I still believe the giants are making a mistake

scott in albany : 10/14/2014 1:29 pm
not playing richburg at center. In my opinion he is a future pro bowl center. Walton does not impress me at all.

Put richburg at center and bench walton. He is a good back up. Find someone else to play guard.

Richburg is the type of player you build a offensive line around. Richburg was one of the few players who i saw last week who put up a fight.

I also think the giants should never ever give JPP a long term, expensive contract. I have been telling everyone since his rookie year JPP takes plays off. He has talent no doubt but i don't think he is worth big money.

One more thing, I still want reese fired. Too many bad picks. He does not understand you can not under value any position in the NFL.

needs to lose some weight, get back quickness;
Jerry-sits when GS comes back;
Walton-might get help from GS in line-up; if no improvement we might see WR at C;
Richburg-stays at LG, pending Walton;
Beatty-every week it's: do we see good Beatty or bad Beatty?

I don't like Walton at all, small, weak, not quick. I rather Richburg at Center, and put Schwartz at LG

So Walton, who is 6'3" and 305 pounds is small? He's right at the average for NFL Offensive Linemen.
Yeah, but you said it in the very same thread
Jimmy Googs : 10/14/2014 2:52 pm : link
that you are giving ever-loving praise to Reese's 2nd round pick.

All GMs have too many bad picks. Its everyone's subjectivity to determine how many that really is...

And what's wrong with Fox News...

truth about the state of the union hard to listen to?

focusing on Walton and Jerry but it looked like Pugh got his ass handed to him all night.Now to be fair on some of those maybe he was expecting help from Jerry but at times Pugh looked like Ian Allen.

OMG! NOt an Ian Allen mention! He was bad and yes Pugh looked equally as bad, as if he went out with his Philly buddies the night before!

Interior? What about a new RT to replace Pugh. He played the worst of anybody on Sunday.

If we are going to use Sunday's game to make every snap decision for the future, let's at least do it right...

Pugh - annihilated

Jerry - gosh, I mean really? How does a fat ass move out of the way so quickly?

Walton - if his body language could speak it would say "HELP!!!!"

Richburg - attacking Fletcher on the ground was a start

Beatty - just waiting for a hang nail or his eye rolls out of his head from a defender poking him

Looks like we fixed the OL. Yup, bring on Dallas. Here we come

Good Lord

Oh look, PFF grades (which I'm sure is posted elsehwhere)

Pugh: -4.3 - awesome
Richburg: -3.3 - very nice
Jerry: -2.8 - thought it was worse
Beatty: -0.3 - gee, and I thought he had a good game
Walton: -0.1 - I guess you get a nice grade when defenders are tripping over you after a fall.

Think Reese is regretting very much his undervaluing of Ol prior to 2013 now. He was sold that bill of goods by Accorsi who was a big measurable skill position guy in the earlier rounds of the draft. Thought Ol were a waste and could be coached up and not have draft picks wasted on them. Coughlin is not of that opinion. So this mess is on Reese and his useless hire Ross.

Your idea to move Richburg from center has some merit, Walton has been unimpressive, but I can’t let you get away with this last comment. I am not republican but I find Fox News is far better than its competitors in terms of reporting accuracy, truthfulness, and quality of programming. I find I can trust Fox where the others, CNN and MSNBC I don’t.

the way the idiots sprout again like fucking weeds after one bad game

I think Richburg is the long-term solution at OC,
Section331 : 10/14/2014 3:52 pm : link
but you are way overstating Walton's struggles. Yeah, he played like crap against Philly, but who on the line didn't? Should we replace everyone?

Walton is seeing his first action in almost 2 years, so it isn't a shock he's been up and down. That said, he's a better option than sliding Mosely in. You're forgetting how brutal he was. And Jerry isn't much better. When Schwartz comes back, that's where the change will occur.

In addition, physical ability is not the only criteria. Richberg should ultimately be the better Center for the future, but Walton is the guy with more experience making the line calls. Richberg can learn a lot playing guard now then shifting to center when he's ready to make the calls.
Agreed, good point, FJ.

Laughed so hard at "or his eye rolls out of his head," I about crapped my pants. Man, what a mess we have here on the O-line! To say nothing of most everywhere else.
the answer is obvious
B in ALB : 10/14/2014 5:01 pm : link
You trade for Dion Lewis and hope that somehow the Browns will take a 1st for him.

He can probably play G and C by himself, snap the ball to himself, run the ball behind the hole he creates himself, and still manage to get arrested at the team hotel after the game.
Hmmmm....

Jimmy Googs : 2:40 pm : link : reply
and the kind of guy you build an o-line around, then why are you complaining that Jerry Reese can't draft anybody good?

And he hasn't even played one down at center.....where did you buy your crystal ball?
Agree
Some Fan : 10/14/2014 11:49 pm : link
When Schwartz is healthy put him at guard, Richburg at Center and Walton to a backup role. Walton is completely overmatched.
