I'll download it later when its available. iOS 8.1 will be available for download on Monday, and apple pay also will debut on Monday. They are bringing back the camera roll on the photos on Monday which I know annoyed a few of us on here when they took it away in iOS 8
My upgrade is November 4th.. do you think they'd just give it to me early if I went in there now and traded in my iPhone 5? Or should I just wait the 3 weeks or whatever it is. I know it's soon anyway.. but if I could just get it now, I'd rather.

If you're with verizon you should be able to. They said anyone with an upgrade date of November 15th or earlier would be able to upgrade early
As a special thank you to our existing customers, all Verizon customers who would be eligible to upgrade on or before November 15th have had their upgrade dates changed to become upgrade eligible immediately. These customers can now upgrade to any device currently in our lineup, with new two year contract. Customers should check My Verizon to confirm upgrade eligibility.
The rumors are it will be 12" Retina MBA. I have 13" now but would give up an inch for the retina.
When are broadwell chips supposed to come out?
For all the criticism of Windows I always had problems with OSX updates and glitches.
I'll keep using an IPhone and IPad but for laptops I'll never go back. Too

Broadwell has been pushed back til the first half of next year, but Intel is also releasing their next generation architecture, Skyline in the second half of next year. I don't know if Apple will wait til Skyline, kind of hope they do. Supposedly the Skyline architecture will be one biggest advancements in the last decade.

lol I'm the reverse
I got my Macbook in 2008 and am trying to string as much time out of it as I possibly can.
But, I've only ever had Android phones and am on the fence about getting the iPhone now that I can upgrade.
Looking forward to Apple Pay - I've missed nfc payments from Android.
Check this out. Tells you what's in stock at every Apple Store

They had the plus I think but that shit is too big. I already have an iPad mini.
You guys must have slow internet. I downloaded it at about 730 and it only took 20 minutes
It is not available yet. Still beta testing. Will be enabled in a future update.
I started downloading the Yosemite around 6 pm and it finished around 11.
Its a huge download, over 6 gigs, and everyone is trying to do it at the same time, so the slow download is to be expected.
I think you need to be logged into iCloud and both devices need to be on the same Wi-Fi network.
Anyone else get a message that you need to download Java when you turn on the computer? When I try to do that, it completely freezes my computer.
Aside from that, I like it :)
Immediate impressions, right off the bat.
The battery/power menu shows "apps" by usage in terms consumers can relate to - it started in mobile on Android (and now ios) - without going into activity monitor and relating my actual usage into time, and continuing to sell "App" on the desktop.. Convenient (gonna be a theme here...)
Ive always used a launcher, latest is Alfred. Spotlight just ate the company. The user interaction of clicking the spotlight icon, and getting the search area in the middle of the screen (and not movable), is clearly aimed at those users, but it's a poor implementation. But, you have to get the masses used to it. The icon will be phased out I'm sure.
Good choice having the notifications panel be a fly out menu rather than shifting the whole desktop over. And it's more useful with widgets or extensions or whatever. More mobile features coming to desktop.
Safari is interesting. I like the new Favorites layout on new windows/tabs. Don't know about you but I have a ton of well indexed bookmarks I never actually revisit. also you can finally see your tabs visually grouped together in an overview. Also easy to see the tabs on my other devices and network.
Handoff good. Using phone sms etc on computer was sorely needed. Don't like the Bluetooth nature of it though.
Icon changes are poppy and clean. Little goofy looking, but more making the computer approachable to mobile first kids/people.
Despite that I'll be spending my time on a windows server in jump desktop.
They are definitely moving in a certain direction.
(if you restart your computer it gets a little faster )
one nice thing it seems the lower on my computer is much louder
Weak sauce. Weak sauce.
I tried this and it seems to be working with my iPad. To use Mail, however, I have to use the Apple client, but I use webmail on the desktop. Very tempting to go back to the Mail client for that alone. Will wait and see.
It's sporadic between my iPhone and iPad. and iPhone not going to laptop. I don't know if multiple devices are there yet, but it's a good start. Thanks for the tip.
Anyone know if it's a complicated thing to go back to Maverick? Will I lose any documents? Better to go to the Apple Store and get a genius to do it?
No idea what that means. Haha
and apple combine this with the touch ID
to create Apple Pay
you set up your credit card in your iphone and use your phone to pay at various retail and restaurants by touching the NFC pad in store and pressing your home button on your iphone
