It seems that literally every day you can find an instance like this in the news somewhere: an attractive female teacher is accused of having sex with a student. For as many of these stories that we hear about, how many more go un-detected because the kid keeps his mouth shut about it? I've got to figure this kind of thing happens even more frequently than we think.
In the pre-internet/24-hr news cycle days, were these female teacher & student trysts just as common as they seem to be today, but only a small fraction of them made the airwaves? In my 1980s high school days, there were rumors of a musician dude and an English teacher hooking up, but there was no social media forum for public speculation that might in turn have forced the hand of the powers-that-be into orchestrating a formal investigation.
It might not be very PC, but the more I think it over, the more I feel that yes; there should be a double-standard here. A pervy 35 yr-old male teacher who weasels his way into a 15-year-old's panties should get the shit kicked out of him, but I have trouble seeing a 16-year-old guy as the "victim" here when he plows two teachers at the same time.
when I was in high school, over 20 years ago, there were two dudes that I know of that we're plowing teachers. One was my 10th grade English teacher and one was a music teacher.
