Must say you guys did a good job carrying the thread through the day..amazing what some good play and optimism brings out.
Not much for me to do since you are aware of the moves from today, so your goaltender tonight is Jaro Halak. Forwards are:
89 Cory Conacher 91 John Tavares 21 Kyle Okposo
84 Mikhail Grabovski 29 Brock Nelson 18 Ryan Strome
12 Josh Bailey 51 Frans Nielsen 86 Nikolay Kulemin
17 Matt Martin 53 Casey Cizikas 15 Cal Clutterbuck
Defense yet to be confirmed, but likely Boychuk-Leddy, Hamonic-Hickey (the coaching staff has noted they like this combo) and CDH-TBD. As noted, he's been practicing with Donovan, so it's possible we see that with Strait as your extra.
Isles will have some pink stick tape tonight, and if Twitter pics of practice today are any indicator, we will see the first appearance of our 3rd jersey (Stadium Series) in tonight's tilt.
And since tim brought you our gameday Rush lyrics earlier, I won't tempt fate by posting others. As for first Isles' goal tonight...Strome.
Okposo was possessed tonight!!! Halak looks shaky, though.
de Haan didn't miss a beat, huh? And how about my boy Bailey?????
Where is Marty Reasoner playing? ;)
oh yeah..

I disagree on Strome. He has attacked his forechecks so far and directly created one goal (behind the net one-touch dish to Grabbo, Carolina) and pressured a lot of others. His passing has been good. I think that the knock is he hasn't scored yet. He will. Even Howie noted his confidence.
Joshua Bailey
Just got back from the game.
Kills me to lose this great old barn the way it was rocking tonight but at least they're staying local. I hope Brooklyn comes close to the same atmosphere.
Halak needs to be better, not that he's been bad but when and if he tightens shit up this team will be legit. Especially so when Viz replaces Strait.
Hope Grabovski is not out too long.
Fuck Kate Murray.
*seem to be
Agree about everything else though - this team is for real. Even with some injuries and without everything clicking on all cylinders they are really taking it to some pretty good opponents. The power play looks lethal. Hard to imagine what this team is going to be capable of when Visnovsky/Grabner come back or when Halak gets on a hot streak.
Where is he going? 3rd line???
What will make things interesting is the health of Grabovski and if he'll miss any time. Staple reporting no concussion, but an upper body injury. I looked at that hit many times, and I think that there could be a shoulder or collarbone involved given how hard Grabbo hit the ice.
PS, Ho-Sang in his Windsor debut last night: 2g, 1a
- Tavares face down on the ice after a puck to the foot and Burns gets an uncontested slap shot (which he placed beautifully, granted).
- Cizikas breaks his stick on the face off and is unable to contest the D-D pass that set up Marleau.
Neither of those is a likely goal without those bits of good fortune. I think Halak is fine.
I like Leddy's game. The crowd has been great.

I figured grabovski was a rib or wind when he skated to the tunnel bent over. I can't tell from the hit. Solid clean hit, by the way.
Bailey is not a 4th liner, dammit. Either he's a good 3rd liner or they need to get rid of him. He adds nothing to the energy line.
Fun game to watch. The Hertl goal sure looked offsides, but in the end it didn't matter. Last year, after a delating goal like that, you just knew another goal (or two) for San Jose' was coming.
But the guys just worked through it and managed to end up with all that mattered, the two points. There The amazing thiung is how quickly the team has jelled. They really like playing for one another.
And you can tell immediately by Boychuk's quotes, he has taken on a leadership role. He always talks up the talent and work ethic. Meanwhile, Leddys offensive game was not exaggerrated. He is the goods. He just felll on the tying goal. Bad luck there.
Strome had an uneven game, but he has been part of the second line that has been so good, I will let him slide.
The Taveras SO goal was a beauty.
They are what their record says it is. Pile up as many points as possible, to cushion the many bumps along the way. However, the team appears is better equipped to deal with losing streaks now.
On to Pittsburgh.
Did the SJ goalie stand on his head or were there a lot of shots at his chest?
Either way, 4-0-0 is still 8 points.
As marbles said, let's keep adding them up and hope we avoid the double digit losing streak.
It's been a long time since we have had to worry about who to take out of the lineup when a player comes back from injury. This may sound crazy, but based on how everyone's been playing and their roles, do you think Strome may be sent down when Grabner comes back?
need to pile on wins now because....NOVEMBER IS TWO WEEKS AWAY!! gulp
I have to say that I also like this new feisty JT.
But he posts LENGTHY highlights from every game. I hope he doesn't get taken down any time soon. He put together a 20 minute highlight reel of last night's game. I'm gonna throw it on when I work out later and hear Howie's calls since I was in attendance.

Meant to say: I don't know if you guys are aware of "Captain Canada" on YouTube.

This team will just crush November and go right to December.

Also, if you can catch okposo interview in the studio after the game, he is very passionate about this team. They all love it. Okposo has been playing here for 7 years already. Jeez.
On a game-related note...you guys will need to post the game thread (feels, tim, Dave, feel free to take the reins)...I get to go on a cub scout camporee tomorrow...just when the weather here is first dropping into the 30s overnight. But, it's quality time with my little dudes, so no real complaints.
And one last gift below...
