This guy's motor never stops no matter what team he plays for. He is a difference maker and the Giants LB corps will have trouble stopping him. If the Eagles win, it will because of his performance.
The DL has been playing well and the Eagles OL has been banged up and suspect, I think you have to expect/ask your front four to control the LOS with minimal help in order to get more speed on the field.
sick of hearing about Sproles like he's Barry Sanders. Including returns hes averaging about 12 touches a game. Fuck Darren Sproles. He's terrific but he'll get overused as Chip learns what a piece of shit McCoy is (as he is well on the way to learning)...

However true that may be these game tend to be close, and he can turn any one of those touches into the game deciding score. McCoy and the OL is struggling, their wideouts are average at best, you gotta think Sproles is on the top of the list this week, and he presents problems with our (and in fairness nearly everyones) LBers.
Beason back. He won't help on speed, but he will help us adjust on the spot to whatever Chip is doing in real time. If he's in, and JPP and Rolle are on point I think we can contain their running backs. Also remember the Prince is a pretty good CB against the run.
While Sproles is a difference maker, I still think it comes down to stopping the run and not turning the ball over. Cant let Shady or Sproles get run game going and the offense and teams need to protect the ball.
so what? If we make more plays we win. Every week there is a guy that makes a lot of you change your underwear 3 times a day. Don't worry about the other guys, worry about our guys doing their jobs
in the first game(one tackle, 3 assists)? He missed tackles and was slow to fill the hole.....that's because he was not in football shape....
Think he is in football shape now? Everyone expects to see the Beason of last year, running all over the field making tackles.....not going to happen.....it may happen if he can play 2 or 3 games in a row and practice during the week, but not while being limited in practice and not getting into games....
Will the linebacker corp be stronger with him in there? Yes, because of who he will be replacing.....but not being in football shape, never mind we don't know the true condition of that foot, will not allow him to make plays he normally does....and then cross your fingers he can play the following week....
Hopefully the coaches are drilling into them this week the importance of maintaining their gap assignments and not giving up outside leverage. Against slower teams the way they rally to the ball is helpful, but they don't need five guys to briing down McCoy or Sproles. Stay in your lanes and keep them from getting started and both can be handled. Over pursue and cutbacks can go for large chunks of yardage.
STEP 1 is clogging the middle and forcing McCoy to go outside.
Stopping McCoy is the key. The Eagles have become almost one dimensional with McCoy not running through gaping holes up the middle.
Clog the middle and hope Cromartie can single up on Maclin. Then the Giants can afford to put a safety and Williams as a spy on Sproles b/c the other Eagles receivers appear to be average.
disguised as a running back. There is no containing him, we can only hope to steal his lucky charms.
jk, I like Sproles. He has good field vision and blazing speed, two top attributes for a running back. Gap responsibilty & drill defending the draw play & screen pass.
What you've got to do is cut the hamstring on the back of his right leg at the bottom. Without being able to put weight on that right foot, he will struggle getting any speed or making cutbacks.
But it will be very difficult. I'd run a lot of nickel and get McBride on him if the Iggles are running two WRs with Williams on the TE. If they run three WR, stick Williams on Sproles and have McGride handle the wideout.
Either way, I agree that it's our biggest issue going into this game as a defense.

back NOT help on speed? Speed has always been one of Beason's best attributes
I'm just not sure how fast he'll be with a lingering foot injury and I don't have any numbers, but I get the sense that there are faster MLBs in this league. He's an upgrade though, but more so in his cerebral impact on the defense.
One of the beat writers made some good points on Herz sealing edges on running plays which was encouraging. However, sealing the edges won't necessarily contain guys like Sproles and Shady. They have an elusiveness about them. We need Beason as an on the field General, solid tackling, guys playing their part and being in position, and most importantly pressure right up the middle to blow everything up.
Going to be key in containment sunday night. Herzlich has been doing a good job against the run but when the Eagles decide to start using Sproles as a receiver that is where Herzlich is going to be exposed and torched.
Linebackers have got it wrong I think. The key is our D line collapsing the pocket, tipping balls, mak8ng Foles pump too many times. And when Sproles does get the ball, the first tackler has to make it.

Of course, Perry Fewell loves his Cover 2 . . . .
If he were, he would have had 15 touchdowns and been responsible for 4 pass interference calls deep in the opponent's territory.
And his blonde streak would have been better defined.

He'll be lucky to get 10 touches a game.
(HINT: they weren't good)
He'll quit the game...

Agreed. Fuck him.

We don't KNOW he isn't.
Lets smoke these fuckers.
