to seeing Beckham getting even better and taking Randle's starting job
I don't know the percentages, but I'm going to guess that the Giants have three wr on the fields more than 50% of their offensive snaps - and probably more than 75% of passing plays. Just a guess. But point is, IMO there are three starting WR, not two and Beckham is already a starter. And besides, Beckham is replacing Cruz, moving Cruz back to the slot.
Bottom line? With Beckham and O'Donnell, the Giants have a group of receivers that any team is going to struggle to defend. Loss of Jennings, however, really hurts the passing game in McAdoo's offense.
6-3 regular season (0-1 playoffs, 2006). This is what always gives me hope about playing in Philly. But I have grown to be an eternal pessimist when playing big games against the Eagles, even though I've seen Big Blue come out on top many times.
I usually have a good sense of how things are going to shake out; but not this season. I really don't have a handle on this Giants team yet (which makes me feel like I'm in the minority on BBI, which seems convinced we've turned the corner already) and I really can't say for certain how good or bad the Eagles are.
I'm sensing the Eagles O isn't as bad as it's been the last three weeks, but their D isn't as good, either. I'm sensing the Giants O isn't as good as it's been the last three weeks, but their D is. Special Teams play might be a significant factor.
So - Not a bad Philly O against a pretty good NY D.
And - Not a bad NY O against a pretty lousy Philly D.
But - Philly ST against NY Coach Quinn
George, I hope you're wrong about the ST TD. From memory, statistically speaking, teams that give up an interception TD, fumble recovery TD, or ST TD, almost never win.
You may disagree but to me this game is the season Â
I don't mean if they lose they are out of contention. I mean that this game will show us what sort of team we will have for the 2014 season.
This is the game that defines the 2014 Giants. I believe the Giants & Eagles will both give 100% effort. If our Giants lose it, then I will conclude the Eagles are a little better than our Gmen this year. If the Giants win a close one, it will tell me we have a solid chance to win the division and will likely make the playoffs barring any catastrophic injuries.
If our Giants win by double digits as I believe they will, just jump for joy. It will mean to me that this team will pound Dallas next week too and will finish the season with at least 11 wins.

And if the Giants look great, but lose a close game?
RE: RE: You may disagree but to me this game is the season Â
have to contain Sproles, Ertz, and Celek. They could easily exploit our LBs. I think the game will be very close, but I'll predict the Giants win 24 - 20.
to seeing Beckham getting even better and taking Randle's starting job
Per the Cosell/Eagles breakdown the other day: the Giants have used 11 personnel more than any team in the league thus far. The 3rd WR in the Giants attack essentially is a sarter.
Dont worry about Randal..
cruz has been bad...
Randle. ..parker..cruz..so far...
Cruz will be just fine. Beckham, so long as he's truly healthy, is going to see to that. Put a healthy Beckham on the field, and every step he takes forward in his learning and confidence, is an equal step for Cruz getting more room and space. And the dropped balls are going to be a thing of the past - I think they've come because Cruz has been working in very narrow windows - again, as Beckham becomes a greater and greater threat, Cruz is going to see more and more space.
but I'm viewing this as a 2 game mini-playoff of sorts.
Lose both games, we're in deeep shit
Split the two games, we're "ok"
Win both games, we're in the driver's seat
I'm so pumped for this. I saw so many Giants sweatshirts and apparel yesterday, all of us fans are so ready for this game after the embarrassment of last season.
I think the two keys to the game for us are the DL play and the RB play. The difference between the 1st and 2nd halves against Atlanta last week was mainly due to the DL play. But against this Eagles team we can't have our DL only show up for one half. If our DL can dominate that Philly OL, we should win this game.
And although I'm a big fan of Andre Williams as a runner, I'm worried about our RBs in the passing game. Jennings was a good blocker and receiver, hopefully Hillis and Williams protect Eli well tonight and also make catches when it comes their way.
And the x-factor is clearly ODB aka OBJ aka Lil Becks aka Philly's worst nightmare. Can't wait to see how he plays tonight in a primetime divisional playoff game, hopefully he delivers.
I completely agree. Losing both of these games would make me think making the playoffs is highly unlikely. Going 7-2 over our last nine seems like an extremely tough task given our schedule.
Yeah... I think a lot of people, myself included, penciled in a Loss for Dallas @ SEA.
Before Cowboy's win today, a 3-3 outcome over the next 6 games might have been ok, now I think Giants need to go 4-2 with at least 1 win in the division if the want to stay in contention for the division title
...will be tough.
Winning in Dallas the next week will be tougher.
I think it's beyond reasonable expectations to think we come out 2-0.
I'll take 1-1 gladly and -- if we play real well -- then 2-0 would be sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet.
its not even reasonable??

Bill, I'd believe then that the Eagles are a bit better. Finding ways to win games that they have no business winning.
i want to crush these fuckers.

Either way the Giants have played their way to a meaningful game today, which is awesome!
TypE lIkE yoU Have A hEad INJury GOOOOooo GIIIIaNTS!!!11!
Likely inactives are Jennings, Paysinger, and either five linemen Or four linemen plus Hosley.
No need to sit Washington unless they dress eight OL and nine DL.
Is Beason playing? I've been out of the loop with work.
when is the inactives list coming out?
THANKS to Pope...2..3 tes blocking
Giants inactives: Jennings, Paysinger, Snyder, Wynn, Brewer, Mosley and Bromley. #NYG

Huh, Brown is active for the first time then. Hope we don't need him.
The defense is an entirely different defense with a healthy Beason ... and scary as hell when he's not
...beating the living shit out of them on both sides of the LOS, maybe it is imperative we win tonight!
In any event, next week will be a colossal nightmare if we don't go into Dallas with our "A" game.
Still plenty of time left, but I think a loss tonight leaves the Giants with not much room for error the rest of the way.
...exactly!
(and Dallas is a nightmare)!
