NFT: Question re IP Blockers

Jay in Toronto : 10/15/2014 12:28 pm
I have a legit US address and Credit Card. I'm thinking of streaming content over the Net and using US Netflix etc. when I am not in the US.

My assumption is that my non-US IP is being read via my router (if using WiFi or a media box like Roku) or my computer if I only am looking at stuff on my computer connected via LAN to the TV.

What products/software etc would you guys recommend via either method, including masking/subbing my IP address?

Many thanks

Jay

PS I'm far from an expert, so perhaps some of my assumptions are wrong. I've done some searching but if anyone also have a favorite tutorial link that would be appreciated.

I've been using "Private Internet Access"
ballanda : 10/15/2014 12:36 pm : link
VPN client for Windows for over a year, without a single hiccup. Speeds are top notch too.
I use private internet access as well,

Forgot the link

They have servers all over the world, so you can fake your location.

you don't want to go to VPN sites because many are there to get you to install malware

the best solution

hola internet
works on chrome and firefox
it will spoof any country

netflix has different movies streaming in each country so you can really find alot of cool stuff

also you can watch US tv via hulu or network websites for free

I don't think you need anything on your router. When I use PIA, I can pick an IP in England and stream video which is only available there. I don't have anything on my router.
Another vote for PIA
Bogey : 10/15/2014 8:03 pm : link
Been using it for Sunday ticket.
So any other votes for Hola?

it has the virtue of being free.

I have used Anchor Hotspot Shield, but sometimes it turns itself off.
bite the bullet and buy a vpn service

I've been using PIA also for quite a while and i've never had a single drop. It's good, buy it and use it.
Jay,

I use Hola's add-on for Firefox to surf Hulu, no issues here.
Jay- I'm pretty sure

the only place that cares about your IP address is the endpoint, such as Netflix. Their equipment takes a look at who is requesting service.

Using one of these VPN sites, your IP is sent to the VPN service and in turn, the VPN service (located in England for example) sends a request for streaming video to Netflix as an England customer who is using an England IP.

I use unblock-us
fireitup77 : 10/16/2014 10:25 am : link
No VPN necessary.

Unblock-us - ( New Window )
Thanks for all the suggestions

bottom line, as I understand it, is that something on my computer (program or service etc) will suffice, I don't need anything on my router.
