I have a ps4 that i mostly play sports games on... I though just finish last of us(amazing game). My wife purchased Destiny this past weekend for my birthday and im lost and confused.. I am NOT an online gamer..i got the ps4 over the xbox one because i really dont have any interest in playing online gaming.. I like fps but only in story mode...
I am confused with this Destiny game. is this an online game? I am not very far into the game and have been playing missions by myself and getting destroyed.. when i look up on the net all i read is how you can play missions with other people and get help.. I have no idea how to do this..every mission so far in game i have had no help..its all solo.. is there anything special that i have to do? i dont have any friends that have a ps4 and like i said, im not usually an online gamer.. Is this a game for a solo player? i have three more days to decide if i like it or i can return to gamestop and get something else... graphics are great... gameplay is great... I just have no idea how to get other people to help me with missions...thanks for helping....
If you go into orbit and look at the events you have available on each planet and it says "strike" it feasibly requires 1-2 other people to accomplish. However, you don't need to find other people to do these. If you choose to do a strike, it should put you in matchmaking and automatically match you with 2 other people to do these.
I will warn you that if you are adverse to playing online, you might find yourself struggling to find motivation to keep playing after level 20. You can keep doing strikes past level 20 but it will be the same 6-7 strikes you would be doing over and over again and can easily get repetitive.
I personally enjoy the online component (which is called "Crucible" in orbit) but if you never got into Halo or Call of Duty multiplayer, you probably wouldn't get into this one either. It is EXTREMELY difficult at first because everyone has better gear than you and the gameplay style is vastly different from the story mode. It gets very frustrating very easily.
This is just my take on it. I'm a multiplayer-oriented gamer and I just feel like that is what the game centers around it. Maybe someone else can provide a different take on it.
If that doesn't appeal to you, you may want to exchange it. It's a fun game with some flaws, but it's really online multiplayer focused.
The only mode that matches you with other players automatically are the Strike Playlists, with are 3 vs. computer, and Crucible, which is competitive multiplayer in different flavors.
