I've officially had enough of Tom Brady as my starter.

I gave him plenty of chances but I'm done.

I put out some feelers for trades, I have both Kelce and Cameron as tight ends so I'm hoping to package someone like Cameron and Wright for someones backup qb. (russell wilson, kaepernick)

I also signed drew stanton because I think he will put up good numbers this week.

I could also sign either Bridgewater or Bortles, or even Dalton.

anyone has to be better than brady at this point.

advice? think i should just hedge my bets on one of those rookies?
Dalton is available?

Packaging Brady makes sense
sealowe : 10/1/2014 9:27 am : link
Would imagine one TE with Brady could net a decent QB in return. Would also agree with picking up Dalton.

Would you trade Colston for Witten (PPR). My other WRs are Allen, Hilton, R White. Lost N Paul and would have to scour the waivers for TE.

I would make that trade. Witten's a safe TE that gets a good chunk of targets per game.
Palmer's not ruled out yet, although
Rocky Thompson : 10/1/2014 9:30 am : link

He hasn't shown good progress after he said he definitely play this week, they're supposed to make a decision this afternoon.

Bortles against Pitt ain't a bad play. Big Ben will likely go off on Jax and Bortles could throw 50 times.

Dalton might be better long term but I wouldn't cut Brady yet...

Clay Harbor available?
Trade we are discussing:
kmed : 10/1/2014 9:36 am : link
Bernard, Tate, Vernon Davis
For
Graham, Hilton, vereen

The way I see it, I invested a 2nd on brees, I still think he will pick it up and be worthy. I believe Graham will be the beneficiary. I'm also a big Ty Hilton fan and I'd be buying low in him. I obviously weeken my rbs a lot, but improve TE total pts and Flex total points. Plus, there will be other rbs available throughout the season. Thoughts.
that was to Kmed
pjcas18 : 10/1/2014 9:36 am : link
it's basically

Bernard
Olsen
Tate

vs
Vereen
Graham
Hilton

I like team 1 for two of the three, and the drop-off on the third doesn't seem like a ton.

Right now and he's already has his bye Gio has 25 points more than vereen

Right now, neither with a bye: Tate has 4 more points than Hilton

And Graham has 26 points more than Olsen.

In the end I go with Gio and Tate to improve, Vereen is not what I thought he was (through 4 games) and Hilton is buried in a bevy of options.

Pick up Dalton
Big Rick in FL : 10/1/2014 9:38 am : link
And try and trade Brady + TE for an upgrade at RB or WR. Dalton was the 2nd ranked fantasy QB last year and was the 3rd ranked this year through 3 weeks. Only Matt Ryan was ahead of him.
I'm not searching for a TE,
kmed : 10/1/2014 9:39 am : link
I have serciceable starters in Olsen and davis, but the graham owner is shopping him and is love a big upgrade. Remember, it's total pts, not rbs vs rbs and TEs vs tes. Having brees, calvin, maclin, graham as my top tier players is legit.
trying to improve my team
FJ : 10/1/2014 9:39 am : link
DeAndre Hopkins is available. I would need to drop one of my WRs, either Colston or Decker.

0.5 pts per 10 yards, 3 pt bonus at 100, 6 pts for TD, 0.5 pt per reception.

Colston had a game in which he wasn't even targeted, then had 10 targets last week (only caught 5, but one was a TD). Decker has the crappy QB, but he's their top WR (when his hammy isn't sore). Hopkins is putting up great numbers so far), and doesn't normally face the top CB.

Which would you drop?

TY Hilton
Mike Evans

Jimmie Graham
Ladarius Green

Reggie Bush

Darren McFadden (whom I dropped for Bobby Rainey...)

kmed : 10/1/2014 9:44 am : link
Dalton is clearly the play here, IMO. He's better than anyone on your team. He had his bye. He's as good as any qb you are trading for, without giving anyone up.
Being weak at rb(if you are strong elsewhere)
kmed : 10/1/2014 9:46 am : link

arcarsenal : 10/1/2014 9:46 am : link
In my main league where I need WR help, I just got offered Colston/Sproles for Forte. Obviously that is not a fair deal and I'm not going to do it but he also has Lacy and Morris.. would it be worth trying to buy low on Lacy and get Colston along with him? I still don't think that's worth Forte who is way more of a sure thing but I figured I'd put it out there and get some opinions.

This is the same league I am potentially looking to deal Brees.. I offered the last place guy Brees for AJ straight up. He also has Demaryius and Newton is his QB so he's not getting a whole lot there right now.

I have to play two of the three following guys:

Patterson at GB
Royal vs. the Jets
Foster against Dallas

Patterson has been a bust, Royal is getting a lot of balls thrown his way but will he keep it up, Foster got 1 carry in the 2nd half last week and it looks like they are limiting him.

Bobby Humphrey's Earpad : 10/1/2014 9:54 am : link
I already have Dez, Edelman, Hopkins and Hawkins in PPR, but I'm wary that Edelman might now hold up all year. Good time to buy low on Thomas? The team selling has No RBs, and while I'm not loaded at RB either (Lynch, R. Jennings, Gore, S. Jackson, B Oliver), I might be able to get Thomas for Gore and then trade Edelman for a backup back.

Yeah, I was with you on Lacy and didn't want to draft him and this was why. I don't think he will be this bad all year but I should probably keep Forte since he's my only real money in the bank RB.

Also, in my other league where I really need a RB I was offered Sproles and Talafarrio (sp?) for McKinnon and VJax. No, right? Another guy said he'd swap me Tate (Crowell is a FA so I can cuff him) for a WR.. I have VJax, Mike Floyed, Terrance Williams, Quick and Cooks so I can part with one of them since we only start 2 a week.

I don't have anyone on that offense, so I've only watched them a little, but everytime I watch the games, he's running into 3 unblocked guys. I don't see that changing. That system isn't built for RB's, specifically guys like him. If he doesn't get goalline carries, he's pretty much useless and if he does get goalline carries, he's probably running into 6 guys.

Dalton is available in my 10 team league too.
kmed : 10/1/2014 10:07 am : link
A guy earlier mentioned that Dalton was the #2 QB in his league after 3 weeks. In my league he's the 20th ranked QB based on average per week. Yes, he was great last year, but he hasn't gotten off to a good start fantasy wise. I do think he will get better though.
RE: Pats and their passing game....
kmed : 10/1/2014 10:08 am : link
I almost feel like they are making a conscious effort not to overwork Gronk so much. He looks like he gets open plenty and he's moving well enough, but he's just not getting the looks. Anyone else think they are limiting his targets early so that he's still there later?

arcarsenal : 10/1/2014 10:08 am : link
Dalton's going to get some help.. Marvin Jones is coming back this week. 10 TD's last year only getting like 50% of the snaps. I scooped him off waivers. Hoping he will help my WR sitch. May even start him over Kendall Wright who has been useless.

I just dont trust Vereen and Belichek in the way he uses his RBs...going into each game you do not know who is going to get the bulk of the touches...

With Olsen and Graham yes of course it is an upgrade to Graham but Olsen is effectively their number 2 receiver and Newton will start to get into a groove and use Olsen more...

I just like Tate more than Hilton and with Megatron hobbled a little bit Tate was the guy they went to...he is a good number 2 receiver...i just trust Tate week to week more than Hilton...

In the end i just dont think it is a trade you need to make...

dropped Cousins for Dalton. Guy has to have breakout game at some point. Green should be healed up off the BYE and Jones coming back is also huge.

Cousins will be hit or miss all season but his next 2 are against Seattle and AZ, so i probably wouldn't have started him over Brady those weeks anyway.

Appreciate the feedback. You don't have to tell me about the Pats and their RB usage, I've been harping on that since the first fantasy threads. Again though, it's not RB's vs RB's and I think Vereen will be servicable as a starter and he would be compared to my TE which is still an upgrade.

I happen to think Olsen is very overrated. I think he's serviceable as a starter, but they don't pass a ton and they aren't a great passing offense. He will have a few duds week to week.

I like Hilton better than Tate personally. I think Tate is good, but I also have calvin which is annoying. I think Hilton is going to start finding the endzone and I also think Detroit has as many passing options as Indy. I think it's a lateral move in reality, but I like Hilton more moving forward.

Def not a trade I need to make, I'm not even actively shopping anyone because I like my team a lot, but this opportunity came to me and I'm always looking to improve. It's not like I'm messing with team chemistry.

I think there are reasons for both sides to be honest...it wouldnt be a bad trade if you did it...
Lacy
Rocky Thompson : 10/1/2014 10:59 am : link

GB lost JC Tretter at the end of training camp, through the Linsey kid from Ohio St into the fire at Seattle without ever making a game snap to Rodgers. Lotsa growing pains in run defense, he picked pass protection faster. Tretter comes back in 4 weeks, Lacy is a prime buy low candidate.

Dalton
AJGreen has turf toe, minimum healing time is 3 weeks completely staying off the foot with medical treatment. He hasn't done that. Maybe he's a fast healer but in most cases where the player comes back to soon they do more damage to the joint and it never heals. It can very realistically be a problem going forward. Dalton's value takes a major hit without AJ Green.

That's somewhat unfair unless you expect that is how things will remain.

Otherwise, look at WR, Demaryius Thomas is the 60th or so (I stopped counting) rated WR in my league, percentage points after Allen Robinson.

I think Lacy has under-performed, but I don't expect it to stay that way.

I don't own him in any leagues so I don't care if his leg falls off, but there are many highly drafted RB's who are not performing to their draft status. Forget Adrian Peterson.

Heck, LeSean McCoy has 10 points more than Lacy. 2.5 per week. And McCoy is tied with Shane Vereen (ppr league).

I think its fair
UConn4523 : 10/1/2014 11:02 am : link
Demaryius Thomas has a proven track record of getting better each season AND has Peyton throwing him the ball. He will absolutely get his.

Lacy, has a limited track record, doesn't catch the ball, and plays on a team that hasn't run the ball well for the majority of the Rodgers era. Its why I stayed away and wouldn't trade for him.

As for McCoy, it can't get any worse, and i'm sure he will be better worked into the passing game while the OL gets put back together.
Green played week 3 on the turf toe
UConn4523 : 10/1/2014 11:04 am : link
can had a 100 yard game. To me that shows it isn't a terrible injury. Could it linger? Sure. But they had a good BYE week for it plus the night game on Sunday. Green should be fine if reports have any merit.

Anti inflammatories, ice, elevation on off days, depends on his endurance for pain and if he develops bone spurs. AJ's too important to that offense to sit for the 3 weeks. He made it through week 3 but didn't finish week 2 just something to keep in mind...

RE: Lacy....

Besides everything Uconn stated, which was spot on. Chicago was arguably one of the 3 worst run defenses in the game coming into last game and Lacy didn't even crack 50 yards on 17 runs! That's a 2.8 average and a decent number of rushes too. Their running game is awful.

Lacy caught 35 passes as a rookie. 1 per week less than McCoy.

The struggles in GB that were starting to be relieved last Sunday will eventually also be relieved for the running game IMO. Like I said, I don't have Lacy, but I see this is a good buy low opportunity.

You've been saying the same things for weeks.

UConn4523 : 10/1/2014 11:19 am : link
i'm with kmed on this one. Had Rodgers bee there a full season and passed to him 3 times a game you'd have a point, but the guy just isn't part of the offense in that way, and probably never will be unless there is a drastic change somewhere.

Nelson's value has never been higher and Cobb is starting to get it going. That means things may get easier for Lacy but he sure as hell won't be getting their targets.
Lacy
Rocky Thompson : 10/1/2014 11:20 am : link

Gotta give a guy that had close to 1200 yds and 35 receptions at 17 yards per catch last year a chance since he's living with a rookie center. Call me irresponsible but I''d consider him a buy low candidate...
Lacy had 16 catches in the 9 games that Rodgers
kmed : 10/1/2014 11:24 am : link
played in last year(although Rodgers got hurt early in one of those games), with 9 of them coming in 2 games. He had 1 catch or less in 5 of the 9 games and he had 21 catches in the 7 games that Rodgers was in street clothes.
what 2 should I start out of the following 3:
RD in CT : 10/1/2014 11:26 am : link

I'll admit I was wrong after the season if his numbers remain at this level. It's not like I'm penciling him in my starting lineup every week and getting my teeth kicked in because of it. I don't think week 4 is when declare finality.

I won't admit I'm wrong after 4 games (including one against Seattle who held Demaryius thomas to 4 catches for 31 yards and peyton manning under his season averages). Let's see the season play out.

It will do me far more good to be wrong than right on this.
Lacy is definitely a good buy Low
UConn4523 : 10/1/2014 11:30 am : link
but he doesn't have the upside the other buy low's (like McCoy) do.

I'd give up a WR3 for him at this point.
You've been a strong Lacy supporter for a while.
kmed : 10/1/2014 11:34 am : link
My point isn't to prove you wrong, but to clarify your statement that you don't have Lacy in any leagues so you are being objective. You don't have him, but I'd assume that's more because you weren't in a position to draft him because you've been singing his praises since day 1. You keep making the same mistake too. You keep comparing Lacy with Rodgers to Lacy last year. It's like 2 different players in games Rodgers played and games he didn't.

With Rodgers-he averaged 3.8 yards per carry and caught less than 2 balls per game.

Without Rodgers-he averaged 4.5 yards per carry and caught about 3 balls per game.

When Rodgers went down, they went to a ground and pound offense and Lacy was the center of the offense. If you've ever watched the Packers with Rodgers, you'd know that they don't run anything close to that offense with Rodgers playing.
7 of Lacy's 11 TD's
kmed : 10/1/2014 11:37 am : link
came in games Rodgers was out.
If you annualized Lacy's production in games Rodgers was in:
kmed : 10/1/2014 11:43 am : link
1100 yards, 30 catches, 200 receiving yards, 8 TD's. In my scoring system of 1 pt per 10 yards, PPR and 6 pts for a TD, that equals=110+30+20+48=208 total points. That would have put him at 18th amongst RB's last year. This year the line is even worse and they are feeding him less. I think his carries will go up more and he will be an ok RB 2 some weeks, but I wouldn't trade for him considering he will cost way too much.

he was a rookie last year, sure there will be some adjustment for Rodgers return, but I also expected some adjustment for his second season.

Additionally, when the Packers roll out Scott Tolzien, doesn't that scream 8-men in the box, and make it harder to run? So if true, and Lacy had success in those conditions you have to think it's a play call thing limiting Lacy's effectiveness or lessening it when Rodgers is in the game.

It made sense. rookie RB or veteran elite QB, whose hands to you want the ball in?

I expected even with Rodgers, as a 2nd year back they'd incorporate Lacy into the offense more.

Problem is they haven't and they've played some great defenses in SEA and DET and another very good run D in NYJ (that front 4 is ridiculous). Will it change, I think so, but if not, I have zero issue saying I was wrong.

I had opportunities to draft Lacy in both my leagues. One I had the 4th pick and selected Peterson, Lacy went next and the other league I picked 2nd and took Forte. Lacy went 5th.

Alright, so I can get Ben Tate for Cooks straight up in a league where I am really hurting at RB and I can scoop Crowell to cuff him to safeguard me from another injury. My other WR's are Vjax, Michael Floyd, Brian Quick and Terrance Williams. I think I have enough comparable talent to Cooks to make the swap (we only start 2 WR). Any reason not to make that deal?

Good fantasy RB's rack up pts regardless because they catch balls, get goalline opps and get a lot of touches. That's why GB RB's haven't been great with Rodgers. They don't get a ton of opportunities and they aren't built for running.

Not to mention, Lacy also went against one of the worst rushing defenses in the league(Chicago) and was absolutely stifled with 17 carries and 2.8 yards per carry.
arc, I was pretty high on Tate coming into the season,
kmed : 10/1/2014 12:02 pm : link
but I do think this early injury left the door open to a RBBC approach moving forward. It's not like the other two guys have proved that they can't run either as both guys have shown flashes. I understand the positional need, but I think Cooks is going to be better.

I never knew if that was a chicken or egg thing. Their RB were garbage with Ryan Grant, James Starks, the kid from UCLA who looked good, but had a career-ender.

Lacy is their first elite RB since who Ahman Green?

You have to figure you don't use a 2nd round pick for a guy you don't intend on using in your offense. Especially one who demonstrated so much success in the NFL as a rookie. They purposely drafted Lacy, it's not like they somehow got stuck with him.

I think things will change in GB, and if not, if this is it for Lacy, then I'm wrong.

looking for some help so I'll try to respond to some of the last few
tbonfig : 10/1/2014 12:07 pm : link
questions in last to first order:

SoZKillA - it really depends on who you would be getting for Jackson. Your WRs obviously aren't a huge strength but will be bolstered once Gordon comes back. Tate is reported to come back but it is going to be a tricky situation with the other two backs playing well to see who comes out of that 3-headed attack.

arc - I agree that you have the comparable talent on board so there shouldn't be much of a dropoff between Cooks and the others listed there. The problem with Tate is the same as I described above but if you can handcuff with Crowell that you can hope one of those two will come out on top. I would make the deal.

RD in CT - I am in a similar boat, I would start Hopkins and Asiata this week and I'm not sure I like the Floyd matchup.

arcarsenal : 10/1/2014 12:09 pm : link
He probably will be but my other RB's are Morris, J. Bell and McKinnon.. I really need another dude. I think I can get by with the other WR's I have especially since I only need to start two of them. I literally just picked up Quick as a FA so there are WR's available in that league but RB is TOTALLY dry. I think I can cover Cooks' production well enough.

FWIW, I have Gordon stashed in that league, too.. but it won't matter if I don't make the playoffs and I'm already 0-4. I feel like I gotta do something. The other offer I got was Sproles/Talaffario for VJax/McKinnon.. I don't think that really does much for me and I want to keep McKinnon because I think he has stud potential for the 2nd half
I was offered Demaryius and Cooks

McKinnon @ GB

Would you start Reggie Wayne or Roddy White?

pjcas18 : 10/1/2014 12:10 pm : link
something he's never proven he can be or sustain, it isn't really close, he's the most talented back in the backfield.

I read he'll get 60% of the snaps this week.

Should be a good test and if he comes out healthy and performs even reasonably well, it props up his value even more and diminishes West and Crowell, if he does nothing or leaves injured (more likely) then this fuels the fire of the RBBC approach or even IR-ing Tate.
Which WR should I pick up off the waivers in a .5 league
AnotherGiantsFan : 10/1/2014 12:17 pm : link
Marvin Jones, Malcom Floyd, or ODB?

I feel like Marvin Jones is probably the best bet, but the homer in me really wants Odell on my team just in case he blows up.
.
arcarsenal : 10/1/2014 12:18 pm : link
Crowell jumped West so I think if Tate gets hurt again, he's getting most of the snaps.. in which case I'm fine anyway. If Tate is healthy, Pettine says he's getting most of the work. So I think I'm gonna pull the trigger. Either way I'll have a guy getting carries which is what I need right now. I'll be alright at WR.
Can someone give me a reason not to drop fitz

AGF, go with Jones. Odell will probably have some value in a few weeks but I don't think he'll be worth using for a bit. He's not gonna get enough snaps. Jones scored 10 times last year and didn't even play a ton. He knows how to get into the endzone and apparently Hue is really excited about getting him back.

Alfred Morris vs. Seattle;
Toby Gerhardt vs. Pittsburgh; or
Stevan Ridley vs. Cinninnati.

Typically, it would be a no brainer. Morris all the way. However, this week he's facing a very tough opponent in the Legion of Boom. Would you temp fate and sit him in favor of the unimpressive Gerhardt? For a change, Pittsburgh doesn't have a very tough D. What do you think?

I really need to tweak my team. I've lost 2 weeks in a row due to some awful luck (Lost by 1 pt after Woodhead gave me .1 points before getting hurt... lost by 1 pt again after Charles went out thanks to Cordarelle's shitty game).

I'm really week on WR 2 and WR 3. I'm trying to plug the hole with a FA pickup. My RB2 might be kind of weak also (Fred Jackson)... I intended to move FJax and Woodhead in and out based on matches, but that went out the window, though I suppose Fjax isn't a terrible RB2.

Here's my team:

QBs: Luck, Newton

WRs: Alshon, Cordarelle, Boldin, Miles Austin, Allen Hurns (just dropped Hartline).

RBs: Gio, FJax, McFadden, Jeremy Hill (picked him up, but do you think Andre Williams, would be a better stash? I stupidly used a waiver wire claim on Starks, but dropped him this week. How much longer does Lacy need to suck before Starks eats into his carries?

TE: Graham, Jordan Reed (just picked up Reed thinking I can maybe trade him down the line, or at least use him for Graham's bye).

K/Def: Tucker and Pittsburgh.

There's a couple free agents I can pick up. Who do you think is more likely to help out down the line, out of Tavon Austin, Andre Williams, and Malcolm Floyd.

I'm kind of leaning towards picking up Floyd, but who would you drop?

I'm also considering starting Miles Austin over Boldin. I'm hoipng Hurns gets more valuable as the year goes on, now that Shorts is out again, and Marquise Lee has been hurt.

I'm trying to flip Cam for a WR3, but his value is in the garbage. Do you think Michael Floyd or Terrence Williams would be a good value for Cam given the makeup of my team?

Pierce. Unless Talafarro or Forsett get hurt, he's totally worthless. There's a good chance Foster gets banged up again which will give Blue value.

Until we see otherwise he is a starting RB who missed 2 games due to injury. If we see Taliaferro outcarry Pierce in a game both are playing then it is safe to. People assumed Forsett was the starter and Pierce got 22 carries.
.
arcarsenal : 10/1/2014 1:39 pm : link
Show me one thing that says Pierce is the starter right now. I guarantee you he will not out touch the other two guys. They both looked better than he has since 2012 and there's no indication that he's going to jump back in and get the majority of the carries. Pierce has looked like shit this year and sucked last year. He got garbage time yards against PIT and that was it. He was active and could have played last week. If he was truly the "starter", he would have. Harbaugh didn't need him.
Yeah Marvin Jones is the safer bet
AnotherGiantsFan : 10/1/2014 1:45 pm : link
I picked him up. I'm pretty good at WR right now with Dez, Keenan Allen, Roddy White, Emmanuel Sanders, Marvin Jones, Markus Wheaton, and Josh Gordon.

If only it was as easy to get some fucking RBs.

By the way, I'd go with Robinson over Hurns. Not an easy choice though. First, because the team sucks. Second, because they are such different WRs. Hurns is that beat you over the top threat that can get you double digits in a single catch. Robinson is more of a "workhorse" with short, intermediate passes.

My opinions.....Foles(although I'd probably start Eli so it's extra motivation for me when he does well). I just think Philly at home is too good to pass up unless it's a terrible matchup and the Rams defense blows. I expect that to be magnified in Philly after a bad loss.

My theory on Gronk is that they are holding him back in an attempt to protect him for the stretch run. He doesn't look hurt to me and he's still open even when he's covered, but they just aren't targeting him. He's averaging 5 targets a game. I think he will continue to progress and eventually be a force again(assuming health which isn't always a safe assumption with him).

I do think Donnell is for real though. There is nobody else on the team that can possibly take time from him at this point and you can't fake athleticism. He's going to continue to be a great fantasy TE, IMO. I'd bet that he will average 8-9 targets a game and catch 6-7 balls a game and continue to be a red zone threat.

Due to Gronk's injury history and gambling that he will get more snaps as the season goes on, I'm taking Donnell which is crazy to say.
In regards to trading Gronk for Donnell though....
kmed : 10/1/2014 4:33 pm : link
I don't know if I'd be able to pass up on Gronk's upside though. It would depend on if I have any other TE's on my roster to offset the risks associated with Gronk.

I'm def leaning towards starting Eli. The ATL D gave up a ton of yards last week and it seems like the Giants O is finally rounding into form.

To update anyone that might want to share an opinion:

Guy in my league(PPR) is shopping Graham. I offered him:

Bernard, Golden Tate and Vernon Davis(I also have Olsen)
for
Graham, Hilton and Vereen

He declined and asked for Olsen instead of Vernon Davis. Personally, I don't think there's much of a gap between the two if any at all. My only hesitation is that I was going to then shop Olsen around. Either way, Olsen or Davis would be my backup TE. I can try to play hardball and say Davis or no deal, but it might not happen.
.
arcarsenal : 10/1/2014 4:44 pm : link
I think the difference between Davis and Olsen is negligible enough to still make the deal since it's going to be your backup either way. If you liked the deal enough to start (which, if you offered it, obviously you did), that shouldn't hold you up.
Agree completely with arc....

Italianju : 10/1/2014 4:51 pm : link
hold up the deal.

So Im in a keeper league where we play 2 QBs so they are pretty valuable. I have Peyton and R. Wilson (eli on my bench). Was offered Dez for Wilson, which i know is a good deal, but in a 2 QB league Wilson has a ton of value. Im also worried about how much longer i can keep Peyton and liked having a young guy to keep. If you dont have at least 1 QB keeper you are starting off in a bad spot since so many are kept. I think that Eli can do enough to make up for the loss of WIlson.

My WRs are A. Brown (obviously fine) but then Edelman, Quick, Patterson. So im really looking for an upgrade. I have to start 2.

League is standard scoring, no PPR.

league. It's hard to really know whats right without knowing the intricacies of the league. That being said, if I had to give an opinion....I don't think you are missing anything dropping to Eli as your 2nd QB. I think he will continue to be a valuable QB2. I also think he has a few years left as a fantasy QB. Peyton has 2 years left, IMO. I understand the concern losing a good, young fantasy QB, but this isn't Luck. You will just have to make it a priority to find a young QB in the coming years.

Marvin Jones tweaked his ankle on Wednesday and was listed as "DNP."
Jones can't catch a break. After missing all of the offseason program with an ankle injury, Jones returned to training camp for all of one practice before breaking his foot. In his first official practice back from the broken foot on Wednesday, Jones hurts his ankle. He was initially expected to make his season debut this week against New England, but now Jones' status is up in the air.

He really can't catch a break. Injuries have been a concern for him for a while now, which is unfortunate since he's really good.

Would any of you release any of these guys for ODB? I just really want him on my team. It makes sense from an unbiased perspective as well since he's the only first round WR to be a FA.

Markus Wheaton
Jordan Reed
Josh Gordon
Isaiah Crowell
Lorenzo Taliaferro
Marvin Jones

I just can't release Josh Gordon. He's no lock to be lighting the world on fire when he gets back, but I'll take the risk. I'm hoping Isaiah Croweel or Lorenzo T. emerge since I'm incredibly weak at RB. Jordan Reed has done nothing but I need a backup TE. I feel like I can release Markus Wheaton and still be able to pick him up a couple of weeks from now if I want. I really like him, but he's not a big name.
I can't believe everyone is so high on ODBjr
kmed : 10/1/2014 6:07 pm : link
He's a rookie who has had no camp and extremely limited practice. What do you guys really think he's going to do? With Randle, Cruz and Donnell, there will be limited opportunities and he won't be an every down player probably for a few weeks. I wouldn't waste a roster spot on ODBjr unless it's a dynasty league.
I don't think it's going to take that long for him to have value.
arcarsenal : 10/1/2014 6:21 pm : link
I picked him up and I'm not gonna start him this week but I feel pretty confident that barring a setback with his hamstring, he will be worth starting as a WR3 by the end of the month.

Also.. annoying news about Jones, I just saw that before. I was considering rolling with him over Kendall Wright. Wright has been garbage this year so far... mostly because his QB situation sucks.
He was the most NFL ready first rounder
AnotherGiantsFan : 10/1/2014 6:24 pm : link
When it comes to route running. This isn't a Jerry Reese on Randle type of situation where he claimed him NFL ready.

After being questioned about his Kelvin Benjamin pick (because of questionable route running), David Gettlemen said that the only WR in this Draft's route-running you cannot question is ODB.

ODB has a shot to eat up the short/intermediate passes in the middle of the field.

If I wasn't a Giants fan, I probably wouldn't do it. But I love me some ODB.
I'd be willing to bet
kmed : 10/1/2014 6:39 pm : link
that he's a FA in most leagues in a month. If he's your WR3, you have serious issues. It's not like he's a guy we are going to force the ball to. We have 3 legitimate other weapons. The dude missed all of camp and just about every practice for the first 2 months of his NFL career. He'd be lucky to average 4 catches a game in a month from now.
We'll see.
arcarsenal : 10/1/2014 6:47 pm : link
I think he's going to be more productive than people think.

If we were running last years offense I would expect close to zero but as much as I like Randle, he sucks after the catch. Beckham has a lot more potential there and could hit on some big plays if we get the ball in his hands quickly.
Just from a value perspective

It makes sense. He was the 3rd WR taken in the 2014 Draft, but is the only FA out of all the 1st round WRs.

ODB is a great weapon for this type of offense. No huddle, dink and dunk type. I can see Eli throwing some YAC throws to ODB in the near future.
The dude in my league backed out of the trade with me.....
kmed : 10/1/2014 7:32 pm : link
He asked another guy in my league and the dude talked him out of it so he backed out. I think it's sketchy consulting with someone else in the same league. I would never do that.
There's nothing sketchy about that at all
AnotherGiantsFan : 10/1/2014 7:38 pm : link
That's just you being salty you got fucked out of a deal.

It's stupid to consult, but not sketchy.
Maybe.
kmed : 10/1/2014 7:51 pm : link
I guess I just find it annoying when someone offers me a trade offline(not on yahoo) and then rescinds. In my head the trade was done so you start to look at your team with those players. That being said, I can't get mad at him about that, its not official until it's offered and accepted.

I do find it sketchy that the dude whos my direct competition talked him out of the trade. He should not have a say in a trade conversation between two other teams, he's got ulterior motives. All he kept saying was how it made my team so much better.
WSIS @ Defense this week?
Grey Pilgrim : 10/1/2014 7:59 pm : link
And who should I drop?

I sort of have the Chargers penciled in, but I'm afraid Rex will have the Jets fired up and ready to play staring at 1-4. Thoughts?

Also, if I were to drop a player for a second D who would that be?

Chargers vs. Jets

Eagles vs. Stl

Giants vs. Atl

My Team:

Foles
Eli

Lynch
R Jennings
Hyde
Bradshaw
Crowell

Dez
Maclin
Wallace
Decker

Gronk

Vinatieri

Chargers

TIA
Which is why it's stupid
AnotherGiantsFan : 10/1/2014 8:09 pm : link
To consult with anyone in the league. No one cares if your team gets worse. The third party is playing mind games. It's not as if he's colluding.

The sketchy thing is how someone so dumb can be in the league.
Knowshon Moreno had a setback
Mr. Nickels : 10/1/2014 8:39 pm : link

Hell yes.

every RB I own has zero job security and this news is much needed.

I hope they just IR Moreno.
The bandwidth wasted on
Rocky Thompson : 10/1/2014 9:04 pm : link

A non essential trade in a 10 team league. A 10 team league, should they even be accounted as valid. I mean, I could miss the draft in a 10 team league, fill the Yahoo auto draft spots with FA pickups and make the playoffs if I was on vacation for the first 3 weeks.

Anybody playing in 14, 16 team leagues with IDPs have something more challenging to talk about?

Just sayin, ya know, it's 4 weeks in, let's upgrade the participants...

Can we get rid of this idiot now?

Nickels, where did you seeing that regarding Moreno?
kmed : 10/1/2014 9:43 pm : link
I too am a miller owner which would be great, but I'm not seeing it.
Would you start...

Vereen v. CIN or McKinnon v. GB?

Vereen.

Too much uncertainty with McKinnon right now.

New Player Note Wed, Oct 1
Knowshon Moreno (elbow) said he's four weeks away from returning.
Advice: "I probably got like four more weeks," Moreno said. "About four more weeks and I'll be good." The Dolphins were hoping to have Moreno back in Week 6 when they come out of their bye. He's now targeting Week 8 against Jacksonville for his return. Lamar Miller will continue to be Miami's lead back for at least the next three games, with Daniel Thomas and Damien Williams backing him up.

I hate to say McKinnon, but you never know how many touches he'll get, but Vereen is even worse with the touches and Cinci D is tough.

I'd prob go McKinnon, but wouldn't consider it a strong start.
If McKinnon is cleared to play...
EricJ (formerly Tyleraimee) : 10/1/2014 10:35 pm : link
and he is healthy. That guy will end up getting the most touches.
GB's run D
Rocky Thompson : 10/1/2014 11:06 pm : link

Has been good until last week. Gonna be iffy weather, hostile environment for Bridewater ( if he plays) this ain't Atlanta he's seeing. McKinnon is a reach but I believe he's a better play than Asiata. If there ever was a sell high guy, Asiata is the man.

Vereen, who knows, nobody knows, it's Belichick with a screwed up offense. Cincy's D is arguably the best (Seattle at home but overall, Cincy looks good) Burfict back this week? Gonna be a tough day for Tom Terrific again. Only guy I'd trust is Gronk this week for NE against Cincy.

Draft position dictates Vereen, logic dictates McKinnon. Flip a coin or maybe pick up Antone Smith for garbage time against the Jints?
The clock is going to strike midnight on Asiata soon.
arcarsenal : 10/1/2014 11:12 pm : link
McKinnon is just better.

Thankfully I got him in one of my leagues and I am starting him tomorrow night.. kind of out of necessity but I like the matchup. I'm still kicking myself for dropping him in my main league last week. I seriously do not know what I was thinking. Oy..
Thing that makes Asiata viable
Rocky Thompson : 10/1/2014 11:15 pm : link

Is he's included in the passing game. Why more than Cordarelle is a mystery. I like Norv Turner as an OC though, he's gotta be finding another god after AP. Best of luck if Ponder's starting though...
Should I
Mr. Nickels : 10/1/2014 11:38 pm : link
drop Rueben Randle for Eddie Royal to start at flex or stick with Randle
I picked up Royal last week
Rocky Thompson : 10/1/2014 11:58 pm : link

Because of his targets and he paid off, Randle will probably see less targets when OBJ gets acclimated. This week, however, you have to start every Giant available against Atlanta. I know, I know, looks too easy but you gotta play the match ups on anybody drafted lower than the fifth rd, right?

Royal long term, Randle this week would be my guess. I don't own Randle though...

Atlanta is vulnerable on the ground more than the air. And it looks like Beckham debuts this week..

Royal is playing the Jets ranked last against the pass. Chargers have no run game so they will be forced to throw. Malcom Floyd is questionable leaving Keenan Allen Gates and Royal. If Jets focus on Allen as they should Royal should have a field day. Plus they use Royal on short passes in lieu of the run.

Both guys get a lot of targets though.

I see Royal more as a flash in the pan and like Randle more long term myself though. Royal is on a hot streak and the Jets it should continue..
