NFT: Need a Kindle Fire Replacement

Bob in Vt : 10/16/2014 12:19 pm
My wife's Kindle Fire died a few weeks ago.

With her birthday coming up, I was wondering if anyone had any good suggestions of what to replace it with, that's not too expensive. Not sure if I should just get a new one, or something else.

She used it mainly for reading, a few solitaire games, and just a bit of web surfing. She does have a laptop that she does most of her browsing on.

Thanks
Sounds like the

Regular " Kindle," or the "Kindle Paper White," which offers background illumination, is the choice for you. Since the introduction of the "Fire," & "Fire HDX," the "Paper White," has seen a marked decrease in price. You should be able to find one for just over $100.00. It's a good reader: lightweight, & easy to use, with a number of settings to personalize viewing/reading preferences. Hope that helps a bit.
Kindle fire HD are now $99

I'll probably get another Kindle.

I thought I'd ask because I don't know a thing about tablets.

is the best bet if she used it for Amazon media consumption. Amazon streaming video and what not.
Paperwhite is great

I love mine. But it's for reading only - no tablet features like web, mail, apps, video.
