obviously Larry Donnell has been under the radar thus far this season
but 3 TDs games are hard to keep under the radar and
now it seems like all the NFL knows about him.
do you think larry donnell starts to see double teams ? especially in the red zone?
will he still be able to make plays ?
how will the Giants counter this?
just curious on everyone thoughts?
I would also suspect there are multiple things the Giants can do to offset such as putting him in motion, using bunch formations but basically he will have to learn to fight through it as most good tight ends do.
Step off?
Let'em. They don't think Cruz & Randle can get deep? Big mistake. Pump fakes & double moves would kill them, imo.
I like how Ben M moves guys around within the formation.
Teams have such a hard time chipping anyone off the line and that is not going to stop
Continuing to run the ball will make it really hard on defenses
Atlanta's D is not worrisome
I don't think they will double team him. But as Mike said they'll put someone over him. It will open up the slot more(Cruz).
Yup
It's OBJ not ODB
Or double them both and watch Fells or Robinson become the next Antonio Gates
Checkmate.
Hopefully McAdoo and Eli put in some new wrinkles to take advantage of any additional attention to Donnell.
Bingo, all this is good news for us. And if Becks is actually healthy enough to contribute? Go ahead, Double Larry or Cruz
Yes, that's a nice advantage of having a TE that can catch. However, any disruption of a free release can mess up timing from a QB. Defenders can't just grow taller overnight so unless you want to put two men on him (unlikely), you focus on messing up the route.
Has to open up things for the WRs and even Jennings and the backs.
If that's the case, look for even more spread formations for us to isolate and target the 1on1 matchup
How many times have we thought we've got them by the throat and Witten saves their bacon ? It's only Romo's propensity to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory that has kept them down.
The play he always kills us with is that crossing pattern, then with a deep "go" to the flag. Frustrating, it's like we know what coming and he keeps doing it, especially on 3rd down.
But its more than that. Even when Witten is covered well, Romo will still throw him the ball as his safety-valve to the shoulder-side opposite the defender so he can box him out. They both know to always be ready for this throw and have basically perfected it thru repetition...
If in man, he runs at the lb/s and breaks to the opposite side of the defender...if a zone, he just breaks to the hole in it, and Romo is firing it at him, more often than not, before he even makes his break, because he knows which way Witten will break his pattern....they have played together so long, it's easy.....
Of course, they'd call offensive pass interference.
