Falcons Injuries

Ian Rapoport & #8207;@RapSheet: Bad injury news for #Falcons coming… Hear starting C Joe Hawley likely done for the year with a knee injury. Explains their workouts today

A big blow to their offensive line. Hope for a strong recovery for the kid, just preferably after this week.
sucks
BigBluePrestige : 9/30/2014 1:58 pm : link
but we've had our own o-line injuries/issues.
Maybe
Fred-in-Florida : 9/30/2014 2:11 pm : link
we can trade Cordle to them. Worth at least a 3rd!
Per the Falcons twitter account

S William Moore (shoulder) is being placed on IR designated to return & Lamar Holmes (foot) will be placed on season-ending IR today.
William Moore is a big loss for them...
Gmaniac : 9/30/2014 2:13 pm : link
... the equivalent for us would be losing Antrel Rolle.
Interesting.

Mike Smith said he wasn't going to make any announcements until Wednesday.
Giants have to take advantage
Simms11 : 9/30/2014 2:16 pm : link
Of their misfortune. We need this game to not only keep pace in the Division, but it's also a conference opponent. Lastly, we need to make our home field an advantage again.
jump out to a 10-0 lead early

and this game will be a cake walk. ATL is so soft on the road and they will have one foot out the door by the 2nd quarter if the Giants punch them in the mouth once or twice.

Ryan can play and those WRs are dangerous. Don't let them breathe and Nassib will be playing in the 4th quarter. Give them a little room and the Birds could pose problems.

I'd lay the points. The game takes place in October and the Giants are feeling and looking good. ATL is walking into an ambush.
The Falcons aren't a very good road team

I think the Giants will win the game.
Cue the people who will complain that the Giants never beat

any team that is healthy.

Konz replacing Hawley might not be such a big drop-off.
Big Blue Blogger : 9/30/2014 2:28 pm : link
The big question mark for this week is Blalock. The other three guys who went down in Minnesota were clearly going to miss some time. If Blalock's back responds to treatment, they can still field a halfway decent line (though Konz and Carimi are still living on Badger glory, and have sucked as pros). If Blalock can't go, the Falcons are scraping a whole different level of the barrel.
Payback for that ass kicking they gave us last time we played
BlueHurricane : 9/30/2014 2:50 pm : link
The physically abused us in that game. Hoping we return the favor and drub them.
I was at that game in Atlanta when the Falcons creamed us

Worst part was when this woman sitting in front of me, dressed in a ton of Falcons gear, turned around and sympathetically patted me on the leg. She intended to be nice, but I would have crawled under a rock if I could have...
I can't wait

for our first 3rd and 5 when the falcons bring in Osi and Eli audibles to a run inside his big outside rush.

Fred in Atlanta : 9/30/2014 3:32 pm : link
Osi has one QB hit on 103 snaps this season. So you could pass with him in there.
Hester

worries me .Our special teams need to be lights out
Yes, special teams always worries me too
BeerFridge : 9/30/2014 4:39 pm : link
and it's a good test for our corners.
In no situation should the Giants punt the ball
Jimmy Googs : 9/30/2014 4:48 pm : link
to Hester this weekend.

Weatherford has done a good job this year thus far (except for the one vs Arz but that was more a missed tackle).

If we dont just kick away from Hester
MotownGIANTS : 9/30/2014 4:49 pm : link
someone needs their ass kicked!
I can imagine the post-game presser
Randy in CT : 9/30/2014 4:54 pm : link
vividly if we kick to Hester. This has to be the number one thing they tell the punting team, no?
I barely pay all that much attention to opponent's
Big Blue '56 : 9/30/2014 5:16 pm : link
injuries anymore(save for QB of course), as more often than not, we've seen, at least for one game, the fill-ins do a more than adequate job..

We're going to have to continue to play as we have or we can easily find ourselves on the short end of the score..Ryan is capable of killing you, especially with White and Jones
Injuries to other teams is always welcome news!
redthumper32 : 9/30/2014 5:23 pm : link
It is all about winning!
I like this matchup and think the Giants can run away with it
j_rud : 9/30/2014 5:36 pm : link
Atlanta's D ranks near the bottom of the league in yards and points allowed while the Giants O comes together a little more each week. Their OL is going to be a wreck and the front 4, JPP and Hank especially, is playing really well.
Watched the Rewind of the Falcons' game.
Big Blue '56 : 9/30/2014 5:51 pm : link
I thought Steven Jackson was kinda done..I was wrong, at least off of what I saw. He's a bull with a non-stop motor
The Giants are a team
brian : 9/30/2014 6:44 pm : link
that has to play well to win. Regardless of the opponent, we should always play well if we want to win. Fourth quarter heroics are part of playing well. We have recent experience of giving away games with mistakes, which are part of playing poorly. Reuben Randle seems to have gone from playing poorly to playing well. The same might be said of the offensive line. I hope they keep it up.
Atlanta hasn't won a game outdoors
BlackLight : 9/30/2014 7:21 pm : link
in almost two years.
Regardless of injuries….
Simms11 : 9/30/2014 7:28 pm : link
the Giants can't under-rate or look past this Atlanta Team. In the NFL any team can win on any given Sunday and this team has some real weapons. Hester is now a receiving threat, as well and of course we know what he can do on returns!

Giants have to play well to beat this team even with all of their injuries. Our LBers worry me in coverage, especially against J. Rogers or S. Jackson. WE must get pressure from our front 4.

AS in the previous 2 games, keys to victory are:

Stop the run
Run the ball 4-5 yards a clip
win the turnover battle and
do not allow any big returns on special teams
If we kick to Hester...

I agree that is a boot in an ass.
