If you had to pick a division rival to win the SB

Dave in PA : 10/16/2014 11:03 am
Who would you go with? I think for most people it's between Dallas and Washington. Fuck the fucking eagles in every way possible, no chance I'm picking them. I guess I'd have to choose Washington, only because Snyder would probably screw it up faster than Dallas.

Washington by default

I live in the DC area so I never want them to win a SB in my lifetime should I live here that entire time.

cowboys fans are already annoying and always have been and that won't change so I guess they might as well win another one.

PHI never has won one, and I hope they never do.
I would root for Dallas.
TheManUpstairs : 10/16/2014 11:07 am : link
I live in NoVa, so Washington and Philadelphia are too close.

Snyder's evil AND stupid; Jones is just stupid.
That zero has to remain for Philly

with Washington over Philly and especially Dallas. I cannot begin to imagine the media blitz cramming the cowboys and Romo down our throats and JJ's constant crowing throughout the off season.
Dallas...

Without question.
I'll say this, if it ever has to be Philly,

I'm just glad it wasn't with that dirt bag Michael Vick at the helm. At least Foles is a likeable kid.

Personally, I'd probably say the Skins because I don't want Dallas to widen the title gap.
Redskins and not really close..
chrispisano66 : 10/16/2014 11:13 am : link
We need to catch the Cowboys 5, they can't pull farther ahead.

I hope I never live to see the day the Eagles 0 falls.

The Skins would only pull even with us in Super Bowls and don't hate them nearly as much as the other 2.

I've developed a grudging respect for Romo. And certainly witten. I don't mind Garrett either. Plus the added Benefits of jurrah being vindicated as a great gm will help us for years.

Although garcia once said choosing the lesser of two evils is still choosing evil.

But Snyder is the worst and he has less self awareness then jerruh. He will never change.

The Eagles. Phuck philly gotta keep that o fer. I'm from south jersey. Philly sports fans are everything you've ever heard.
It Can't Be Dallas
Trainmaster : 10/16/2014 11:24 am : link
as others have pointed out, they have 5 SBs and I want the Giants as a franchise to catch them, not be further distanced from them.

I wouldn't want it to be Washington, as they would be tied with the Giants at 4.

Therefore, even though I really like the empty trophy case, it would very grudgingly have to be Philadelphia.

rooted for a rival in the playoffs. In football, I truly don't like any of the division rivals. In the 80s, I did root for the Redskins in the SB because I respected Gibbs and a number of players. However, Snyder has removed any good will oe could feel for them. the same can be said about Dallas. At one point, you could hate but respect Dallas when they had Landry, Staubach, Dorsett, etc. Now, there is not much to respect.

They already have a bunch of them, one more wouldn't hurt that much. Terps nailed it on the Eagles - that goose egg is something to cherish. And the Redskins are my most hated team in football.

Here's to hoping none of them win a damn thing for many years to come.
Eagles
jimmypage : 10/16/2014 12:27 pm : link
Isn't a popular thing to say here but living in the area with inlaws/family and people I associate with, my experience is mostly a classy and football knowledgeable fan base. They deserve it once and it would be good for the NFL.
I would never pick any of them.

Eagles -
Rick5 : 10/16/2014 12:34 pm : link
It's not close for me. I live around Redskins fans, so that's never an option. Everybody lives around Cowboys fans, and I am quite happy with their lack of recent success in terms of SB wins. The Eagles would still only have one SB win to our 4. I wouldn't like it, but I could live with it much easier than having the Cowboys widen the gap or the Redskins tie us. I don't personally know any Eagles fans. That's another reason it would be easier.
Rivalry stigma aside, gotta go Cowboys
FTLFan : 10/16/2014 12:34 pm : link
but ONLY because Romo and Witten have earned it, not for Jerrah or any of the 12 million fair weather fans that will crawl out from under a rock. Best career duo in football right now, IMO, and obviously one of the very best of all time.

Skins? Meh....I almost pity them

Shegals?...certainly hope not while I'm alive.

Im sure the Snyder and Jones would beg to differ with you when you call them "stupid". A simple comparing of checking accounts with yours would settle that debate pretty quickly.
No one should say Philly
giantsfan44ab : 10/16/2014 12:38 pm : link
I grew up in an area split between Eagles, Giants, and Jets fans, and Eagles are by far the worst fanbase. Even Cowboys fans were tolerable to an extent because they are pretty sarcastic in the pride for the team.

Eagles fans are just cocky for no reason. They always think they are going to win the Super Bowl every year and whatever player they acquire they celebrate before the season starts.

The "Dream Team" they assembled really set me off and I never heard the end of it until they missed the playoffs and the Giants won the SB.

I dont even hate Washington so I'd say the Foreskins (I believe that is the politically correct term nowadays), maybe because they never have been a factor in the division before.
SKins
djm : 10/16/2014 12:41 pm : link
and it's not even close.

Skins
Eagles
Cowboys

IN that shitty fucking vomit order.

This season better not be reduced to me rooting against Philly or Dallas and praying like hell that either team doesn't play too far into January. I'm nervous...
you can generally tell where people are from in these threads
Greg from LI : 10/16/2014 12:44 pm : link

Those living in the mid-Atlantic say Redskins

Everywhere else, Cowboys.

djm : 10/16/2014 12:44 pm : link
or who you are exposed to. If you live in the Virgina DC area you're obviously terrified at the prospects of a Skins successful postseason run. IF you live in South Jersey Philly fans will keep you awake at night. I live in Nortj JErsey so naturally I run into the shittiest form of life on the planet--the North Jersey Dallas Cowboy fan. Even better is the shit dicked Yankee Dallas fan. Fucking shit. That's what they are...fucking SHIT. Shit that fucks.

lived in north jersey my whole life
djm : 10/16/2014 12:48 pm : link
I don't think I have ever even known an Eagles fan. Maybe one, and he's not even a close friend. He's in my FF league every year. He can't talk shit even if he tried because we have 4 rings to his 0.

Dallas fans are everywhere up here and honestly, even if they weren't, I don't want that franchise winning anymore super bowls. I hated that they had NYG beaten 5-2 in bowls...now it's 5-4. It needs to stay that way or NYG needs to tie. I can't process them winning a bowl ever again. The 90s were fucking torture. We have finally bridged the gap with that cock shit franchise. Fuck them and fuck Tony Romo and his perfect little TE, Witten. I don't care if they both cure cancer and donate all their money to charity. Fuck them both.
dallas fans in north jersey

I swear they all look the same. They all give off the same aura. They all "rooted for the team through the lean years bro, real fan here." ---FUCK THEM. They are the worst. They took the easy way out in the 70s or early 80s or 90s. You don't get points even if you are loyal. Loyal my ass. Nazis were loyal too. Fuck NAzis. Fuck Dallas fans in Jersey.

I just remember too well how obnoxious Redskins fans were
Greg from LI : 10/16/2014 12:52 pm : link
back when they won. Hell, they're insanely annoying even today, when they have barely even made the playoffs over the past two decades. And that song.....god, that fucking song.
Skins pound for pound may be the worst
djm : 10/16/2014 12:59 pm : link
I won't dispute that.

I met and know a few Skins fans over the years and they all seemed to have this knack for talking shit even when the Giants would be 11-5 while the SKins were 5-11. Truly uncanny. I worked with a dude that pounded me daily with non stop trash talk. This was in 2008.

I'd retort with the crane kick of trash talk and he would just keep coming...hell bent on firing back despite not having a leg to stand on.

Fuck Dallas fans everywhere. They're all the same: front running cocksuckers. Sports radio is horrid this week, every fucking one of them is calling in. Please Giants, win this game and send them all back to their caves.

that you should follow the team of the town or area you grew up in. Then the Dallas fan will say that's conformist bullshit I can root for any team I choose.

I love when the fan hangs his hat on the myth ( or fact, who cares) that Dallas is the most popular team in the NFL. America's team bla bla. I like to remind them of the most popular music groups, most popular food or most popular movie in America this very moment.

Cowboys are the Applebees of NFL franchises.

Or least from an area you have ties to, or the team most of your family roots for. I grew up more in VA than NY, but I was born up there and I'm a third generation Giants fan. I didn't just pick them out of a hat. I have a cousin who, like me, was born in NY but spent more of his childhood somewhere else - in his case, western PA. His favorite team is the Steelers because they were his hometown team growing up, but he also pulls for the Giants because that's his "family" team. It works out OK for him because they don't play each other too often.
