Osi speaks about almost everything

Defenderdawg : 10/1/2014 11:44 am
@ebenezersamuel: Osi Umenyiora says he "had alot of very good relationships" in Giants locker room and he does miss that.

@ConorTOrr: Osi says Jerry Reese keeps bringing in the right guys. Wonder if he'll be appearing on #FindingGiants?

@art_stapleton: Osi on Eli: "He's throwing that ball really fast, I see that. ... Seems like he has full command of that new offense." #NYG

@ConorTOrr: Osi on sacking Eli: "Eli's my brother, man. I'm not necessarily looking forward to it." #nyg

@ebenezersamuel: Osi on Beatty: "Now he looks at the schedule and he sees me on it, and all of a sudden he's an All-Pro left tackle."

@Patricia_Traina: Osi on Beatty: "Lst year I left and his performance slipped off. This yer he sees me on the schedule and he steps up."

@TomRock_Newsday: Osi on JPP being a mentor and a leader: "That is pretty funny. But he's the guy now."

@ebenezersamuel: Osi says he's not looking at this game that "oh, I'm trying to get revenge on them."

@ebenezersamuel: Osi on the Falcons: "We're just very inconsistent...we have to find a way to be more consistent in our play."

@Patricia_Traina: Osi says Falcons need to stop the run. Gee, that sounds familiar.

@ebenezersamuel: Osi on the Falcons D: "First and foremost, we have to stop the run...three of the four weeks, we haven't done a very good job at all."

@ebenezersamuel: Osi on his role in Atlanta: "I'm gonna leave that one alone, move on to the next question." Says it with a laugh.

@ebenezersamuel: Osi: "Right now, I come in on third downs, I'm a pass-rush specialist. That's the main difference...I don't have any complaints."

@Patricia_Traina: Osi on his role: "Do I feel like I could be helping more? Yes, but I'm going to do what they tell me to do."

@Patricia_Traina: Osi said he disliked some of the things he did when he was young while he was here.

@Patricia_Traina: But he said he has "zero regrets" and left NY with having a great relationship with everyone.

@Patricia_Traina: Osi sid he'd like to play as long as possible, but at the same time he doesn't want to jump from team to team if it comes to that.

@Patricia_Traina: When asked if he'd like to finish his career here he said, "I can't think that far ahead."

@Patricia_Traina: Does he wish he was still here? "That's a question I can't really answer. I did what was best for me + Giants did what was best for them."

@TomRock_Newsday: Osi: "I left there on good terms so I don't see why it should be a bad reception (from the fans)."

@Patricia_Traina: Osi on if he looks forward to seeing his former teammates, coaches and team staff: "Absolutely."

@ebenezersamuel: Umenyiora says he still talks to Justin Tuck "at least once a week." Says he wouldn't wish Raider situation on him: "Not on anybody man."

@TomRock_Newsday: Osi on Tuck: "A player has to do what's best for his family but sometimes that puts you in a bad situation."
He called JPP being a leader "funny"!!

Get the pitchforks out, we know hate Osi forever!!
His comments on Beatty and JPP (especially) were pretty funny

So did Prince

and Nunn in not so many words.

Funny that

One of Osi's main gripes while he was here was that he didn't want to be a pass-rush specialist and wanted to play every down. Now hes doing the same thing in ATL.
Osi has matured a lot from his early playing days

Sounds like he's not happy about being a pass rush specialist in Atlanta either.
LOL
mrvax : 10/1/2014 12:00 pm : link
At his Beatty and Raiders comments. I'll bet Tuck is none too happy to be playing there. At least he gets paid millions.
Always liked Osi

Not a complete player but he was a game changer.

what did Prince say?

T-Bone

loves the Osi!
he did leave on good terms so
nicky43 : 10/1/2014 12:05 pm : link
I just hope the fans give him a nice welcome and don't boo him.

I'm sure I'm not as objective as I could be,
Exit 172 : 10/1/2014 12:06 pm : link
but when I read a lot of ex-Giants quotes, they just don't seem thrilled to be on their new team.

I mean, imagine you're a Falcons fan. Wouldn't some of those quotes bother you?
LMAO
Joeguido : 10/1/2014 12:08 pm : link
about the Raiders quote....looks like they won't be giving Osi millions to go there and retire like they do with so many after that comment.
Tuck
giantfanboy : 10/1/2014 12:18 pm : link
it does not take a rocket scientist to know going to the Raiders would be a bad situation.

Anybody who boos Osi is ignorant.
an_idol_mind : 10/1/2014 12:30 pm : link
He might not have liked his contract, but he played hard most of the time and helped provide a pair of championships.

I could see hard feelings after his poor effort in 2009, but he matured after that.
Tuck will get "hurt"
Coughlin's Rules : 10/1/2014 12:34 pm : link
and sit back and collect his millions. He knew it was the right play for his family.
I say the split between cheers and boos
Mike in Long Beach : 10/1/2014 12:35 pm : link
Is gonna be somewhere in the area of like 93%/7%

There will be a few idiots, but overall, the man brought us championships and sacks. I'd cheer if I were there.
Look to run on 3 rd down Osi's side, the

Happy to see that he finally got his big pay day. 2 year deal: $2,500,000 signing bonus, $3,750,000 guaranteed, annual average salary $4,250,000.
Sounds like a 2x Champion Veteran nearing the end.
Ben in Tampa : 10/1/2014 12:54 pm : link
Content and realistic.

Outside of the contract drama every summer, Osi was a great Giant. Say what you want about Plax in '08, but if Osi was healthy, that defense probably doesn't wear down as bad as it did and we win the Super Bowl.
Osi - Jerry Reese contract debacle w/accusations of lying.

I think the jury is still out. I sure there both still sore.
for a guy with almost 100 career sacks, he doesn't really

Yeah there's a lot of guys who seem to really miss their time with the Giants after they leave - Jacobs being the biggest. Their new organizations probably don't like it either when they wax poetic about how great the Giants organization is
probably not
Great White Ghost : 10/1/2014 2:20 pm : link

Where was he going with this?

Was he talking about the contract issues or things he said or what?

This made me look at all-time sack leaders. Strahan and LT are only members of top 10 to spend entire career with one team. I liked that
everyone
BigBlueCane : 10/1/2014 2:48 pm : link
will like Osi unless he starts sacking Eli and abusing Beatty.

I can't see any scenario where Osi gets booed
I'mRonBurgandy? : 10/1/2014 4:05 pm : link
before the game. I think he'll be really warmly received, pre-game. He won't get much love during it, however.

I have so many great memories of Osi as a player. He was demon-fast, master of sack/strip/fumble. No defensive players used to wear #72 as far as I can remember. Now you see it on some good players.

In fact, I'm clapping for him (with one hand) now as I type this.
You can't boo Osi
Joey in VA : 10/1/2014 4:18 pm : link
He was sometimes a jagweed in the locker room or in interviews, but he's just a different guy that way. He gave us some games to remember and was part of two SB wins, how can you NOT cheer that?
My guess ....
Mike in Raleigh : 10/1/2014 7:30 pm : link
is that Osi WILL NOT even "sniff" ... Eli ... but .. again ... that is just my hunch !!!! :)
I would probably get rid of Kiwi
nygiants1114 : 10/1/2014 7:57 pm : link
and bring them both back if i had a chance, probably just one but who knows....
Well see what happens with JPP.
how can you not like Osi?
fkap : 10/1/2014 7:59 pm : link
well for starters he was a shithead JAG for a couple of years who thought more of himself than was warranted?

Yay, he gave a couple of good-great plays once in a while, and was lackluster for the most part for a lot of his time with the Giants. he fucked up plays almost as often as he kicked ass. And wanted oodles and oodles of money to be a part time player that's why he's no longer a Giant.

Surprisingly close to "comical"...
Osi for the most part was an edge rusher
Reese's Pieces : 10/2/2014 3:59 am : link
who didn't get around the corner a lot more than he did. If the play was a run or screen to his side he often took himself out of the play.

But his 37 career forced fumbles were probably more impressive than his sacks. Thirty two with the Giants plus two in the playoffs, including the strip sack of Rodgers in the 2011 Division Playoff that Aikman, I think it was, kept saying had saved the Giants from a easy Rodgers TD throw.

Every enemy QB, although he couldn't see Osi's progress, had to be aware that Osi might be on him in another second and had to adjust the clock in his head to account for that possibility.

I like Osi, but I can see why a Giants fan would be lukewarm towards him too. The guy spent 75% of his time here bitching about his contract, and the rest of the time when he wasn't he was injured.

Excellent player, but one of the reasons he's not held in higher regard was because he spent almost as much time talking as he did playing.
He was an uneven player
fkap : 10/2/2014 12:06 pm : link
we loved it when he got a strip sack. Hated it when he took himself out of the play, or left a huge hole for the QB or RB to run through while he was racing around the outside. His style of play came at a cost.

The bitching was only the icing on the cake.
