guy over others with stronger resumes. He had no business being a HC. He deserved to be a HC over someone like Perry Fewell? Why exactly?
I don't get mid-season firings at all. Maybe late-season firings, but just one quarter of the season? The ONLY way I buy into that is due to some serious fallout.
Thank the heavens for our ownership. As much as people wanted to run Gilbride out of town in the middle of the season last year, that type of thinking leads to this kind of decision making.
Mckenzie is floundering. A few bad drafts along w a big miss in Dennis Allen is his issue but he's gotten a partial pass due to the horrendous cap situation Al Davis left.
The power vacume after Al died didn't help which is what got Hugh Jackson canned. Wasn't he responsible for the Carson Palmer deal IIRC?
IMO they need to can Mckenzie too. Problem is that the best candidates are usually working still for the better teams or you get a retread.
They are fucked though and honestly will be looking at a top 5 pick if not top 2 as IMO there's almost no chance to win more than 2-3 games w that roster. Not that they should have kept Jennings but McFadden has been a total waste of roster space. Letting your best OL walk? Too many fuck ups to let McKenzie slide.
the raiders had a nice off season....picked up some decent veterans that other team wanted. They were just able to spend more....James Jones...maurice jones drew....tuck....charles woodson...all could contribute to a winning team. Has to do more with the environment thats going on there.
Could have this team playing better than they are. The veterans on that team would help. Instead they are horrible as usual. The vets and team probably could care less.
Imagine what Tuck thinks of Dennis Allen vs a Tom Coughlin.
i think time has proven that carson palmer wasn't the problem. he can obviously still play. i don't care about the situation much, but Hugh got screwed. i don't know if he is a good coach or not, but they were a 500 team (3 winning seasons in 20 years so quite a feat) and palmer can still play.

Its not that Palmer couldn't play but the combination of a huge contract what they gave u to get him. A first and a second as I just looked it up. Not sure anyone else was offering anything close to that. They were already in cap hell and then had to pay Palmer.
Jackson should get another HC shot IMO. Especially if CIncy can take a step forward. I think he's better than Jay Gruden whose best attribute seems to be his last name.
RE: I read earlier that Allen was the 7th Head Coach
That team is really in a situation where the NFL should step in and put a George Young type in place to run the team.
If they didn't know what they were getting into they're idiots.
Tuck probably wants to come back knowing that we might contend again. It won't happen because of cap considerations but he'd be nice to have back
Some nice retirement money?

But they need the no 1 overall pick the worst way
But they need the no 1 overall pick the worst way
Da Raidas need that 1 overall pick to trade down and just amass as many picks as possible because every single spot on their team is a weak point
Mark Davis is a total doofus

Why? Throwing huge money at older players who have had great playoff performances is the definition of the Raiders...
- Brandon Jacobs, to Justin Tuck

Rocky T, it's time for your legendary declaration..:)

That is basically a sham in Oakland...

18 coaches in their history, 7 these past 12 years.
