the full rotation for either side are not on the 25 man tonight. The Royals have 2 pitchers left - RP Jason Frasor and SP Jeremy Guthrie. The As have used less, but likewise only have 1 SP in Hammel available for this game.

But each team kept one starter just in case the game went really long or there was a desperate in-game situation
I was just making the point that they each only have 1 specific SP available, not the full complement from the regular season. Shark will not be appearing tonight.

I just looked at the MLB gamecast
OAK kept Pomeranz, a spot starter/reliever, and Hammel
KC kept Guthrie and Duffy (2 starters)
level has been terrific though, and at the end of the day thats all you can really ask for. Frustrating to watch no one ever be able to close this one out though.

The Athletics were going to give them too many of those chances.
Finnegan doesn't deserve the L at all
From a tie.
It's been exciting, but it's also been a poorly played game imo. Pitchers continuously pissing down their legs in every big spot

But excitement is part of the equation, even if the play isn't 1998 Yankees caliber
